"Feel free to use coupon code IDIGGIT at checkout to take three bucks off."
I already own this app and highly recommend it. - Sottozero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Uh no, you're missing the point, as most anti-Mac people do.
AppZapper removes EVERYTHING about an application. Nothing is left behind -- no preferences, no cached files/information, no save files, nothing. The Mac comes out of the box with the most elegant uninstall process ever, but apps still leave stuff behind (presumably in the case of reinstallation).
Hate to break it to ya, but Windows suffers the same malady, only worse. When you uninstall something using Add/Remove programs, you'll have lots of things leftover: registry keys (entire registry classes), ancillary folders, sometimes even stray icons on your desktop and/or QuickLaunch bar. If you want to get those, you need to get a 3rd party program to help you (like YourUninstaller, etc.).
So, in parting, get a clue. Thanks. - CanuckMakem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Not really.... windows uninstall leave all sorts or crap behind in registry and other places, this app actually REMOVES the program TOTALLY!!!
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Dugg for being a useful program and having a very nice site design.
- amitdeopanwar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Neat icon, you know exactly what Zap Genie is when you see it
- kspore, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I've been using App Zapper for a while now and I have to say I love it! Removing apps on a Mac isn't hard, but finding all of the supporting files can be a real pain. Unlike Windows I don't think the supporting files create any stability issues for the most part, but being able to feel confident that all the files are gone and I don't have to search for them or hunt through a registry (ala Windows), is fantastic. Also a great program for those apps that you sometimes have to fully remove before upgrading or for when you test software and then decide you don't want to use it anymore. Oh, and they keep updating the software. $13 doesn't often buy you much, but it does here. Oh, $18 for a whole family of computers.
- pb3623, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It is a functional and practical application. The user interface is clean and there is no bait-and-switch with having to pay for future upgrades. There are some things it will never fix (e.g., Adobe Photoshop CS2 w/ Adobe Bridge folders) but maybe the ability to keep a database of applications that install "helper apps" would be a useful feature for a future release.
- suppazone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4made a lil vid for you - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8g1QLKbnps - youtube smashes the ratio up though
- Xiata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Agreed with CanuckMakem. Uninstallers for windows often leaves all the configuration files (not necessarily inside of the main install directory) as well as a lot of "shared components" when it is the only application that actually uses them.
That and the registry is almost never pruned during uninstalls. It'd be nice if an application like that existed for windows without having to have it track the installation process itself. - Aanidaani, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is a really cool app, but unfortunately you can't add search directories for programs. I wish I could add my other drive...
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Clue pwn'd.
- CanuckMakem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Best app I've purchased for OSX in a while. This is a very nice upgrade, funny how you don't realise you need something till you got it.
:D - MikeSD34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You get free updates for life if their site is correct.
- borkov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I used to use the old version of Appzapper until I found Cleanapp http://www.synium.de/cleanapp/index.html which built a list of applications. So i've been using that and love it. I'll have to check out the new version of AppZapper.
- bebop717, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Suppazone thanks for the video, I was a little but curious about this program but the ease of use displayed in the video sold me. Can't think of a way to type this to say it's cool and not sound like a paid spokesmen.

I use regcleaner from tweaknow.comgreat little app. And has a free personal use version. - Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mr.hostility, it seems to work, I just installed it and It launched like it normally does.
- mr.hostility, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does it work with the new version? I also got a free license from them, but I thought it was only for the last version.
- computerdude33, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I own it too, and I must say it is one of my favorite apps.
- kriskhaira, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Huh, is there some kind of policy you are imagining? What about those diggs about iPods then?
- [eD], on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats great, thanks suppazone.
- shadowmoses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg just bought with discount coupon for $9.97 great app!!!
- [eD], on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Any screenshots?
- monofonik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got this during that BlogZot! thing they did to give you the program for free.
Anyway, this program rocks. I'd pay for it if I had to. The Genie bit just makes it even better. - ReBeLaCe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I payed for it but I havent received my registration email and it has been about 30mins? How long did it take you guys who have bought it to get your email?
- ilgaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Check your "Junk" or "spam" folder, the registration here came in 40 secs after my Paypal order processed. This could be the fastest online software purchase I did :)
The problem: Apple Mail "thinks" the registration mail is junk here!
Well, it is not so bright you know ;) - hallowspirit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0really good ideo for people who don't know who to unistall apps shoot even if you do it's easy to miss something. Good Idea
- redog, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Call me cynical, but advertising products on digg just seems wrong. And @those who said that they own this app, you are wrong, you only own a license.
Not FOSS no digg. - colin040, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The reason apple does not include software for unistalling is that 95% of the time you dont need it. And a quick spotlight search usually finds most of it. This software makes it easier and complete.
Ill take my drag in drop install to your windowz wizards any day - ilgaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Every Mac user out there knows nothing on MacOS (both pre X and new tiger) can do anything by just "sitting there". It would be couple of preference files, cache files and some disk space used. Nobody claims anything should go wrong by an Application just sitting there with its tiny preference file (it is clear text! xml even) or slow the system on MacOS. I think it can matter if you have low disk space.
Windows on the other hand has some monster named "registry". Everything you install adds its settings to that binary file. MS tries its best like compressing it when needed and even cleaning it when needed but at last it is a huge file around. DLLs still installed as seperate files thanks to their DOS roots, there is a huge deal with spyware. There are low quality programs never cleaning their temp. files (yes, thats how you have millions of titles, quality vs quantity) etc etc.
So nobody needs a huge suite/architecture like Microsoft Installer (MSI) at first place.
This utility does not claim "Clean up stuff slows your system" etc. They say "Zap aps fast and easily". That is what people expect from shareware.
If it looks very simple to you... Well, when iPod shipped people said it doesn't have half of the features a generic Taiwan mp3 player has. Apple said "It is simple", guess who won? - ilgaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Application is really "loved" by its users since first day it shipped. Check versiontracker.com comments, macupdate.com comments, various professional mags.
I admit these "love" and "hate" degree in Mac World is a bit too much but it doesn't give you the right to make conspiracy theories for a small mac shareware house.
Here is how I decided to try this software. I am Allume Spring Cleaning 8 user. I figured I lost the original download in hundreds of CDs and decided to download again. Guess what? Their crook online dealer (digital river) wants $10 to re download product you ALREADY PURCHASED. So, I said 'OK, enough getting robbed, time to check competing stuff" and found this one. I purchased it after testing with the evil, never installed right Opera. Worked. Clicked "buy now" and bought. LESS paid than my "re-download". Shouldn't I evangelize this now? - rayzincrisp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I don't know if this is works or not, But since when did digg become an ad agency. Except for a few, all the posts so far sound like they were posted by people hired to hype the product.
- ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Removing apps on the mac was one of the things I always disliked because uninstallers were rare.
but this app makes it so easy! and the free license i won also helps. - applewhore, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Like it! Very cool!!! :-))
- scottybowl, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Surely the fact that someone has to create proprietary software to handle the most basic of tasks shows a severe limitation in usability of the OS
- hallowspirit, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0I just thought of something, why don't the stupid fagots at apple have a built in uninstaller so you don't have to buy one. Crap some programs install gigs of information that a lot of students who i have to help are to stupid to realize or delete it.
- KC311Man, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3God...How cool would it be to have a program like this for Windows...being able to remove programs you install...AWESOME...oh...wait...you've been able to to that since Windows 95...umm...welcome to the 90's Mac!
- RBasil, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Thanks for the spam.
- imacycler, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Clue: AppZapper likes IE for MAC
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -20/+12See, if this was a Windows program, everyone would be running around mad yelling "NO DIGG! ONLY FOR MAC!".rnrn:-)
- ideabrian, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/?NewsID=14706
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -16/+3*Only for Windows, doh!rnrnI wonder where the rnrn came from too.. =/
