- SquireCD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How is this misleading? "Early glance" -- it's in the first steps -- what more do you want?
- stephen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is not a GIMP port. It is a GTK+ port, so that ANY application that uses GTK+ can run natively on OSX.
- MikeZila, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ouch. I hope he's planning to have a sitdown with Interface Builder. Those GNOME style buttons are fugly.
- newdamage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Check out http://seashore.sourceforge.net/ instead. Basically a much more finished port of Gimp on OS X.
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The more software that runs on OS X, the better...
- Midnightbrewer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Nice, you used to have to pay to get it on OSX, nice that its free now."
You never had to pay to get it on OSX. There is one company that charges to ship it to you, pre-compiled, on a CD, and gives people the wrong impression (and it is a really dubious way to make money), but it's always been free on OSX. - Sleestack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0More momentum for Apple. You're starting to see more and more open source stuff coming to OS X.
- Subway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The only thing wrong is screenshots and not screenshot. Seen that too late. There really should be an edit button.

- HackWithRamzi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Aqua rocks.
- craigtheguru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seems like we slaughtered the site. I somewhat agree about Seashore, although I'll still use it until this real conversion of GIMP is complete.
- EmmEff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A good start. Hopefully this project will continue and we'll have something useful (and pretty) soon.
- personman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wouldn't call Seashore crap, but I definately wouldn't call it "much more finished." It only has a few features. It can barely do more than iPhoto or Preview. It does support layers and I was able to turn a jpg on a white background into a png with transparent background. But it still falls way short of what Gimp can do. But it's native Aqua, which is nice. I can't stand to use Gimp in X11, so I'm really looking forward to seeing Seashore mature or any other aqua version of Gimp.
- manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Chewie - actually, thanks to x11 (and Fink), a whole bunch of software runs on OS X.
The more software that runs "natively" on OS X, the better.
//nitpicky, I know - anagami, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0The GIMP shouldn't be that GTK-centric... like Firefox, imaging having to instal GTK only to run FF.
- cptmorgan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh boy, this glance is almost as if I'm really using the program! it's so internal and underground. boo.
- shadow_wolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Nice, you used to have to pay to get it on OSX, nice that its free now.
- diecastbeatdown, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0seashore = crap.
- iaskedTGT, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Lemmings on Parade again.
- whitesanjuro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0misleading title
- Prod_Deity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0"seashore = crap"
I agree with that to an extent.
It's good to do VERY basic photo editing.
If you don't like it, write your own photo editor. Even if these programs that are OSS are "half assed", they're still free as in speech and beer (the latter most of the time).
Feel free to help out by adding code to it to improve it.
If you don't like the product, don't use it or help make it better. Don't be an armchair quarterback. DO something about it. - socket, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Subway is your name but you must also work there. Nice use of grammar you buffoon.
