- ravi7791, on 10/10/2007, -17/+277The picture of the back is just the following picture on apple.com:
http://www.apple.com/displays/gallery/back.html
buried as inaccurate. - Phatt138, on 10/10/2007, -1/+220Isn't it obvious that this is just a cinema display with "iMac" photoshopped on the back?
- davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+169Proof it is fake:
Look here:
http://www.apple.com/displays/gallery/front.html
Now here:
http://i17.tinypic.com/4y9xhlk.jpg
Notice the bottom? That 'blur' on the foot of the original from Apple carries over into this obvious fake.
Also, look here: http://www.apple.com/displays/gallery/back.html
Compare that to the fake's back and you will see that the cable lines up at exactly the same place with a part of the 'foot' showing on the left.
And that was the only 2 things I needed to see.
BUSTED!
P.S. Apple design team would have moved the USB/Firewire ports next to the power cord, not on the left where wires would hang down. - streak, on 10/10/2007, -27/+186Silly. USB and Firewire ports won't fit where the LCD backlight is located. That's all just photoshop.
- weirdlookinguy, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1671: take stock apple photos
2: photoshop, blur, say it's an unreleased product
3: ?????
4:Profit!!!! - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -20/+107let's masturbate
- lewikee, on 10/10/2007, -4/+70So then wouldn't a really good forger "forget" to remove the Exif data so that people would believe he is not a forger since a quality fake would yield no Exif data?
In other words, the presence or absence of the Exif data means nothing. - a12k, on 10/10/2007, -10/+74yes its on all 5 internets!!
- rydel, on 10/10/2007, -26/+86Before anybody says this is a fake because Photoshop is in the Exif data, keep in mind the two pics were merged into one. Anyway, a good forger would know to remove the Exif data.
- wackymacs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+57This is the easiest thing ever to fake. Buried as inaccurate.
- airiox, on 10/10/2007, -5/+59I'll put my hope in diggers that this bad photoshop job won't make the front page...
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+40You can pretend to be naive, but past experience points to the pics being most likely fake.
- ours, on 10/10/2007, -0/+40That's what they'll want you to think!
- cdmarcus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+43Although I too doubt the veracity of these images, I just have to say, have you ever SEEN an LCD backlight? It's a tiny fluorescent tube that's built into the panel frame. It's no thicker than the actual panel.
- indiepenguins, on 10/10/2007, -1/+37Clearly a fake. How'd this make the front page?
- kahlessreborn, on 10/10/2007, -2/+38Confirmed Fake by Engadget
- puredeviation, on 10/10/2007, -4/+37here's another 'leaked' image:
http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/8792/imacleakhk5.jpg - iBenzin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+27It's Fake.
Already Hit Front Page BTW.
http://digg.com/apple/New_iMac_Pictures_Leaked_On_MacRumors - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+31No that would look ***** having wires sticking out of the site
- subxero37, on 10/10/2007, -5/+30It could use LED backlighting. Many new Apple laptops use it. In this case, no cold cathode lamp is required. No diffusion grating or anything. It's straightforward, distributed light.
- Powerdrift, on 10/10/2007, -1/+25What, are you kidding? Confirmed fake by whoever sees it.
- whistlerpro, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22A lot of people have never seen a cinema display, I guess.
- karmakanic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21There are FIVE? Damn... ...Comcast screwing me over again...
- absentmindedjwc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20Also, notice the lack of apple logo, I have never seen an apple product without one...
- spadgos, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19w-h-e-t-h-e-r
- NeoRicen, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19Yeah it's not like anyone would move them in Photoshop or anything...
- Dylson, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20Its fake for one simple reason: these are featured with leopard as the desktop. If these come out tuesday wouldnt apple advertise the machine with the OS that is present? I mean, come on, its apple were talking here. Anyways, thats my opinion.
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16*you're
- juicys, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17i think you have too many steps in one step.
- Zippo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16They fit onto the same place on the current cinema displays and iMacs. I don't see why they couldn't fit there.
- dirtyfratboy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16All hope is lost.
- tracydanger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Not to mention it's blurry - and how often do the blurry pics end up being real. They're always blurry to try and hide the fact that they're fake.
- vpeter, on 10/10/2007, -6/+20Macbook Pro is "many"?
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Insult + 3 words + grammatical error = durrrrrr
- ultrafez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13OK say it again, but slower.
- mollerade, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13yes but a really good forger would include Exif data, but manipulate it so that photoshop did not appear in the first place.
- masgrada, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Actually it looks like a photo from the Apple Cinema Displays Gallery... oh, almost exactly except for the photoshopped name and some blur/fuzz.
- slundal, on 10/10/2007, -7/+19It's a FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
- KyleMistry, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Cheapass, you'll spring for hookers like the rest of us.
- theone3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12I thougt it was a big deal to have a 15" LCD with LED backlights - how are they going to handle 24"? Has it been done before?
- dinkola, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Where they sitting on a railway station platform, as someone passed by on a train and took the picture? Certainly looks like it. Crazy amount of blur.
- cyberdork, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13A multitouch iMac would be an ergonomical nightmare. Imagine having to continuously lift your arms to work on the screen. Working with your arms above your heart is no good for your blood circulation.
- ross., on 10/10/2007, -0/+11You meant to type 'It's really fake' but hit the enter key half way through, right?
- normalkid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12This is a confirmed fake. mockup created by a forum member a while back.
- Konstantino, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12I would expect Apple to design something more original than something that they've ALREADY designed. (i.e. the cinema display) Seriously, with the new unorthodox iPhone design, I'm sure Apple would come up with something else.
Quite frankly, I'm disappointed that something so unoriginal (and a really bad photoshop job) would make it this far on the web. - magicmarc, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12you're
- jeriqo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Let's see if this one can reach the front page.
http://digg.com/apple/OMFG_more_leaked_pics_of_the_new_iMac - theone3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Not really. One poor guy uses GIMP, that's about it.
- nokkloom, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Without any holes for the heat to come out, this thing would just melt down in a matter of hours.
Writing iMac on the back of a cinema display won't make it one :(
This one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-d_CHY92Aw is a lot cooler ;)
Buried as Lame. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11From front there is no power cable, from back there is.
