- xerus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Flash is now 700 dollars... awesome. Thanks Adobe!
- audiowizard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22My question is why can't you build custom-order bundles, with the apps you want, and still receive a bundle discount price??????
All of their bundles either have software I don't want, or are lacking software I do want. Come on, do it right Adobe please. - hotdamn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20How is Dreamweaver even an option when you can use TextMate?
- wild, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I am really interested in the new flash interface.
- flashboy131, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Accounting departments everywhere will hate designers this summer. haha.
- mikedaul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13"yeah but you can't use them for commercial work."
Actually, you can.

Student question
"I'm very interested in buying the Education version of Adobe Creative Suite, but first I want to know if the software can be used to produce work for paying customers once I am working in the industry, or do I have to buy a different version of Creative Suite once I'm working in the industry?”
Answer
Good news! You can use Adobe Education software (any title!) to produce commercial/professional paid-for work when you leave school, or even while you are in school. In this regard, Adobe does not limit how student software is used. So students can use it to learn and to make money!
(Of course, students must agree to the terms of the End User Licensing Agreement — which appears during installation — just as every software customer must do.) - r2pro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I believe GoLive is now abandonware.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12@vbsurfer
We're not killing it. No starter in Graphic Design will fork over that kind of money! So by pirating the gain experience, and they can join the ranks of the elite. It's making your industry grow. - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Between OSX 10.5 and Adobe CS3 coming out this year, it's a good time to have stocks in Apple. I know *I'm* waiting for the two before I get my first Macbook Pro, and I know I'm definitely not alone.
- msikma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I'm really interested in whether Flash will now be correctly integrated with the likes of Photoshop and Illustrator. I want to be able to grab a vector in Flash and reliably copy it to Photoshop, and copy around CMYK Illustrator vectors without its colors getting messed up. I'm sure that this release will fix all of that. I'm definitely going to upgrade (unless the reviews turn out REALLY bad for some reason).
- TheAngryMob, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14They're keeping Fireworks. *Sigh of Relief*
- techstar25, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Gotta love how Flash will now cost more that Photoshop.
But where's my beloved GoLive? I guess I'm switching http://www.adobe.com/products/golive/gl2dw.html - capnkid, on 10/12/2007, -11/+19torrent or it didn't happen...
- joeycerone, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Who cares if it was "announced" - just let me know when I can download it.
- joeycerone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7the student discount prices are amazing!
master collection for 999
photoshop extended for 299

There are two flavors of Photoshop.
- r2pro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Couldn't agree more with the commentary attached to the article on switchtoamac.com . I want a 15" macbook pro. Yet I want a Universal PS binary so I've waited until now. However, I might as well wait for the OS to get updated and while I'm at it I might as well wait for the rumored LED backlit LCD screen.
I know I could keep this up forever but it seems as if the Leopard update will occur roughly around the same time as the CS3 release. I'll wait a month or two after that to see if there will be a macbook pro coming up. If not I'll finally get off the fence. - audiowizard, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10preorder bs. Gimme a heads up when the product is ready for purchase && download.
- smhill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@apotropaic
"Its real simple... rails isn't for professionals, dreamweaver is."
I can only assume you are being ironic. - cpbrown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4officially announced today, english versions shipping by the end of april, other editions shipping by june i think.
- SamKellett, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13I only hope "Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection" is as easy to crack as Photoshop CS3 was ;)
- Alystair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Amen, I was very worried that Fireworks would go away. It's a great tool for prototyping websites and doing quick edits without waiting 5 minutes for PS to load up ;)

That's the first time I've ever seen that. I'm a self employed designer however I was a teacher for the last five years years and now I'm a student. This seems to imply that I didn't have to shell out over all that cash for the commercial versions of these apps. It would also seem to indicate that I can buy a student CS3 provided I'm still a student (which I am) and use it for commercial work. - mongrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Seriously, way to make me look like a greedy ***** Adobe, thanks. I'll NEED the master collection too.
- Mikecol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2But his industry is supposed to be made up of old-timers that can't compete with creative new minds.
- sembetu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I apologize for this, I promise I am not trolling, but I haven't used Dreamweaver for about a year now. I started off, just using Smultron and Cyberduck, but then I fell in love with Eclipse. I have the Aptana plug-in, and the PHP plug-in, as well as the Adobe Flex plug-in, and all I can say is that I can not see anything useful that Dreamweaver can do, that I can not do with Eclipse. And besides it is free. As a matter of fact, you can even build Flex applications for free, if you just install the free Flex SDK and use Eclipse as your editor. As far as Ruby, well Eclipse has that covered too. I guess what I am saying is that as far as a professional development tool, and free (both types), you can't really beat it.
- mongrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Um, right there.
- superkendall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Davidflow - it's not that slow. I run CS2 on my Intel Macbook Pro (not even the newer Core Duo Two Twin Turbo, or whatever it is) and it's fine, just as fast as my G5 1.8 DP Tower anyway...
Most of the Intel macs around at the moment are fast enough to take out most of the speed drop from Rosetta. That said the improvement of CS3 on Intel will be very nice, if I can just figure out the right vector calculus to properly choose the right package for myself. - chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -10/+12and you thought Vista was stupid.
You can have this version of photoshop, it comes with the brush tool but you can't make new documents. For that you'll need this version unless you want to save your work then you'll... - mongrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i.e., Quark XPress users.
And echoing a previous comment I WAS a huge Adobe pirater at home for years, in my late teens and early 20s. Then during a stint in a manufacturing job I was able to put that to use in the absence of our freelance designer, and now I head a three-person national design team - so 1 pirated copy has come to bear 3 fully licensed copies and 4 years' worth of upgrades, not tomention multiple copies of Acrobat for other non-design users in the business.
So do some real resarch before you insult wanna-be designers whose mommas don't have the dough for your overproiced software. - davidlow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2smhill, this is different. For people who use CS2, upgrading to Mac Intel from a G5 or even a G4 would cause a *reduction* in performance, taking up much more RAM and therefore slowing down a lot when multiple apps are running. CS3 changes all that.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Dumbass Graphic Designer with too much money to spend.
- smhill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's technology, it doesn't matter when or what you buy, something better will come out very quickly. They only solution is just to not worry about it.
I wait for a speed bump on the candy iMac and right after I got it they released the DV versions.
I wanted a bigger iPod so got a 20gb 2G, only for the 3g to be released a few months later.
They announced the intels within months of my iBook G4 purchase.
I waited on my MBP until a few bug were resolved and purchased right after a minor speed bump. Less than 2 months later it went to the Core 2 duo.
I bought MX 2004 studio right before Flash 9 was announced. (luckily got a good deal on an upgrade)
Change is constant. If you are 'cutting edge' for 3 months on anything, consider yourself good.
If you really 'need' something, get it. If it is an upgrade for upgrade's sake, wait as long as you can. - caliform, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It might help you out or not, but Parallel's VM is unnecessary overhead in this case. You can use Crossover Office, which has CS2 support, to run the windows binary in OS X.
- tomoso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks amazing, I love the icons! But... too many apps! The Master Collection has like 50 applications!
- JootecFromMars, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So I was just about to buy the CS3 Web Premium Upgrade - 499USD, equates to about 254GBP here in the UK. Only Adobe are charging 455GBP which equates to 895USD. WTF? Surely they can't get away with that?
- nowisee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2And if you are a student you will get the same software for a fraction of the cost.
- cpbrown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3so glad i'm not the only one ... this mullarkey's been goin on for a few years now
- Youssif, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3someone acknowledge Paradox team to get ready !
- DonCarcharo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is quite a sad day for me. I did a cross platform upgrade of CS2 Premium from Mac to Windows last year when I got it in my head that I was converting to Windows (long story involving the ungodly price of the new Intel towers). Well after several months on Windows I went out and bought a new iMac. Apparently once you leave Mac you can't go back as far as Adobe is concerned. I couldn't switch back, not even with a paid upgrade. My CS2 will only upgrade to Windows. Therefore no CS3 for Donny.
So now I trudge on with CS2 working in parallels (which amazingly seemed faster than the CS2 demo under Rosetta).
/And yes I'm painfully aware of how stupid it was to switch prematurely like that. :) - piwy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wtf?Just realized there's no new version of director in the new package. Just hope they don't can it.
- nobleach, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6@vbsurfer: Go ***** yourselves kiddos. Your killing my industry.
I'm sorry... which industry are you in? Both graphic designers and adobe (and their programmers) are doing amazingly well. So by inference, you must sell software..... - smhill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"The future of Adobe GoLive
In November, 2006, Adobe announced that Adobe Dreamweaver, the industry leader in web design and development, would be integrated into Adobe Creative Suite® 3, and that the next version of Adobe GoLive would be available as a standalone product. We expect to make this new version, Adobe GoLive 9, available in late Spring 2007 in English, French, German, and Japanese."
Not sure what that means. Maybe it will become a "Dreamweaver Elements" or something geared to consumer crowds. - mediaphile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sorry to thread jack, but a little announcement for people in the San Francisco area: Adobe will be demoing Creative Suite 3 at the Apple store tomorrow (Wednesday 03/28) night from 6:30pm to 8pm. First place on the west coast for the public to see CS3.
http://www.apple.com/retail/sanfrancisco - hotdamn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how much was it before?
- tomoso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hate when they screw us like that! hehe!
- mongrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A kid in a candy store, where the candy is coated in heroin which you can't afford but must have or you'll go *****.
- DonCarcharo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Really? I was wondering about that actually. I downloaded the Crossover beta but couldn't find my iMac's install CD (which is needed for Crossover). I'll have to look for it again and give it a try. I'd gladly purchase Crossover if it worked well. Parallels is nice however I have no need for a full Windows environment. I just need CS2, Quicken 2006 and Internet Explorer / Firefox.
Of course I suppose another option is to trade my Windows CS2 for a Mac CS2. Not sure who would want to do that however. Most switches go the other direction. -
