Adium 1.1 released!

adiumx.com — The last release of Adium was about a month ago, so you might think that Adium 1.1 has been in development just that long. You might also think that ice cream is better without caramel. You'd be wrong on both counts. Adium 1.1 development started over a year ago, and the ducky fruits of that labor are now yours to enjoy. Adium 1.1 is now available.

Some people use an animated, 100px-tall emoticon for things like "hi", which makes words like "high" or "this" look ridiculous. Please, don't add this, let's just try to make the networks sane again.

    I understand that ICQ/AIM is what people in the US uses, but I don't really know of anyone who si still on ICQ here in Denmark.

    You wouldn't believe how many people care about buzz/nudges. We got a LOT of requests for it.

    Personal messages are harder because we need support for a newer version of the MSN protocol. One of Pidgin's Google Summer of Code students is working on this (http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/UpdateMsnSupport ), so it's coming. ☺

I wish iChat would support MSN - aside from that method of routing your contacts through a Jabber account, which didn't seem to work too well for me.
  • stuf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I've used MSN on Adium pretty nicely, but OTOH I never really know what errors are from Adium (or any IM software itself) and what errors are from MSN specifically, which, are plenty.

    1.x is able to fetch user info from pub dir., can set offline status description, has properly working contact list import/export (see File menu -> your gg number) instead of older, wasteful and crash-prone download on every startup.
    Still no custom emoticons, but rest is working just fine.
