- IHaveIssues, on 11/02/2007, -1/+23The developer judge guy looks like he's 16 going on 12.
- caliform, on 11/02/2007, -4/+26With all this wood, I feel like the desktop almost turns into a sawmill. Sorry, I like the concept, but the UI is just way over the top for me.
- random44, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13This Digg write-up has a better description. I hate digg write-ups that are just "copy-and-paste" jobs that don't really give you a summary of what you're going to see.
Oh, and I'm looking forward to using Cookbook. - hmemcpy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Will YOU blend?
- Skardhamar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Its a shame, that the concept of the app is sooo seen-before.. I mean, My dream app is not a cookbook..
- mr.hostility, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Are you retarded? It's a Mac app jackass, that was on a site for a contest to design a...Mac app. Try to keep up.
- jagg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I think something very much like this already exists:
http://www.macgourmet.com/
I've never tried it, but it looks cool to me..
-J - r3zonance, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6A live screenshot will be one from the running application, where as a mockup screenshot only exists in photoshop.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5It will tell you what to blend. Does that count?
- bkemper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5It looks like you'll need to be a graphic artist in order to create a new category.
- insaneidiot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4A mockup is what the program is GOING to look like, created to give people a look at what the final product will be. A screenshot is, well, a screenshot.
- ReqX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Not only that, but MacGourmet has a very solid history of updates that I trust will continue into the future. I've been putting off buying MacGourmet until I see the final Cookbook, but considering how Disco and AppZapper have been abandoned, I think I may go the MG route to ensure future support, updates, and features.
MG almost already has a completed iPhone theme:
http://www.macgourmet.com/blog/2007/06/macgourmet-iphone-support-is-coming_29.html - noisician, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3not saying i disagree with you, but it would have been nice if you mentioned some specific problems.
what is missing from (or wrong with) the UI that a cooking professional or enthusiast would desire? - mr.hostility, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I don't know about the wood grain look. I guess if there's an app that it fits, this would be a good choice but it's nice to keep a unified look to apps as well.
- AmazingSyco, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3See, you'd be right, except you didn't talk about the design of the interface at all. You talked about the look and feel. Design implies location of controls and ease of use.
- Quix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Agreed, hopefully there is a way to turn this off. I thought using wood as an computer interface design element died with bad Web design in about 1998.
Though wood still works for me in Delicious Library, with its simulated bookshelf theme. - wayne16991, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5So excuse my ignorance, but what's the difference between a "live" screenshot and a regular, mockup screenshot?
- bigpappasmurf, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4This is a great app, I can't wait for it to be released.
- ockabewis, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I just wish they would hurry up and get done with it already. I've been reading about this app since this was first posted:

- Artz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Is there a windows app. like this? It really looks good.
- slapthemonkey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Never tried it. WIll try soon.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Does anything look appealing in Microsoft MC? haha it looks like a tacky pile of crap
- insaneidiot, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Looks like someone is bitter that another story got chosen over his own.
- GeorgeinBoise, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2My wife and I have been looking for a recipe app for our media center forever, but there truly are none that look appealing and fit within the MCE environment. Opportunity? I'd drop a C note on it!
- michaeldupuis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I normally refrain from posting in threads like this, but if you look at the post just after that, you'll see that the theme is already out: http://www.macgourmet.com/blog/2007/06/macgourmet-iphone-support-is-coming.html
As to updates that will continue in the future, this is what I do full time, you can bet on them. In fact if you read through the news blog, there are previews of some of the new things coming in the very near future: http://www.macgourmet.com/blog
- the MacGourmet developer - ParanoidSardine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1As it's gonna be Leopard only, there is still gonna be a bit of a wait.
- ReqX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1-begin obligatory
It's a cookbook!
-end obligatory - miyamotofreak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Cookbook: The best app for CAC that Albrecht will never use.
- REBELinBLUE, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Unfortunately it won't be. The first time they posted a shot of it with wood, both here and at there forums there were many many people saying they hope it can be turned off and there was an option to use a unified theme. Sadly, they basically responded with no there won't be, and they don't care what people think.
- blakestar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I've never made much use of cookbook apps on the mac but this is looking great! wood and all. bring it on MDA team.
- championchap, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Thats exactly what i was wondering.. I suck balls at cooking, but I'd love to learn some.
- kalitaxidi, on 02/22/2009, -0/+0Looks like a great app! I love cooking! Unfortunately, most of the recipes on the internet are in English and I prefer those written in German. Otherwise I would mess up cooking. Some nice sites I found are http://wok-set.de/ http://paella-party.de/
- ashleydb, on 05/06/2009, -0/+0Here is the basic Master Cleanse recipe which is good for 1 serving:. 2 Tablespoons of organic lemon Juice (about 1/2 a Lemon). 2 Tablespoons of Organic grade B maple syrup. 1/10 Teaspoon Cayenne pepper powder. As the master cleanse does not contain any fibers, the original instructions were to use salt water flush or non caffeinated laxative herbal tea.

- stevemur, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0You might want to take a look at BigOven, at http://www.bigoven.com. Manage recipes, create shopping lists, meal plans, post recipes, photos and ratings to a shared archvie, tag recipes, generate RSS feeds, calculate nutrition facts for any recipe, etc.

- OddThomas, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3I'm a very accomplished amateur chef who hopes to one day operate my own catering business. I'm also a professional designer for a software development company where I spend most of my days crafting specialized user experiences. I think that puts me in a unique position to evaluate any cooking or food related software. The designer in me thinks the UI looks more like like an Apple reject than a "superb user experience" or "a stunning interface". Although, I don't really mind the wood grain effect and admit some of the cultural aesthetics are nice, overall it feels a little too Paris Hilton and not enough Robert Irvine. The chef in me wants to kick someone in the salchicha y huevos for serving up yet another cookbook application that misses the mark. What happened to considering the practicality of the UI for it's audience? Did they consult professional chefs or even hobbyists about their needs? From what little has been shown so far, it certainly doesn't seem likely. Dream? I think not. More like a nightmare.
- DeVS, on 10/11/2007, -9/+6LOL, a dream app that only 10 people will use since it will be Leopard only and no windows or linux support.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -8/+3What a mess. Yet more spam from this lot too, buried appropriately.
Come back when you have software finished. - tbr0, on 10/11/2007, -6/+0Will this be freeware?
- jockser, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2looks great but will it blend ?
