http://www.wireless.att.com/home/ The iPhone is on the main page. - usrlocalbin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+57Uh...
http://www.wireless.att.com/home/
I see an Iphone there. Big ***** spinning picture of an iPhone.
Buried as innacurate. - eburetto, on 10/10/2007, -3/+55http://www.wireless.att.com/home/ looks like an iphone to me
- superpixel, on 10/10/2007, -3/+43this is a story about pants?
- illegal_op, on 10/10/2007, -0/+27it's still on the main at&t page http://www.att.com/gen/landing-pages?pid=3308
- gyronic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21Digg needs a vote feature to disable accounts of spammers.
Subby is a clown. - Warptera, on 10/10/2007, -2/+191. Who cares?
2. It's still on the front page.
3. Buried for sheer levels of retardedness.
But seriously, what kind of news site would write an article about something so stupid? Must have been a slow news day. : / - harrypl0tter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16yup it is there
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14The iPhone IS the main page...
- miguel077, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14How does this obviously inaccurate stories get to the front page???
- prezzy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10lol downloadsquad sucks
- prezzy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8look at the title "AT&T Wireless drops iPhone from main page"
- knuckles, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12Ironic. The spinning iPhone is presented in Flash which means you probably see nothing when you browse to the site USING the iPhone itself.
- locojones, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13"made possible by the superior speed of the iPhone processor"
Yes, because a processor can make EDGE data run faster, riiight.
"Pocket IE sucks on all of them"
At least WM gives you the ability to pick from the world of third party web browsers available that do everything that Safari does and more.
"The iPhone accurately renders HTML e-mail, too"
Like, oh my god, so does Outlook on Windows Mobile!
"can't beat the touch interface for the speed and convenience of browsing"
Yeah, I forgot, the 8525 doesn't have a touch interface. yawn. - oneshare325, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6bury this crap!! It is totally still on the main page!
- krkeegan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6buried as inaccurate
- Warptera, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Why is this even news-worthy?
Rubbish reporter if you ask me. - 1shawn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4This made the main page only because the title said "iPhone" and "AT&T." Guarantee it.
The iPhone is still there. Buried as inaccurate. - StarBeamAlpha, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4iphone is on http://www.wireless.att.com/ and even http://www.att.com
- bradleyland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4No, you don't. 220 kbps is on the high end of what people are getting. My personal best is about 212 kbps. To *average* 250 kbps, you'd have to exceed 250 kbps on a regular basis, and that just isn't happening on EDGE.
Signed,
Fellow iPhone owner - CraigJ, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5true, but they may detect the browser you are using and give you a static image. Just guessing...
- ZombieFlanders, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Indeed :)

And I apologize for not reversing the pic to make it look normal. Photo Booth for some reason takes pictures like that. - Mikey9oo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2dugg down for innacuracy
- recycledblinds, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2still there..i still..maybe they just dont show it on the areas where there are iPhone haters
- leo78, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Hey, I dislike AT&T as much as the next guy, but wouldn't give them the blame if the IPhone fails.
Apple made it an edge device.
Apple set the retail price so AT&T couldn't offer a discount with contract.
Actually, the best part about the IPhone is the plan prices and that's AT&T not Apple running that. - biggsjm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This story is nothing but conjecture about why it was removed. In addition, it is, in fact, still on the main page.
- ZombieFlanders, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Where do you live? With full reception I'm getting 8-80 kilobits per second in Chicago, according to the dslreports.com mobile speed test (actually multiple tests around the city when I first got the phone). Once there is an option to not download pictures on iPhone's Safari, the real web will be better, but I've taken to google reader (RSS feeds) because it actually loads pages in a reasonable amount of time.
Still, I love my iPhone. - BlueDjinn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Not only is this inaccurate, it'd be meaningless even if it *was* true. Even Apple usually only leaves new products on the home page for a couple of weeks--yes, the iPhone is a much bigger launch (and will probably be on Apple.com's home page for a much longer time), but AT&T was never the one footing the bulk of the advertising bill for it anyway.
- eismcsquare, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1May be because Photo Booth is looking at the page from inside the device? ;-)
- Skeuomorph, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What the blogger may have "discovered" is that the iPhone isn't available in the online store? Once you're in AT&T Wireless's site, if you click the "Shop" button, it's not featured, and it's not in the catalog (seen easily if you show all and sort price high to low). But, as far as I know, it's never been available online from AT&T, so this shouldn't be "raising eyebrows".
However, it is on the home page of http://www.att.com, the home page of http://www.wireless.att.com/, and the Wireless Personal home page as well. From anywhere in the site, clicking the top left AT&T logo takes you to http://www.wireless.att.com/home/ featuring a giant swirling iPhone. But it's not in the online shop, it's "available at AT&T retail stores". - classicalcomp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2OK... Maybe so, but nobody is going to that page as their first choice in going to AT&T... Buried for way too many reasons to list here
- whiteyMcBrown, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3It's still on ATT.com and the wireless page. Lameoes
- dcharti, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Update at Download Squad:
"As readers are pointing out, the iPhone is appearing in various other, though sometimes obscure, areas of AT&T's site. We stated in our post that this could simply be nothing, so that fact should probably be reiterated given that this does seem to be a false alarm. Guess the version of the site in our screenshot could have easily been a fluke, capped in the middle of a redesign or who knows what else. Thanks for keeping us on our game everyone, as for now, there doesn't seem to be anything else to see here. Let's all move along." - tomi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1True, it doesn't, but the story is still inaccurate because I see an iPhone ad in the right block.
- Blazer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/96012ec276
- rasterbator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Also here (for those who obviously looked in the wrong place!):
http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/specials/iPhoneCenter.html - hayden.evans, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1umm how about a little research before posting.
www.att.com
buried as inaccurate - bmc31190, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well, it doesn't seem to matter. If they advertise the iPhone, someone will write an article about it. If they stop advertising, someone will still write an article about it.
- rasterbator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Not to mention, it has been moved to the BUSINESS section:
http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/
http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/phones-devices/all-phones/?_requestid=4830 - caffeinelover, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1dcharti - stop spamming us with your own inaccurate blogs. I spent 5 minutes on the ATT site and couldn't find a page that didn't have an iPhone logo on it, or that didn't have one one hop away.
I am sure such a page exists, but look around next time before getting yourself all excited, blogging, then posting to digg. - websyndicate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This just goes to show people digg just because. They dont even check the accuracy of the story. I personally buried this story for being inaccurate.
- skellener, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well cellphones get marketed and dumped at an extremely fast rate. If you blink, you miss the next model. That's how that industry goes. Apple had better be prepared to rev their phones every 2-3 months or so to keep up.
- nackerson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1there is a bit of validity here...with a twist.... Its a different landing page (lets say an iPhoneless landing page) because from the link initially posted if you search the inventory like so http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/cell-phones/cell-phones.jsp?WT.svl=title&source=ICE101j11b0p0600
i believe you wont find an iPhone there... but I still dugg down for dumb since the poster didnt bother to check out the main page - nightmare1228, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0To bad that isn't the real home page and it is still there.
- dasugo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0that was a waste of a mouse click.
- zilch321, on 10/10/2007, -5/+5It doesnt matter but you keep clicking and you reply
- FireAtWill, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Nothing, they already said it twice.
- crash128, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I bought an iPhone and it killed my girlfriend. Darn you aapl! All I wanted to do was get a little calimari (that's what, squid?) and the phone blew up in her precious little hand. So...very...sad. Oh well, life goes on.
- zippy757, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I guess this guy means ' It's not on EVERY at*t wireless screen' .... shocking......
