- charlesnorbert, on 10/12/2007, -11/+72#7 Apple will come out with their iShuffle line of laptops. No screen.
- Rice, on 10/12/2007, -4/+44#14 Leopard will kick ass.
- Cander, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40#9 Armchair analysts will tell us what Apple will come out with next, will be wrong, then repeat the following month.
- dankoleary, on 10/12/2007, -10/+42#8 Apple will make an ASSTON of money.
- simpleid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20#16 iPod Vending machines attach innocent children, requiring Apple to fund a personal army which eventually out-muscles the actual American army. Then the U.S. is redeclared as Apple Nation, where an underground elite force of Linux hackers wage war to save the country. I'm not really sure how Microsoft fits in to this picture yet.
- solidhubris, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19#17 People will keep making useless Apple predictions and the stock price will fluctuate +/-5% based upon rumor.
- zeldafan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18#18 Dvorak will finally say something so outrageous that Steve Jobs himself yells in frustration.
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12You forgot one.
The iTMS will have a special section designed for the iPod Flea called the "Flea Market". - aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14ShuffleBook?
- MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Unfortunately, the restrictive DRM means that the only iClothes you can wear while listening to an iPod will be black turtlenecks and jeans.
- Po0py, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8These vacant apple posts are getting tiresome. There just isn't anything here that we don't already know / could figure out for our selves.
I thought the apple backlash thing was supposed to happen last year? - cmdrNacho, on 10/12/2007, -10/+17#20 Digg will feature at least another 500 posted articles about Apple rumors within the first 6 months of the new year.
#21 All the fanboys will digg up every Apple related articles to the front page for no other reason than it says Apple/ Mac/ i(Pod,Phone, etc) .. in the title - blizzok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7different niche, cant claim copyright infringement. unless the mag is a software suite.
- Cander, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Block apple stories then. They won't appear on your front page."
We need an 'Apple Rumors' section so we can block that. Don't want to block all Apple news. Just the constant flow of rumors and predictions. - johnpaul191, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6flag-
MS themselves said they think it will take up to 5 years for the Zune to catch on. they said this before release day. it's not like they don't have enough money to float it till then. as long as it's not an abysmal failure they can just keep revising the product based on consumer feedback. considering the iPod just had its 5th birthday, who knows what DAPs will even be in 5 years. - zang74, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8That nice little category also allows non-fans of Apple to block apple stories from ever appearing on their front page, technology page, or upcoming stories page.
Ironically, those who bitch and moan about Apple stories sullying "their" Digg, never seem to use that function. - marinist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Veiled in secrecy until its debut in 2007, the iBlob will cause a new sensation for its fashionable looks, prominent Apple logo, and glowing market predictions. Buyers will rush the Apple Stores to be the first, yet nobody is quite certain what iBlob does, or whether they actually need it.
- slayerab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think that it would be in Apple's best interest to stay out of the war between blu-ray and HD-DVD since both was either created by or endorsed by Apples main rivals (Sony and Microsoft)
- mcflynnthm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Seriously. I love me some Apple, to be sure. But I'd rather see some news (or if there's none, nothing! how novel!) than endless regurgitations of the same tired speculations to fill up space/boost your DiggEgo.
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9#22 iPhone will be released.
#23 flag will once again be wrong. - creativename5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4So about the iPod prediction that he made, if it isn't going to be a touch screen and isn't going to have a scroll wheel then how the heck are you going to control the thing? I can see one possibility... Coming soon from apple the "iProbe" (or MacProbe for you who prefer) which simply attaches to your brain allowing you to control all your apple devices with your mind, with only a few mind control side-affects! Warning: May cause you to buy obsessive amounts of apple products.
- Po0py, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Exactly. Digg is a great site but it needs to find a solution to stop all this vacant content getting onto the front page. It just decreases the quality of the site when there could be some cool stuff in its place. The truth is a lot of digg users are just dumb. They dig stuff up and digg comments down without a thought.
Digg users need to learn what a Made For Adsense site is. An MFA site is something that has regurgitated, empty content with google adsense displayed prominently in the centre ready for you to click on. The link at the top of this digg post is a MFA site. Digg is just a tool that this webmaster uses to get visiters and clicks. Simple as that. I see them on the front page every day.
MFA sites. Get used to the term. - MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Even Apple FanGod Leo Laporte is fan of Vista. He's not giving up OSX as his day-to-day, but has said that there's a lot to like about Vista, and has recently bought a Dell XPS M1210 to use as a full-time Vista notebook. He cautions that only time will tell if it's truly safer than XP, but he's very impressed with what Microsoft has done.
- MacParrot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Not sure why people are digging you down. I thought it was funny and I've already pre-ordered a iBlob
- zang74, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Resorting to personal insults and patronizing comments and refusing to bother to answer the original comment. Why am I surprised? Modus operandi for flag564.
Where is this "it doesn't look bad for him" thing? Show me where it says Steve himself is under investigation? Oh right, he's not. No charges have been filed. Tell me how a man who declined improperly filed stock options can go to jail? And, tell me who the victims in this case are? Because he hired independent counsel? If his company is under investigation (quite likely due to the fault of resigned CFO Fred Anderson), it would be in his BEST INTERESTS to have separate counsel; not tying himself to improper activity conducted by a former executive, most especially when his unused options are the ones that have received so much focus from the media. I have zero allegiance to Steve Jobs, but sometimes your comments are so left field that I'm surprised even you believe them.
I'll ask for the 7th time: You're not blocking Apple stories why? - davedekker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5another weak apple story makes it to the front page... ohhh ohhh .. ahhhhhh Just had another applegasm
Digg on - MacParrot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@zang
That would require flag and naio and a few of the others to actually find some productive use of their alloted AOL time. Stop asking for the impossible. - cheez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4how do you leave off the release of os 10.5? since there is no release date, isn't that a prediction?
- fitzfan, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10#11 We will start to buy our clothes and groceries off iTunes
- TwilightKing, on 10/12/2007, -11/+13#13 Apple will finally release an earphones upgrade over the standard ones that doesn't suck.
- sagivh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4To be serious for a sec.
If apple do go for blu-ray then its going to be great for microsoft, Blu ray has started losing at this war!
How can someone think that apple has any way of getting a phone product out there? they never created an compact os-x that can fit a phone? or am I missing somthimg? will they just work with nokia or similar? - alternative724, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@mike
Perfect - zang74, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Simple: if I turn off the Apple option at the categories filter there will be almost NOTHING else to read about technology, as Digg thrives on Apple astroturf and fanboyism."
Well duh. You're creating your own problems then, aren't you?
You'll read about a company you revile just for the sheer sake of it? I have serious doubt that's your actual reason. My guess is you thrive off of being a ***** disturber and taking pot shots at apple and it's users.
If you don't like that there's so much Apple stuff on Digg.. Well, don't visit Digg. Don't sit and complain about it, like your solitary voice should somehow count more than everyone else's. If the community didn't want Apple stories on Digg, they wouldn't be there, plain and simple. - JoJoWalker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anyone else remember hearing that the new version of iChat will enable a user to view/possibly remote control another users computer? If this comes to pass, it might usher in a new era of Apple Care/Tech Support where the average person who has Apple Care can have an Apple tech remote their computer in order to trouble shoot problems. This could be a huge selling point for both Apple and Apple Care. (Not to mention it would make doing random tech support for my friends and family a hell of a lot easier.) Plus, it would make for a very striking demo during a MacWorld Keynote speech...
- cagedog, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9@flag
I see from your profile that you're a Zune fanboy. What are your top 5 predictions for the Zune in 2007? Tough isn't it? Here are a few:
#1 It will suck balls
#2 A special edition camoflauge version will be released so that it can hide while sucking balls
#3 You'll be able to use it to wirelessly suck balls
#4 It will be upgraded to support Windows Vista which will also suck balls
#5 Zune will be plagued by a virus caused by sucking too many balls - dave1021, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Via AP:
"Apple Computer Inc.'s popular iTunes Music Store appeared to be back to normal Thursday, two days after shoppers wielding new iPods and gift cards faced error messages and long delays while trying to download songs.
Apple officials didn't return telephone calls Thursday and the company has not explained why some shoppers on Monday and Tuesday experienced 20-minute delays to download a song."
Did I miss this being posted at here earlier in the week? Seems the inability of the iTunes store to perform properly during a perfectly-predictable surge would garner a little interest h-- ohwaitaminnit... I forgot - Apple *never* does anything wrong! - MacParrot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5@naio
Looking into the mirror everyday to shave would mean that you certainly know what ***** look like...wait...my mistake. You CAN'T be old enough to shave yet. - alternative724, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5this whole thing is crap
1: Expanding the mac brand does NOT make sense in their consumer electronics, the ipod is too strong. Also, Mac refers to computers, not cell phones.
I really dont think that they will change iwork and ilife over either, macwork and maclife are ***** names.
2: I bet it gets released, but also that it will be a touch screen. How else do you have an all screen device, with input.
3: If Macs get blu-ray it will be an option on the mac pro. Nothing else makes financial sense.
4: Shut up.
5: Since when did apple own parallels? How can they integrate something that they dont own? - noreturn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3And.. we still don't care. Thank you, come again.
- arjayl642, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd buy it because I laugh at the name
- pabloD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2don't feed the apple troll.
- axemachine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@ cagedog
I see from your profile that you... never mind, you probably are too busy talking to the walls. - chewy5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and everyone comments stuff like this, driving the diggs up and it repeats...
- ohmar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2where is all this steve jobs raped in prison crap coming from all of a sudden?
- chewy5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1iPod Tic-Tac
Edible fun! - danielwsmithee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes it is being added in. Nothing that they couldn't have already done. All Macs have a VNC server built in now. Just get their public IP and use chicken of the VNC or Apple Remote Desktop Managment software.
- MacParrot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it seems to be the only kind of comment he can make (let it go, we're trying to help "special" people like him)
- zang74, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Yeah, but you can't go to jail for saying "lemme think about that for a while." Unless thought crime is now illegal, I fail to see your logic in him going to jail for declining offered backdated options.
The options have no value to anyone until they are exercised, plain and simple. - chewy5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they pay there way into the linux hackers but force them to use their crappy technology. one gets a virus and they all die due to some weird networky thing that doesnt do anything except spread viruses. Apple wins, thanks to microsoft
- danielwsmithee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah I agree with you on a lot of points. Apple has put themselves in a tough situation. If they were to release such a beast it would cannibalize their Mac Pro offering, and hurt the iMac and mini offering. I would love a mini that could display to two monitors, I would use it to replace my aging optiplex at work. I can't justify $2k out of my own pocket for a Mac Pro since my company is Dell only ;( Really though they aren't looking to compete in the generic market they are finding niches in the market and exploiting them.
I don't think it is as expensive as you think for most people just you. For someone like you that is already invested in 3 large HDs and two large monitors it is overwhelming though. A better option would be a stripped down Mac Pro @2.0 Ghz for about ~$2,150.
If you were to compare the 24" iMac with a second 24" display and an external FW800 enclosure it is not that much more then a comparably equipped PC w/ 2 24" monitors and it looks cool too (which you pay a few hundred dollars for in this case). -
