- jbella, on 10/12/2007, -5/+49Unbiased is kind of hard to come by. Andy used to write for Macworld. He is clearly inclined to like Apple products. Having said that, he is not paid by Apple and is not obligated to like Apple products. I've been reading his columns for years and I have faith that if Apple produced a stinker, he would say so. This is not all smoke and mirrors you know. Apple actually produced a pretty interesting device. It may not be what you want from a phone / ipod combo, it may not fit your particular ideology, or support your favorite carrier, or fit in your budget, but there is no doubt it's a quality product. Stop acting so surprised.
- kingkilr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+44The iPod didn't do anything new, it just did it right.
- zang74, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24Hey flag, how is it that every single pro-apple article means someone's biased towards Apple? Explain that to me please? Are you saying Apple can't make good products (PC Magazine and others would differ with you if that's the case)?
And if previously working for a Mac magazine makes one permanently biased towards Apple, how is it that John Dvorak writes anti-Apple stories? He wrote for MacUser for a while there, or did you forget that? - eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21you're right, the company should have spelled their name Singular, it's their fault. I'll just go back to reading the news on dig.com now.
- boyasunder, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25Hear ye, hear ye! The definition of "phone" is officially changed, so sayeth black|math. No longer shall we use the antiquated "thing that makes phone calls" definition. From now on, a phone is officially "something you can dial on with one hand."
Thus, from now on, all pay phones which generally take one hand to hold the handset and one to dial will instead be known as "pay device-you-can-make-phone-calls-with."
Digg has taught me so much. - TheCommodore6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19And Andy Ihnatko raised the iPhone up on high, saying, 'O Lord, bless this Thy iPhone that, with it, Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits in Thy mercy.'

Thats great Mr. Fanboy, welcome to 2001. Don't get me wrong, i think that the iphone is pretty awesome and i want one (after some price drops :)) But this guy is talking like hes about to give the thing a blowjob, just annoying. - ryland2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Please tell me that was a joke- Singular?
- wqwert, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20yes, the zune (like vista) is a quality product. however, the zune (like vista) is a response to what apple did 5 years ago. in 2010 you'll be telling me how great microsoft's zune-phone-web browser is. and it will be cool, it will just be 2010...
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19the article seemed fair. it had an even amount of negatives (rumors or unknowns people point out) that he answered with either an actual answer, or a (as expected) "just wait cause its not done" answer.
- darkyoshi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17um... hey there, flag.
- marinist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13the "holy iPhone"?...is that anything like the "holy hand grenade".

Zing! Witty retort, flag! I haven't heard a burner like that since, oh, 7th grade? Bravo!

Close. He's Ballmer's abandoned love child. Hence the relentless, burning rage.
I have seen the true fanboy, and his name is flag564. - ploke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13"And I didnt have to lift a finger."
- except for typing a boatload of anti-apple tirades. - Markie1006, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Hey, it is nuthin to do with me, but I saw it on another thread and thought it was worth repeating.
Considering there are so many Apple haters here, they sure like to hang out in the Apple section. - titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Hey Flag, so people who LIKE PC products and give them POSITIVE reviews are biased too right? Or at least it is according to you because dear god someone gave something a POSITIVE review.

It is easy to drag and drop MP3s onto an iPod without DRM. The only thing DRMed that comes into play on the iPod is content that you purchase from the ITMS. You can put any MP3 that you have onto an iPod through iTunes.
iPod != DRM
iTunes != DRM
ITMS == DRM - Coopjust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yes.
- Zer0Fade, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16@ flag564 - Is that you Bill?
- darkamster07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8windwaker, hmmm, where have I heard that name before? Oh yeah! just now up top! (I misread it as flag) asshat.

- NSResponder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The zune was crap, and he said so. What's it to you?
-jcr - LilBoyLuver, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11It seems like he pointed out most of the negatives that have been popping up all over the internet but also gave several reasons why we should not all jump to
conclusions. I am not biased either way but I thought that it was a decent review and he made some interesting discoveries including the fact that Apple will
have an application certification process. - healy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@ tifosiv122
Worms borrowed it from Monty Python & The Holy Grail. Sheesh, I feel old now... - Markie1006, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10The pure fact that someone has now made a parody site is normally an indicator that the game is up.
Nobody will ever take anything flag564 says seriously again (if they were delusional enought to do so before).
This is why I don't normally block people regardless how stupid they comment. Otherwise I just eliminate my opportunity to digg these idiots/trolls/shills/paid-posters down. - Rageous, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@ Cats
That assumes Microsoft would actually be capable of designing a legitimately useful UI. I was right there since Windows 3.0 all the way up to my WM5 smartphone now, and haven't been impressed. Everything they've ever created allows you to do many, many things fairly well, but nothing great. WM5 deserves to go right in the trash can for it's lack of stability. - KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Why does it have to do something new? The ease of use is enough to sell most people. What's with the "but it doesn't do anything new" criticisms? Why do companies make new models of toasters? They don't do anything new. Just like 90% of new products flooding the market. Apple doesn't need to do anything new, all they have to do is make it easy to use and they have a winner.
- smhill, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9@KSUdesigner
Exactly. That is constantly annoying to hear. OSs and devices are about interfacing with hardware. Vista has nothing new, OSX has nothing new. They are just ways of interacting with a hardrive, CPU and IO. UI is everything, really at this point the only thing.
An iPod is no different in function than a backpack full of tapes and and an 80s walkman. UI is what makes the difference. I can press a button or I could dig through my backpack, find the tape and fast forward to the song I want. Apple excels at UI, it always has. And I don't mean just visual appearance, but how the user interacts with the hardware.
Of course the iPhone is nothing new (phone, storage device, camera, etc...). It is stupid for people to keep saying "nothing new". It is just stupidly pointing out the obvious. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"All of you guys are gay, just like the iphone
jobs can suck it"
Really why do you obsesse over hating apple so much? I can't comprehend it. Is you life that meaningless and empty. This isn't a personal attack and im not trying to be filthy I'm just baffled. - goat2, on 10/12/2007, -19/+24i dugg flag564 up cuz i agree
- bmdubya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+51...2....5.... THREE SIR!! THREE!!!!
- Sakumi, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Would it really hurt the poster to properly capitalize the f**king title properly? Seriously? It looks like 5 year olds run this site (no offense Kevin, you're at least 10). Lets try harder next time, mmkay?
- MacParrot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7no not really. It is amazing how often you are insignificant and that 9 out of 10 of your comments are buried for being the trollish nonsense that it is..but hey, good luck with that.
- klawz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8"And I didnt have to lift a finger. "
No, but you would have had to use TWO hands if you were to type anything using the Iphone. - mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Digg: Home of the overly-effusive headline.
- KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The key word there is prototype.
- black|math, on 10/12/2007, -16/+20I dugg your comment because I agree.
I dont even understand why they call this a phone. If you have to use two hands to dial, its not a phone. Its more like an iPod that makes phone calls.
"...and the software is smart enough to know that you meant to type "Tuesday" instead of "Tudsday."........"
