- corneliusJones, on 04/25/2008, -3/+50Apple should thank the IRS, because I know where my economic stimulus check is going.
- mark076h, on 04/25/2008, -10/+55i will be in line, 3g + app store = ultimate mobile phone
- Protoss, on 04/25/2008, -1/+28Video chat.
- cthellis, on 04/25/2008, -6/+29Here's a novel idea... How about we wait until there are official announcements, and not give a crap until then? Sheesh...
- macjaeh, on 04/25/2008, -2/+23I'm really hoping for some iphone to macbook/macbook pro mobile internet access ability.
- Firehed, on 04/25/2008, -2/+20I still don't get why people would want to spend fifty cents a message when you can send the exact same thing over an email for free (and by free, I mean included in your unlimited data plan).
- ShoGunX900, on 04/25/2008, -5/+20Wow.. motion based recharging.. that's such a sweet idea to incorporate into a phone
- SkaheadVa, on 04/25/2008, -1/+13Is it just me or is the tag line "Analysts say" appearing in more and more stories lately.
- Berek, on 04/25/2008, -2/+14fool
- bigsteve, on 04/25/2008, -1/+13I hope not. I'll email the picture I take rather than paying AT&T two quarters for them to move it for me via a "special" protocol.
- jollins, on 04/25/2008, -1/+12You were not screwed over. You get to use an iPhone for six months before the next version comes out, plus its not like your current iPhone will stop working when the revision is released.
And this is all assuming the 3g iphone will be released in June - TeraRealm256, on 04/25/2008, -2/+13If apple wants to sell one iPhone to me, they'll make this 3G leap soon! That's my buying decision breaker right there!
- fluidfoundation, on 04/25/2008, -5/+16It won't available on the 9th, it'll be announced then and probably be again at the end of june. Why? What hardcore mac geek is going to go to the wwdc when they could be waiting in line at the apple store? Apple wouldnt want to compete with itself.
My wild wacky prediction: motion based recharging (kind like how those high end watches do). Pie in the sky, I know. - Nikole, on 04/25/2008, -3/+13any word on whether or not the 3G iphone will have multimedia text messaging?
- rkalajian, on 04/25/2008, -3/+12While this would be nice, I want to see a redesigned MBP.
- drlha, on 04/25/2008, -1/+10I doubt the user agent would be any different than the regular iPhone, so how would you know if it was a 3G or regular iPhone accessing your site?
- viewofeverlast, on 04/25/2008, -1/+10You DO realize the Apple community isn't capable of that, right?
- zzz@tkz, on 04/25/2008, -0/+8My Baby Pony
- willgonz, on 04/25/2008, -0/+6I can't wait for the 'Leaked" photos.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -3/+9keep hating --- it has full exchange support
- MacGeekPro, on 04/25/2008, -4/+10If it is released on June 9, I will be a very happy geek, as that is my birthday. :D
- Protoss, on 04/25/2008, -1/+6Yeah actually they put in quite a few 3G towers recently, at least from what I've seen. I live in a somewhat rural town and we've got it here.
- ascheinberg, on 04/25/2008, -1/+6Maybe because it's not even close to 50 cents per message and only about 2% of people have access to email on their phones??
- digjam, on 04/25/2008, -5/+103G??? I thought it already had 8G and 16G ...geez!
/sarcasm - idleminded, on 04/26/2008, -0/+5Man Bear Pig
- DaviDaviDaviD, on 04/25/2008, -3/+8Please let this be a UK launch too, I am not buying no EDGE crap. It's like having a V6 in a ferrari, yeah it looks good and then you put your foot down...
- skunkman62, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4analysts also say: $200 price drop in aug 2
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4Breaking news!!!! ANALYSTS say new Macbook due within the next six months.
- forgiste, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4what? Kinetic energy exists when any object moves. Just because the iPhone is moving doesn't mean it yet has the ability to mine the kinetic energy for charging its battery.
- matperk, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4People can get whatever kind of phone they want. So get your Nokia and people will get their iPhones. Everyone will be happy.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -1/+5A case redesign for the 2.5g version? I see this is just a way to make the iphone look different so everyone goes "OH you have the old iphone!" Then people will want to buy the new one. People like me who just got the current model are gonna feel pretty screwed.
- Janv1er, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4I don't see why you're trolling an iPhone thread...
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -2/+6Will it at last, be able to cut and paste??!?!
I mean.. gimme a break!! - jollins, on 04/25/2008, -2/+6I wish I could be a tech analyst. Getting paid to collect information freely available on engadget, macrumors, and others = awesome job.
- cthellis, on 04/25/2008, -2/+5They've introduced new hardware at a WWDC on occasion, or announced a Mac refresh, so it wouldn't be unheard of. Especially since the iPhone App Store is going to be a HUGE developer push, there's no reason to rule out iPhone/iPod Touch refresh possibilities. It would pretty much go hand-in-hand with their big new development/platform hopes.
- ,,|,_, on 04/25/2008, -2/+5OhFrank must be a Blackberry devotee... I'd be mad too if I had to use that browser every day.
- aak4, on 04/25/2008, -1/+4Personally, I'd love to see wireless charging like http://www.powercastco.com/index.php?page=techover . Seriously, how cool would it be not to have any more power cables for small electronics. Laptops and 7200 rpm external hard drives, would still need a power cable for now. But if laptop chips become more power efficient and SSD come down in price, then maybe those could be charged on wireless power too.
- cthellis, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3When are they releasing the Lisa 2: Electric Boogaloo?
- Berek, on 04/25/2008, -2/+5Glad I actually waited. Now it's just a question of storage.
- KibibyteBrain, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3It is entirely possible two cheap webcam camera sensors would be cheaper or easier to implement with a smaller form factor compared with implementing a moving part. It would also allow for a higher megapixel still image camera at the same cost, and would let them keep the second gen iPhone design more consistent with the original which would seem to follow their iPod strategy. I could totally see two cameras happening.
- forgiste, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3dude powercast doesn't use an inductive pad, it's literally wireless. Click the link in aak4's comment above. It uses a power brick that actually builds on Tesla technology. Basically it's a capacitive inductor, a coil of wire in a round shape with capacitor electrodes on the end, it oscillates at a certain frequency and anything with the same inductor/capacitor coil in it will resonate with it, creating a vector of current through the air directly to the device. Anything that comes in between it isn't affected. Really ingenious stuff.
- BlueStarr, on 04/25/2008, -1/+4That was so cheesye
- Brak710101, on 04/25/2008, -1/+4Well, I'm not to sure how it totally works...
But you could look for the iPhone user agent coming from a 3G IP address block, seeing as how the EDGE network seems to give each iPhone it's own IP. - MixMastaKooz, on 04/25/2008, -1/+4If it also had 32 gigs on it, too, I'm sold! (And will be selling my original iPhone w/applecare for $150.
- macjaeh, on 04/25/2008, -1/+4What are the odds!?
actually...
4/1461 - ,,|,_, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3She reads Digg. I never said she posts!
- viewofeverlast, on 04/25/2008, -1/+4Like not wearing turtlenecks?
- SAOSiN, on 04/25/2008, -7/+10NO ***** WAY!
thats my birthday! no joke
June 9th, 1988 - ,,|,_, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3I have both... Work provides a BB 8830 and my wife bought me an iPhone for Christmas. You have no idea how nerdy I feel carrying both
- cthellis, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3Yeah, that's a stupefying lack. I keep thinking they're delaying it because they think it's too finicky to do the conventional way, and want to come up with something appropriately "Apple-i-fied" and "iPhone-i-fied" by default, so are tweaking the UI design.
It's not like it wouldn't take one coder half and hour to implement otherwise. -
