- cyberdork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Too bad Quartz Desktop takes 25% CPU time on my iBook G4. Time to upgrade.
- gaijintendo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12This is the only Quartz Composition I ever made, and I made it just for you guys~

It's a mix of stock samples that come with GarageBand. My similar tracks get a little less cool every time someone else finds them. - jmreid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4http://duggmirror.com/apple/33_Amazing_Quartz_Composer_Projects_Make_Great_Mac_OS_X_Screensavers/

- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Backlight is much mroe user friendly for turning Screen Savers into your background. there is a drop down menu to select screen savers and opacity and many other nice options.
http://freshsqueeze.com/products/freeware/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3per a user comment on version tracker: "You can not use Quartz Desktop if you use higher resolutions than 1280x1024."
- NikZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Same here, Zugakousaku's files are a great intro to Quartz composer, I've been using his compositions to learn from for some time. I haven't been to his site for well over a year tho, I'm glad this was dugg because there are a lot of new ones I hadn't seen before.
- feelingkettle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The string instrument you hear throughout the piece is a sarod, which is used in Indian classical music. There's some cool videos on youtube of it. Here's one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=R2OnBtNPTms&mode=related&search=
- gfindlay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3More like your comment is marked up bad. "and there and they"?
- quami16, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My computer saved it as a quicktime file in .qtz and i can't open it as a screensaver after i downloaded it... any suggestions?
- ChristianBk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just ordered my first mac (G4 iBook) and I'm excited to give these screensavers a shot. Nice find
- samsoffes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ive been using these for awhile. this is how i learned quartz.
- samkass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, then, to answer your question: no, there is absolutely nothing like Quartz Composer for Windows XP.
- ModernGeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3*loops up* Looks like cyberdork sold his old laptop.
- drustar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Works fine for me (1440 x 900 monitor resolution). Great find! Too bad it's temporarily unavailable. Another good one is SoundStream.
- Arru, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's /Users/yourName/Library/Screen Savers/
This is command line land, so every space and character case matters - Kakcoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mirrors anyone?
- limbikity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if you are like me and don't like the little "quartz composition sample" tag at the bottom of these screens, open the file in Quartz Composer (developer tools) and under "Credits" toggle the "Enable" boolean to false and save the file.
- quami16, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I saw this on youtube the other day and have been looking for it since... thanks for the find.
- flashboy131, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can you convert any video format into a .qtz file? and how do you convert into a qtz file?
- YourAnalogBuddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1direct link to quartz desktop if anyone wants
http://www.fourminutemilesoftware.com/quartzdesktop/ - slippytoad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You have to unzip the .sit file for it to show up.
- unitethenations, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've done that, but it still doesn't show up in the panel. Do I need to install something?
- compwizz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
Shows you the thumbnails, but doesn't help if you want to download them. - bposeley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The music accompanying the video is fantastic. Does anyone know what it is or where I might find it?
- bmxboy661, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you still got the quartz file?
- spam4jan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Site is sinking fast. QuartzCompositions has most of his(her) work, and some other very nice ones too.

How... how did you know? - Kam3k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Why didn't he use zip or tar? I don't really want to install stuffit.
- beeplogic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Download and extract the .sit files and move the .qtz files into ~/Library/Screen Savers (you might have to create this directory). Then open up the Screen Saver settings in System Preferences.
- StuGazzO, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Uhhhh, about the "Two Men" screensaver...gay. Really, really gay.
- cjf550, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, I may be a little slow but.... I unzipped the .QTZ file and can't find any Screen Saver folder. So I made one in my library inserted the file, navigated there through System/Screensavers/ and it doesn't recognize the file. What am I doing wrong?
- bagagedrager, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i bet you secretly laughed your ass off.
- YaDontWannaKnow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0These rock! I use the Kaboku one, and it's mesmerizing. I'm lucky, that I'm a Mac user, so I can have those.
