- givemereplay, on 07/04/2008, -4/+99Maybe if it dropped TO 500 dollars I'd consider it. These are hard times.
- bigteebo, on 07/04/2008, -4/+73This is like news of the Bugatti Veyron dropping $10K in price. Still outta my range.
- virtualball, on 07/04/2008, -5/+57Nice! Now it's almost, kind of, sorta affordable. Well, at least Kanye can get a new one for less money...
- funkeepickle, on 07/04/2008, -4/+50It's still ridiculously expensive...
- ahawks, on 07/04/2008, -3/+24Yes, we know, this story was already on the front page about 8 hours ago.
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/07/03/appl ... - DeathJux, on 07/04/2008, -1/+21Uh, you were an "early adopter" of the iPod Mini and the iPod Video came out shortly thereafter? You do realize that the iPod Video came out a year and a half after the Mini, right?
- invinciblenow, on 07/04/2008, -1/+20***** this, when is the new macbook pro coming out?
- flarn2006, on 07/04/2008, -0/+18To make that come quicker, why not buy an iPod touch?
- iofthestorm, on 07/04/2008, -1/+16That's because no one actually bought one.
/zing! - flarn2006, on 07/04/2008, -5/+18I'd rather have the MacBook Air than a pile of newspapers!

http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/voodoo-floats-1 ... - inactive, on 07/04/2008, -2/+13You realize it's not meant for gaming, and you still hold it to those standards. My Mac Pro runs HL2 and TF2 at max settings. Some people use their computer for real work, not every machine is for games.
- floejoe, on 07/04/2008, -11/+19I used to be an early adopter until I bought my first iPod mini only to have it replaced by the 30 gb iPod video shortly thereafter. As soon as I bought that, the iPod touch hit the market...
I'm holding off for the mind controlled iPod now. - inactive, on 07/04/2008, -5/+13Necessary anti-Apple comment.
- KMartSheriff, on 07/04/2008, -1/+8Your ignorance is amazing.
- neel360, on 07/04/2008, -1/+7The preview image just made me realize just how lame the pictures accompanying articles on MacRumors are.
- virtualball, on 07/04/2008, -1/+7I hate to break it to you, the mini was never in the main iPod line...
- blackjack75, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5Or those who did have don't understand how 500$ is any noticeable difference in their budget...
- mrgoat, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5What? You mean when you buy *****, other ***** comes out that is better?
***** me sideways. - colonelpanic, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5Had my video for 2 years now, and its still kickin-only reason i want a new one is storage.
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -5/+9You would have to be stupid or a real douchebag to buy one of those.
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4I work with Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator, primarily. A slower computer could perform the same tasks, but I chose to get the tasks done much more quickly, which means more money in my pocket.
- anagoge, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4Fatality! Neccessary wins.
- flare1028us, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3That's actually what I thought the title said at first glance... I was already reaching for my check card.
- john87, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3That's what I'm waiting for!! Come on redesign!
- artfuldodga, on 07/04/2008, -4/+7Not a surprise, what sane person would buy it for its previous pricetag?
- logic, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3Nonsensical statement involving plankton.
- Kanidia, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3Sorry to ask, but why did you buy a Mac Pro for "real work"? What kind of work requires that power?
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -1/+3It isn't meant for gaming, idiot. See the bit that says 'pro'? Its for people who WORK, not time wasters like you.
- mCanada, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2It's amazing how far things have come. In 2002 my G4 PB 1.33GHz 512MB 80GB HD Radeon 8500 - 15" was $2600 CAD, or about $2200 US (I think at the time). I'm not really a mac or pc zealot, but looking back over the past 6 years on my powerbook I will say that it's served me well. I'm glad that I did get the Applecare on it, even thought it was rather expensive. The G4's seemed to have higher defect rates so I may have lucked out on the Applecare roulette; as the logic board, HD, LCD and trackpad were replaced. The G4's still are excellent for the basic's but Leopard really needs ram. My point is: I opted for the high end in '02 like the Mac Book Air, but it's lasted for 6 years through my meandering degree.
- diggimator, on 07/04/2008, -1/+3Wow, it's still expensive.
And not user-serviceable. - Dunhamzzz, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3BOTHERED! It hasn't changed in the UK.
- supersteve, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2still way to much money, just spend less and get a macbook or a bit more and get a pro.
- PossFIMH, on 07/03/2008, -6/+8I was half expecting a quiet 128gb HD upgrade too
- matt247, on 07/04/2008, -4/+6Too expensive for a cake cutter
- blackjack75, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2OK, send five 5 billions dollars cash, an I guarantee I can get you this.
- Burn, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2That doesn't exactly count as an 'ultra thin/ laptop though does it...
I build my own computers /and/ run Mac OS, works for me :) - r3m1x645, on 07/04/2008, -4/+6Now it's only costs twice as much as a decent PC. Humanity rejoice!
- diggimator, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1I'm waiting for the "imminent" Mac mini upgrade myself:
http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Mac_mini - browwiw, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2How many times I got to tell you? It was Flavor-Aid.
- adasha, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2NEVER SAY I DIDN'T GIVE MY ALL!
- alexanEmpire, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2Great...it went from unfordable, to still unfordable.
- Wakuko, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1I know from inside sources an Air Nano will be shown at MacWorld in january.
Apple will redefine the concept of mini laptops again.
Asus we barely knew you! - Jenadae, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2That is a REALLY sexy laptop...
- jman583, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2Twice? more like quadruple the cost of my 600 dollar laptop with better specs then the Macbook air.
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3Amazingly still overpriced.
- clockdist, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1I'm sold.
Voodoo rules! - juicebag, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3It's still 2500 dollars for a crappy computer.
- dtfinch, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3Any Mac user.
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1And how would I run Final Cut Pro?
Please don't think OSX86 is the answer. It's a fun project, but I would never use it for real work. It's not nearly reliable enough, and I spent the extra money so I can be sure the computer will work when I want it to.
Is there any other reason why I shouldn't have bought a Mac Pro? -
