- markwilcox, on 01/24/2008, -3/+36Nate True has been kicked from the dev team
January 24, 2008: Dev Team Member Gone Rogue, Unauthorized Release
NateTrue has recently leaked a v1.1.3 Jailbreak without the Dev-Team's permission, getting himself kicked off the team. Against our wishes, he's included patches which have a strong change of containing copyrighted information, too, which may make his personal release illegal. I'd like to strongly advise against using his system for upgrading, and make it known that the rest of the dev team does not support software piracy or copyright infringement. The method the Dev Team was/is planning on releasing allows you to perform the jailbreak without violating federal law. - saralovemuffins, on 01/24/2008, -3/+20With the SDK coming out next month, I think I'll wait.

skip the TUAW - Four20, on 01/24/2008, -2/+15this was a 2nd exploit found. now the dev team still has one in their back pocket(incase they fix it with the SDK)
- smellytim, on 01/24/2008, -10/+20suck it mac users! now bury me into oblivion!
- markwilcox, on 01/24/2008, -3/+13i plugged my touch in and ibrickr said it was compatible
- SuperSunny, on 01/24/2008, -0/+9This is probably the best reason to upgrade. 1.1.2 wasn't really different. It's more for international use.
1.1.3 has web clips, bookmarklets, adjustable icons on Springboard, etc. It keeps on adding. - vancanucksfan, on 01/25/2008, -3/+11YOU ***** ***** MY IPHONE IS NOW BRICKED. ARGHHHHHH ***** YOU BURN IN HELL
that's what i would have said if it didn't work, but it did :) - jp71270, on 01/24/2008, -1/+9want me to do your dishes too?
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -7/+14what happened to not releasing til the SDK?
Is this another group? - ehsteve23, on 01/24/2008, -2/+9i was about to get excited, then i read "only for windows at the moment" and "not for ipod touch"
oh well....i can be patient - Brethil, on 01/24/2008, -7/+13Now give iPod Touch jailbreak!
- theright, on 01/24/2008, -3/+9The first four words of the article: "A splinter dev team [...]"
- f3l1x, on 01/24/2008, -2/+8not really, Nate isn't a bad programmer or anything like that (TTR is pretty slick) but he kid of just rips peoples stuff and adapts it to his own. Usually he just spews someone else's ideas and makes a product out of it and gets all the recognition. hes done it to me at least once.. most people aren't bitter about it since he does most of the actual work but he still just kinda leaches off others' ideas. This isn't a bad thing but its not incredibly useful to the team as a skill. he just does this ***** to slap his name on it (first!) Trust me, he will not be missed.
- JoeBaynham, on 01/24/2008, -6/+11Windows only? iPhone only? Yeah not really proper jailbreak.
- SuperSunny, on 01/24/2008, -1/+6Uh...so then you restore it? And then it's almost as if it was never there (the jailbreak), and your warranty is suddenly active again.
- tablelegs, on 01/24/2008, -1/+6You're an idiot.
- nightmare1228, on 01/24/2008, -1/+5Tell us how it worked out. Will it put the applications on there as well along with the extra features like lyric support?
- plosfas, on 01/24/2008, -1/+5You can downgrade. search TUAW.
- AceTracer, on 01/24/2008, -1/+5No, you're not.
- markwilcox, on 01/24/2008, -4/+8im sure you have access to a windows computer
- LuckyEMS, on 01/25/2008, -0/+4because hes preaching anti piracy to the internet
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -3/+7seems as though nate true was a huge part of the dev team.... wonder what they'll do without him.
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -4/+8Congrats. You also still have a ***** phone.
This coming from a person who moved from a WM phone to the iPhone and will never move back. - zdiddy85, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4Don't know why you're getting dugg down.
- DevinOlsen, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3Wait, so is there any real benefit to doing this on an iPod touch; it seems like all it does is break some stuff, and add installer.app on the home page? Are you able to download/install apps?
- obey43, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3i read on tuaws guide to downgrade 1.1.3 you lose function of the phone part?
- deadbaby, on 01/24/2008, -1/+4The cell triangulation features in Google Maps is definitely worth upgrading for. I'm really surprised how accurate it is.
- markwilcox, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3and the ability for custom apps from itunes. why do people keep forgetting this?
- funkytaco, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3Help, please.
I don't see the following in Installer.app:
iBrickr done
Alright! That's iBrickr's part of the job done.
Now, head to Installer on your phone and find the "1.1.3 soft upgrade" package. Install it, and your phone should reboot into 1.1.3, already activated. If you had an unlocked phone, it should still work.
EDIT:
Found it.
Refresh sources -> Install -> Recent Packages - roosterjm2k2, on 01/24/2008, -1/+4Uh, no you're not..
More FUF flinging....
If you have a problem with the phone, you simply restore it back to the current newest official version.... - MAGZine, on 04/22/2008, -0/+3I did it.
Part sucess. I am now using the 1.1.3 software, installer.app is on the home page. I have the updated interface. There is currently no Springboard icon moving, and no Springboard web shortcuts.
Yes, it works, not its not recommended. Oh yeah, and it broke all of my custom apps. - SuperSunny, on 01/24/2008, -1/+3Ah I checked the TUAW article and in the first paragraph it now says It's for the iPhone, not iPod Touch. Probably because of the way the firmware image is handled.
- SuperSunny, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2The 20 dollars are for the apps.
- SuperSunny, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2It's the structure of certain applications, like for iNES, where the ROMS are stored in an altered directory.
- MAGZine, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3So uhh. You sit there and not jailbreak? Thats madness!
- funkytaco, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2FYI, if you don't see it, add the STE repository under your "Sources" section in Installer.app:
The URL to add is http://psmxy.org/iphone-apps/
Then save, refresh, and look under the "System" area. - markwilcox, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2In other words, the unreleased SDK
- MAGZine, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2Half works. After upgrade, need to reinstall all of your old apps. No Springboard icon moving.
But you do have the new GUI. - Joshuarr, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2If he says no you can do mine.
- likwidfuzion, on 01/24/2008, -1/+3There's several third party apps (such as LocateMe and Navizon) that already does this.
Many of the 1.1.3 features were already present in 3rd party apps before 1.1.3 was released. All 1.1.3 does is make it 1st party and readily accessible. - theprez, on 01/24/2008, -1/+3Everybody in this thread: RTFA
- likwidfuzion, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Do your apps still work?
- MAGZine, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1Alright. Sorry for the double comment.

I'm in the process of reinstalling all of my old apps. It looks like they'll work fine, but they all need to be re-installed. So Upgrade, uninstall, reinstall, own. :) - M4v3rIC, on 01/24/2008, -2/+3Iphone and ipod touch have same software..
- markwilcox, on 01/25/2008, -0/+111070c11d93b9be5069b643204451ed95aad37df7b332d10e4 8fd3d23c62fca517055816
works for both touch and iphone - SuperSunny, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Yes it's me haha!
- likwidfuzion, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Keep waiting.
- likwidfuzion, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Read this: http://cre.ations.net/blog/post/iphone-113-jailbre ...
"Update - unlocked phones appear to remain unlocked and work properly after the update, according to scattered reports."
So there is no reason to install either of them if your phone is already unlocked. - sdenike, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Works great so far.
