It's internet-shorthand for "I live in my mom's basement". - Billiam627, on 10/11/2007, -9/+1161 way it hasnt changed: The price hasnt gone down :/
- stouffer67, on 10/11/2007, -8/+98I noticed that they changed Cingular to AT&T.
- gldfshnpcklejar, on 10/11/2007, -16/+8717) Slightly Less Overhyped.
- PhantomBantam, on 10/11/2007, -10/+78Did you just sign your post? Do you realize your name is at the top of your post? Why does it need to be at the bottom, too? [edit] Just checked your past comments. Sorry for beating a dead horse.
- coolian, on 10/11/2007, -8/+76What the ***** is -=| ?
- Lane, on 10/11/2007, -6/+68someone has too much free time on their hands.
- ccmmaarrtt, on 10/11/2007, -6/+65But it's the iPhone!
THE iPHONE! - zeptobyte, on 10/11/2007, -10/+66I clicked the link expecting to see a list of new features or removed features or things like that. Instead, I got a list including things like font and icon changes. Wow.. Really, who cares?
- threepio, on 10/11/2007, -9/+59It's funny - I paid more than this for my first iPod. I'm not sure why the price is such an issue for the
first widescreen iPod
first bluetooth iPod
first wifi iPod
first iPod with email, web browsing and widgets
first iPod with an integrated keyboard.
My iPod had more storage (20GB) but a monochrome screen and none of these features. I paid $649 Canadian for it. With the exchange, the iPhone is cheaper - and comes with more stuff. Isn't that okay? - fishbert, on 10/11/2007, -2/+44"none of this stuff is groundbreaking technology."
... neither was the iPod -- it caught on because it was slick and easy to use. - movingtobc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+38The hand holding the iPhone is George Costanza's.
- imikedaman, on 10/11/2007, -14/+40Are you guys seriously picking on someone because of something as trivial as a signature? That's sad.
- NeoRicen, on 10/11/2007, -6/+26duh
- bawpcwpn, on 10/11/2007, -7/+25It seems the theme of the iPhone is consistent with that of iTunes, so probably the theme that Leopard will use one could safely assume.
- tehWyman, on 08/19/2009, -1/+17@movingtobc
No scars from the iron means you are wrong. - theboohi, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19It's a list and it has iPhone in the title.
Instant front page material! - JoeLeo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16You missed the fact that a contract is no longer required.
The first three ads, that were released last weekend, have been updated and they no longer include the blurb that a two year contract is required.
A Cingular/AT&T rep, who *seemed* to know what he was talking about, told me that AT&T will subsidize the phones with a $150 discount when signing up for a two year contract. Hmmm. - ogremidget, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17On the new version of the iPhone there isn't a visible ear speaker on the top.
- Smills, on 10/11/2007, -6/+20@imike
Yes, and rather enjoyable too. - XStatic, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16Most of the list seems to be things that one might expect to be per user settings...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -10/+24Congratulations. You have managed to completely miss the point of the entire article. The point of the article was to show, hence the article's title, how the iPhone has changed since the Keynote. Simply showing all the little things the people over at Apple have changed about the iPhone. The article was not biased towards Apple in any way, nor was it trying to glorify these changes. IT WAS JUST AN OBSERVATION.
- juttman, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16The guy holding the device should get a manicure before his next gig
- WeSaluteYou, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Here is a mirror:
http://www.thesimplewebsolution.com.nyud.net:8080/iPhone.html
Coral has it, Duggback almost got it (but has coral links), Duggmirror didn't.
Yay for Coral. - totorototoro, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1217) Still not available, except in endless blog posts :p
- mikev, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10and he's a digg user
coincidence? i think not. - lepton, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Why not get it now? You'll get those regular software updates. As long as you think the physical hardware will be solid, go for it!
- cheese06, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11"Ambient Orb tracks visitors to web site." Wow thats pretty cool
- Newsdude, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9The iPhone will keep evolving, long after its release to the consumers. I don't think I will be one of the first to rush out and get one., maybe 8 months after the initial release.
- NeoRicen, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5The Speaker IS there, the 2nd pic you can see it, it's too dark.
- adiman7, on 10/11/2007, -6/+11I agree with synapseattack. The iPhone is the same. These are just software changes that any OS can do.
The article is to add more hype to the event, not just 'an observation' - matthewkk88, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4good detective work, nothing new but least we have something to look at when it comes out in... 19 days we still have to talk about the iphone for 19 more days
- ravitek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4If you take a look at the 2nd picture under iPod (#5), you can see the album "The Mix-Up" by the Beastie Boys. If you look on Amazon, the album isn't going to be out until June 26th.
(It's already leaked on all the torrent sites though :-P ) - iFox, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Why doesn't he mention the different border :-/
- bking, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Keep in mind that the size of a finger has nothing to do with the area that makes contact. If your logic made sense, I wouldn't be able to use my 4" trackpad to swing across the screen. People who used it last year have all agreed that the typing is solid, between the autocorrecting and the input itself.
- zaldoe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4cant most of those changes be made from settings?
- freehunter, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6@afx1
Apple has made handheld devices and portable mp3 players before, which make up most of the iPhone, and how much can they screw up a phone when AT&T is dictating everything it must do? I don't think waiting a few months would hurt, but I don't think it would be necessary. - OldMacUser, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4If you buy a smartphone other than an iPhone, people will ask you why you didn't buy an iPhone.
If you buy an iPhone, people will say... 'Cool!'
It's just that simple. - geniusj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Just take it easy..
- imsobored151, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2where are changes number 14 and 15?
- JePe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@ogremidget
The ear speaker is still there but is very, very subtle in comparison to the previous. Look at the picture's between example 9 and 10. - geniusj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Additionally:
* Speaker appears to be gone (or really bad lighting?)
* Look at the button at the bottom. It's inverted. - bking, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Pretty sure you have to wait for a review for this to happen. If you rtfa, you'd realize that the writer is just talking about TV advertisements and keynote slides.
- triskele, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1OK, so personalization settings (themes, fonts, organization of applications on the home screen, etc.) and having bluetooth and wifi toggled on constitute changes? The only one I can't explain outright is the inbox updates, but this could also be written off as a personalization setting same as just about everything else listed.
Not to discount Apple or anything, but this is functionally nothing more than a Palm LifeDrive with a phone and a different OS (and consequently apps), and it's priced as such. Apple is doing one thing right, picking a target audience and equipping a device appropriately. - marty19121, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1i love they added podcast
- MacParrot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I'm not sure what the author's point was. Minor interface changes (it can hardly even be called that, mostly just moved or changed icons) isn't exactly what I would call breakthrough's in design.
It's a phone, it's an iPod, it's an iPhone!
Call me when it comes down in price and has closer to 30 gb of storage. - LeeSoong, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This is iPhone 1.0
iPhone 3.0 predictions:
SD card slot
200 GB SSD Flash Drive by Samsung
28 hour battery time for video playback
True 16:9
CPU speed x 4 times faster
full OS X 11.5, supporting all applications - iLife, Photoshop, Final Cut Studio in your pocket.
Voice interactive texting - why type it, just say it!
$1999 - jnaglick, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2pretty much every single one of those is stuff you can probably change in "settings." did some hopeless geek really scour through the keynote speech doing this? agh *****, i know he did coz it's right here.
- digiguy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1NO NO NO. Apple has exclusive rights for something like 5 years with Cingular/AT&T. They made a deal. According to a news article, Apple asked Verizon and they didn't want it.
- Trat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I was about to mention it. The border around the screen appears to be thicker.
