- ifallen, on 06/11/2009, -2/+66Bringing the 3 and 4 finger gestures to the older macbooks should have definitely been part of the speech...
i about jumped out of my chair when i read that.
:-) - AceyS, on 06/11/2009, -6/+52For an OS release that isn't focusing on features, there sure are some cool features coming up! Or should I say, Refinements?
- bpeacock22, on 06/12/2009, -0/+36They had me at $29
- EskNerd, on 06/11/2009, -9/+38Now it will shut down before you even ask it to. Seems that Apple is copying a feature that Vista has had (on my computer, at least) for years!
- macfan93, on 06/11/2009, -4/+26teh automatic spellcheck sounds like a bad idea
- emt1451, on 06/11/2009, -0/+22Anything else you'd like to tell us idiots about, Mr. Genius?
Whoa, check out his other comments.. - inactive, on 06/11/2009, -7/+29Cool. Still doesn't make me want to go back to XP.
- Peachi, on 06/11/2009, -9/+29Faster shutdown? It always shuts down in under 3 seconds.
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -0/+19What the ***** are you talking about? Did you reply to the wrong story?
- Gordin, on 06/11/2009, -0/+15I couldn't resist checking 123bucklemyshoe's message history. It's quite funny. Let's just say he uses the "I'm extremely interested in science and programming.." line in every other post he makes.
- serif69, on 06/11/2009, -3/+17Serisouly. I don't knwo what there thiking.
- AceyS, on 06/11/2009, -1/+15Yeah it's a shame. When having to scam off of other people's Wi-fi's, I had to press one button to see a dashboard widget that would show me the signal strength and channels for the nearby wireless signals.
Wait, your menu doesn't show what channel they are running on? OHHHHHHHH BURNNNN!!! Haha. Just kidding. Yeah it was annoying. But at least they are fixing it. - spiffyfitz, on 06/11/2009, -1/+14My brand new Mac Pro takes a good 20 seconds to shut down, and a good 30 seconds to start up... so I'm looking forward to this update.
- KSUdesigner, on 06/11/2009, -0/+13Web spots? They're great on the iPhone, but I don't really see the point of them on the computer. They're very useful on the iPhone because the screen is so small, so you need an easy way to jump to the content you want to view. You don't really have that problem on a computer. Guess we'll have to wait to see how it's implemented.
- confoundedjoe, on 06/11/2009, -5/+17Airport Menu signal strength - so you're telling me you didn't have signal strength meters before? XP has signal meters since forever even.
- chicagospur, on 06/11/2009, -0/+11That's easy for you to say.
- serif69, on 06/11/2009, -0/+11I did a 5 finger gesture when I read it.
- jrm125, on 06/11/2009, -2/+13According to the good people at the 'Genius Bar', my MacbookPro is not a laptop...it is a portable computer. It shouldn't ever be on your lap in the first place.
All I know is I had to download SMCFanControl to keep the thing from burning itself and my nuts. Thanks Apple. - supermanred, on 06/12/2009, -0/+10My Macbook has been running 64 bit OS X for years now. Snow Leopard bring us 64 bit applications to go with it, pretty much everything on my Macbook is going to be running @ full 64 bit (including all drivers from head to toe)
Also, Windows 2000 SP3 was never 64 bit. - burrgrinder, on 06/12/2009, -0/+10You can use Cmd-X, Cmd-V in Finder to cut and paste like you'd expect.
The rest of your post is just retarded trolling. - Laughto, on 06/12/2009, -0/+9goudkamp: I believe that was the joke.
- FirstOne1, on 06/11/2009, -0/+9you kinda write like you have brain damage or something.
- miken32, on 06/12/2009, -1/+10As long as you have to buy a separate version of Windows – that lacks many device drivers – I wouldn't call it truly 64-bit. Sure it's available, but who's really using it?
- srg13, on 06/12/2009, -0/+9Also, what's do you have against unified menus? I really like how the window management works on Mac OS X... I actually looked for a desktop environment or window manager on Linux that did it the same way, but I haven't had any luck so far.
As for grey screens of death, I can't comment on them because I've never seen one on any of the Macs that I own... - KSUdesigner, on 06/11/2009, -0/+8Developers are transitioning to 64-bit applications, and have been for a while. How is it Apple's fault when a third party doesn't code their app with 64-bit support? I'm not trying to be an Apple-apologist, but you're wrong for faulting Apple for that. At minimum it makes the OS ready for future apps.
- srg13, on 06/12/2009, -0/+8Mac OS X has had parts in 64 bit since Tiger, and has a very interesting way of handling the 64 bit transition that is way better than what Windows did - check out http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/10/28/road ...
This is just the first version that will be pure 64 bit - although it will still be able to run 32 bit apps. - wisedude, on 06/11/2009, -0/+7lol really?
- tanmandu, on 06/11/2009, -12/+18But will my balls still get hot?
- KSUdesigner, on 06/11/2009, -1/+7If someone doesn't know what Snow Leopard is then they've been living under a rock for quite a while.
Also: "I'm predicting they'll do a full redesign probably"
No, they are not doing a full redesign, that has already been confirmed and was addressed in the keynote (specifically when they said that Finder is remaining the same). There are minor tweaks to the interface here and there, but Snow Leopard is not going to be a completely different interface design. - applebyter, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5Something tells me this guy is "extremely interested in science and programming".
- bigbangbuddha, on 06/12/2009, -3/+8Now why would anyone need to have "One-hand computer usage"? .... oh.. wait..
- TheCheeks, on 06/12/2009, -1/+5Split-Pane Terminal
Yes! Updates to Terminal, love it. - Chilikesu, on 06/12/2009, -1/+5More reasons for me to buy my first Mac!
- lolmax, on 06/12/2009, -2/+6This very well may be the first copy of OS X I actually pay for. Besides all those times I paid for it when I bought a mac, of course.
- blorc, on 06/12/2009, -0/+4There's a dick joke in there somewhere.
- Laughto, on 06/12/2009, -0/+4Think business trips
- vrikis, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4But I meant to spell the as teh!
- fugazied, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3I would suggest that a particular application you have running at start up is responsible for that.
- jeffgtr, on 06/12/2009, -1/+4Split screen terminal is worth half the price of admission! What a deal 29!
- RepublicofJosh, on 06/11/2009, -1/+4The newer Macbooks have a lot more to offer than just three and four finger swipes... (however one hand computing is one of my favorite things about my Macbook)
- streetblader, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3So how old does that go? I have a 2.16Ghz MacBook Pro, the one before the LED backlight. They always said the hardware wasn't built in for it... right?
- MattBD, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3Are you single-handedly trying to start a new meme or something?
- DavidTurnbull, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3Which makes sense because why would Apple give Tiger users all the features of Leopard and the refinements for Snow Leopard for $29? ;)
- 017648, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3what ISN'T?
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3http://www.neaveru.com/digg/stats/123bucklemyshoe/ ...
Did he ever tell you he was extremely interested in science and programming? - JakePT, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3Ah, so typical of Digg, people digging down the guy who's actually RIGHT.
- Phych, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3Troll!?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyophYBP_w4&fea ... - lougoose, on 06/12/2009, -2/+4Only for Leopard users. Tiger users will have to go for the $169 bundle pack with contains iLife 09, iWork 09 and Snow Leopard. At least I believe that is the case.
- BrendanSheehan, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2theres a jokw in there sommer
- shitton, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2Yeah, and it can be incredibly frustrating sometimes. You get the bars once you're connected, but not while browse around. There are widgets that will tell you the signal strength, but the OS doesn't. Unless I really just can't think today.
