Two Republicans Advocate Abandoning Conservatism
johnny2k.com — In pandering to moderate and liberal Republicans, the actions of the lukewarm, weak Republican chameleons have tarnished the good name that Republicans used to be identified with. Consequently, with the encroachment of accepted liberalism within the Republican Party, many conservatives are left wondering why should they continue to vote Republican.

We the People...
Ask not what your country can do for you...
Ask what you can do for your country...
It seems like the candidates these days like to change those lines a bit...
Before I am elected: Ask me what I can do for you...
After I am elected: Ask me what you can do for me...- alanhlake, on 04/24/2008, -3/+12You stole my lines! But I'm glad that I'm not the only one saying them! Those who will not stand for something (principle) will fall for anything (lies). America is a two party country -- Constitution Party on the right. Republican Party on the left. Democratic Party -- DOA.
Americans, vote your conscience!- greenbk, on 04/24/2008, -2/+2Democratic Party DOA? That's funny because last I checked the Democratic Party controls both the House and the Senate and in general Presidential numbers people want a Democrat in the White House too. If anything, it is the GOP that is dead. Killed by their own arrogance and greed. Democrats want a return to allegiance to the Constitution as opposed to party allegiance.
- ikbrooks, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4Step away from the pipe sir.
- flip2trip, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3"Democrats want a return to allegiance to the Constitution as opposed to party allegiance."
You're are either delusional or have balls the size of coconuts to spew out that drivel. - IslandJeff, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2"...allegiance to the Constitution" - oh, you mean the Departments of Education, Interior, Labor, etc., as well as Federal rule over states by judicial fiat under the fig leaf of the 14th Amendment?
- greenbk, on 04/25/2008, -1/+1This coming from the Right is simply hilarious. The party of "I pledged an oath to the President". The party of domestic spying. The party of torture. Pick up a copy of the Constitution and read it some time.
Pretty much the Right's entire gig is to destroy the Federal Government and to put all the power in the hands of the Executive branch. To make the rich richer and the poor poorer so the power is in the hands of the few. That is exactly what has happened with every Republican President in the last 30 years including Reagan. The income disparity widens. The middle class suffers. And every single GOP President creates Debt. Deficits. Recession. Every time. And you call ME delusional. Simply amazing.- johnny2k, on 04/26/2008, -0/+3No, it's not coming from "the Right", greenbk. It may be coming a lot from the GOP, though I think that BOTH sides of the "aisle" - Democrats and GOP - are responsible for the theft of our freedoms. But you are wrong in saying "from the Right", because it is not us that is running the GOP anymore. The Republicans no longer represent "the Right"!!

- ikbrooks, on 04/24/2008, -3/+14OUTSTANDING!
- drachemorder, on 04/24/2008, -4/+10This is really a dilemma for me. If we abandon the Republican party, we will let Obama or Hillary win. Neither would be good, but Obama scares me almost beyond reason. The man is so far to the left he makes Mao look like a humanitarian. If we let the Republicans lose, the Democrats will dominate politics for several years at least. The question then becomes, would we then be able to field a viable conservative challenge to them, or would communism be so thoroughly entrenched it could not be rooted out?
If tolerating a few years of communist leadership would mean that we could sweep it away and install true conservatives, then by all means I would ditch the Republicans and wait for that conservative revolution. But I don't know how likely it is that such would happen --- or that America would even survive long enough under communist leadership to get there. If the Democrats take over and try to foist gay marriage and abortion and atheism and all their other evils on my state, Mississippi, I think we would secede again. I would certainly want to.- greenbk, on 04/24/2008, -3/+3Name one reason why you think "Obama is so far to the left he makes Mao look like a humanitarian"
That is simply a bizarre statement. Scary, really, that you would be so polarized and blinded by your politics as to state such completely irrational BS. Especially when you consider the fact that George W. Bush is a Republican and he has driven this country into the largest debt and multiple crises on any number of levels. Scary.- USNavyBlue, on 04/24/2008, -3/+4Google: "Obama's ties to terrorists" And he is couisns with Bush and Cheney!
- greenbk, on 04/24/2008, -2/+2Great. A whole bunch of links brought to you by the same crooks who supported Swift Boat Vets and Jack Abramoff. And you trust the GOP to be honest? Ha.
- drachemorder, on 04/24/2008, -3/+7Having the most extreme leftist voting record in the entire Senate isn't enough?
What about having ties to known unrepentant left-wing terrorists like William Ayers?
What about listing as a mentor a man who was a known member of the Communist Party during the cold war, which was an overt act of treason?
What about having a fruitcake like Jeremiah Wright as "spiritual mentor"?
And that's just for starters...
I used to sort of like Obama ... but once I got past the nice shiny polished rhetoric, I realized that the substance underneath was more of the same left-wing trash spewed forth by the rest of the Democratic party. Obama is a whitewashed sepulchre --- nice and shiny on the outside, but on the inside full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.- greenbk, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2"Extreme leftist" according to who? The Right. Who brought you -- as mentioned above -- Swift Boat Liars, Jack Abramoff, Karl Rove. Gimme a break. Do your own research. Relying on the Republican smear machine is what brought us George W. Bush's worst Presidency in history, failure to prevent 9/11, and the Iraq War -- collectively the worst judgement in the history of modern civilization. Left-wing terrorists like William Ayers? If he is a terrorist at all then why align him with the Left unless you are seeking to demonize the entire party. If you do that, then you simply MUST look at your own party in order to realize that there are radical/fringe elements of BOTH parties and thusly you CANNOT with any sort of intellectual honesty paint the Left with such a broad brush. I don't expect this intellectual honesty from the Right after the disaster of the last 7+ years. Known member of the Communist party? What is this Red Baiting Redux? Please. Communism is dead. Jeremiah Wright said some pretty awful things. I'm with you on that. But again, do not discount the fact that he has done an incredible amount of good within the community that he represents. I think Obama certainly did his part in renouncing the comments that were distasteful. Please do not discount Obama's response to the controversy or you are not listening to the debate.
Amazing. Your allegiance to the Right allows you to see the worst in perhaps one of the best men in generations... And yet blinds you to the fact that the Bush family has deep ties to the Saudi royals, oil industry, and even Nazis going back to Prescott Bush (GWB's grandfather). Please at least TRY to turn that same analysis to your own party. Or won't you because you are afraid? Don't be. Truth is freedom of the highest order. I respect your opinion as we are both fellow brother/sister Americans. Again, please try to get past partisanship and media spin and seek out the truth -- not the "truth" as told by Rush Limbaugh or Fox News or Right Wing blogs that level unsubstantiated and often scurrilous rumors. - flip2trip, on 04/25/2008, -3/+2@greenbk----Communism may be dead sir, but socialism is alive and well and resides within the Democratic Party. If you had read the article you would have seen that the author called Bush what he is--a RINO.
- greenbk, on 04/25/2008, -1/+3Flip2Trip. Well that's really hilarious because I am a lifelong Democrat. My father is a lifelong Democrat. All of my friends are lifelong Democrats. Almost everyone I know is a Democrat. I don't know a single Socialist.
Here is the definition of socialism:
"The term socialism is used to refer to an economic system characterized by state ownership of the means of production and distribution."
I don't know a single person who advocates for that, and I've never even heard of a Democrat advocating for that form of government instead of a Constitutional Republic. NEVER. I don't even know where this myth of the modern Democratic party being Socialist comes from except from Right wing talk show hosts. Seriously. It's just lame. Debate me on substance, fine. But when you seek to Demonize a fellow American based on fraudulent comparisons, then this country gets stuck in partisanship and bickering.
Is that what you want??? Gridlock? Polarization? Partisanship?
Or do you want America to be the best?
It really makes me question the patriotism of the Right. Especially when I have had my patriotism called into question by people like you who have never met me and don't know a damn thing about me except for a few comments.
Please do a little research and you will find that in REAL TERMS there ARE NO Socialists in modern Democratic America. And please just try to be a LITTLE more open-minded about your fellow Americans. We are all brothers and sisters... Seeking to form a more perfect Union.- flip2trip, on 04/27/2008, -1/+2I don't believe I said that every democrat is a socialist. I too know some very fine democrats, misguided though they are, who are not socialists in the strict definition of the word. In addition, you are correct I need to adjust my prior statement--socialism is alive and well in BOTH major parties. There fixed.
And please refer to mrsteveman1 below for a further explanation of my statement from above.

- mrsteveman1, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3Form of government isn't relevant, people commonly refer to state provided services as socialist. For instance, universal health care paid for by the government would be a socialist policy. Welfare is a socialist policy as well. It doesn't have to be an absolute, a lot of the Great Society stuff is socialist, but the government itself is a republic.

- TrevaLVF, on 04/25/2008, -1/+1You obviously haven't been paying attention over the years of what's been happening to the Democratic Party. Otherwise, you'd know that the Democratic Party has been losing members, some of them politicians. (Cynthia McKinney and Mike Gravel are the most recent former Dem. lawmakers that left that party.) True liberals and progressives and libertarians have been unwelcome in the New Democratic Party, as Joe Lieberman and friends called it. If you were paying attention, then you'd know why so many Democrats get their undies in a wad at the mere suggestion of Ralph Nader running for President. This year, not only has Nader entered the presidential race after the Dem party leaders refused to back their only liberal-progressive and libertarian-progressive candidates, but former Democrat Cynthia McKinney is running on the Green Party ticket. Mike Gravel dropped from the Dem. Party's presidential primary campaign, canceled his membership and joined the Libertarian Party. He's now a Libertarian presidential candidate (as is former Republican Bob Barr). Dennis Kucinich said not long ago that he hasn't ruled out making the independent shift from the Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party is not controlled by liberals, but by a combination of some groups that also control the Republican Party. (Like Skull & Bones, Bilderbergs, Bohemian Grove members, and other shadow government groups that don't care which party appears to be in control of some branch of our government, as long as one of their own operatives is in a position of influence and power.) The majority of politicians in both parties serve special interest groups and themselves first. They serve corporate backers and other lobbyists that throw money their way. All the while, operatives on both sides are doing their utmost to keep us, the American people, so divided and at odds with each other in order for them to implement their agendas.
Had the very idea of gun control and public disarmament never gained such an appeal among the most shrill leftists and centrists in the Democratic Party and the far-left extremists at the fringes in other parties, then you can bet that some hawk in your party would have conjured up a bogus "national defense" argument to encourage his voting supporters to believe that they needed to surrender their firearms to protect us from terrorists. I pity those of you that cannot see how the tyrants are working the American people from more than one side, encouraging Americans to hate other Americans, which is quite easy to do when they discourage each side from really getting to know one another and communicate beyond screaming and shouting matches, name-calling, finger-pointing and blaming each other for everything that is wrong with this country. As long as there are stereotypes and there is hatred, this division among the American people over wedge-issues and other differences will enable our most powerful domestic enemies to turn us all into slaves. Whether we're slaves that must rely on the "master's" food cards and other provisions, or slaves that serve the military industrial complex that provides the tools for imperial global wars and conquests for things that have nothing to do with promoting and spreading freedom, or for national defense.
Most of you Republicans were played by the Bush regime, just like most Democrats were played by the Clinton regime.
No matter which party, or which candidate, we meet the new boss, same as the old boss despite any apparent differences in features, names, and method of operations.- greenbk, on 04/25/2008, -1/+1I think there are just a few more people in the Democratic party than Cynthia McKinney and Mike Gravel. Hahaha. Laughable.
It would be like me judging the Republican party by oh, David Duke and Larry Craig. Please try to be honest about these issues.

- lazerus9, on 04/24/2008, -1/+18Republicans abandoned conservatism when they abandoned Ron Paul !
- TrevaLVF, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2In many ways, Ron Paul is also a libertarian. Libertarians and Goldwater conservatives appear to be a minority in the Republican Party. Little wonder why some of them end up switching to either the Libertarian Party, or the Constitution Party. Little wonder why so many RP supporters intend to vote their conscience in November, even if they must write in Ron Paul as their presidential choice.
- kemojr, on 04/24/2008, -1/+9The main purpose of having a two party system is so that a check and balance can exist. Each party has opposing views and is responsible for calling the hand of the opposing party when they get out of line. The Republicans seem to be becoming more liberal as the years pass and the check and balance is disappearing so we need to have a viable third party to re-instate this principle. The Constitution Party can't get the job done in 2008, but needs to be ready to fight in 2012.
- iMattK, on 04/24/2008, -0/+10They are RINOs -- Republicans In Name Only. Let's hope that they leave the GOP.
- USNavyBlue, on 04/24/2008, -1/+13Welcome to the USS of A becasue that is where we are headed and this did not occur overnight!
How often have you heard people refer to America as a Democracy? When was the last time that you heard America referred to as a Republic? There is a very good reason that our Pledge of Allegiance refers to our country as a Republic and there is a very good reason that our Declaration of Independence and our constitution do not even mentioned the word "democracy".
Many people are under the false impression our form of government is a democracy, or representative democracy. This is of course completely untrue. The Founders were extremely knowledgeable about the issue of democracy and feared a democracy as much as a monarchy. They understood that the only entity that can take away the people's freedom is their own government, either by being too weak to protect them from external threats or by becoming too powerful and taking over every aspect of life.
They knew very well the meaning of the word "democracy", and the history of democracies; and they were deliberately doing everything in their power to prevent having a democracy.
In a Republic, the sovereignty resides with the people themselves. In a Republic, one may act on his own or through his representatives when he chooses to solve a problem. The people have no obligation to the government; instead, the government is a servant of the people, and obliged to its owner, We the People. Many politicians have lost sight of that fact.
A Constitutional Republic has some similarities to democracy in that it uses democratic processes to elect representatives and pass new laws, etc. The critical difference lies in the fact that a Constitutional Republic has a Constitution that limits the powers of the government. It also spells out how the government is structured, creating checks on its power and balancing power between the different branches.
The goal of a Constitutional Republic was to avoid the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy but what exists in America today is a far cry from the Constitutional Republic our forefathers brought forth.
Today we have DO have a mobocracy occurring in our streets all across America. Sadly, such mobocracy or 'mob rule' was endorsed and encouraged by Sen. John McCain who praised the recent wave of pro-illegal immigration demonstrations by saying . . . "if the protesters hang tough they will succeed in forcing Congress to liberalize immigration laws. If such demonstrations continue, I think we will have a bill for the President to sign soon . . . The more debate, the more demonstrations, the more likely we will prevail.' He was of course referring to the Senate's massive illegal-alien amnesty bill S. 2611 which did in fact, pass. Was S. 2611 passed to appease the mob? If so, it is a perfect example of rule by mobocracy!
Article IV Section 4 of the Constitution states: "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion . . .
REMEMBER: Patrick Henry declared: "Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright FORCE. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined .... The great object is that every man be armed."- lazerus9, on 04/24/2008, -1/+7Strong Blue!

- USNavyBlue, on 04/24/2008, -1/+14It should be obvious to everyone that we are entering perilous times. Food riots in various places. Earthquakes in various places...wars and rumors of wars. Anyone who believes that a particular candidate can undo the damage that has been done by the Bushes and Clintons is a fool. Scripture tells us what is going to happen. There will be an economic collapse, which will make the Great Depression pale by comparison. We must prepare ourselves for this, mentally, physically, spiritually.

- greenbk, on 04/24/2008, -6/+2>>>Scripture tells us what is going to happen
It does? What does it say we should do next?
Please. I am as spiritual as anyone and hold the Bible in high esteem for moral guidance (thou shalt not kill, treat unto others as they would to you, blessed are the meek, love thine enemy, etc), but if you trust that a 2000 year old document based on allegorical stories is going to "show us the way" through the modern problems created by imperfect and corrupt individuals, then we really are in trouble. Faith is one thing and it is great and powerful, but intellect and sound judgment are the beginning to the resolution of our multiple dilemmas.- greenbk, on 04/25/2008, -2/+2Right. Bury these comments: thou shalt not kill, treat unto others as they would to you, blessed are the meek, love thine enemy. How utterly Christian of you.

Auh - and this will go over the average Americans head because our public school education and the media have BEEN subverted by the very enemy that JFK speaks of. One only has to look over tho the east, at the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 to see what awaits America. And it is the very same CREW of thugs too, the only thing that has changed the THUGS recruited American non-Christians to their ranks!- lazerus9, on 04/24/2008, -2/+4I just dugg your comment back up Blue. And that is what the article to me loudly points out and still goes over most peoples heads here in America! That is itself shows one how far America has been subverted from within. It is a sad day in America because it NEVER used to be that way. Our founding for fathers KNEW those dangers very well.
