The Hillary Deathwatch
slate.com — Barack Obama's "bitter" comment gave Hillary Clinton an opening. But the combination of hackneyed outrage and a fast counterpunch by Obama suggests that the "scandal" may not last. Take Clinton down 1.8 points to 12.4 percent.

- PhilLesh69, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3She won't just go, unfortunately.
Being an elitist, she cannot understand that Obama's remarks about people who are bitter about their situation in this screwed up economy were not offended, they IDENTIFIED with his comments, they probably said "***** yeah! You know I'm bitter!"
Journalists can't see it either. They're elitists, too. I dated a journalist who was from Lancaster, and she thought her parents were "quaint little country people". They're almost like Fox News viewers, only informed.
- PhilLesh69, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3She won't just go, unfortunately.
- ZeroOrDie, on 04/17/2008, -18/+5I wish the "death" watch wouldn't JUST end her campaign. :)

- ZeroOrDie, on 04/17/2008, -5/+4Obviously, you are assuming I meant her. I meant the devil possessing her.
- Persian5Life, on 04/17/2008, -1/+7but i thought she was the devil?
- ZeroOrDie, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3Touche salseman, touche. I failed.
- Persian5Life, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3the funny thing is i actually am a salesman, i work part time for staples.

- Persian5Life, on 04/17/2008, -3/+6is it more honorable to fight to the bitter end or think rationally and drop out( i actually don't know the answer). none the less the people have spoken Obama 2008!
- jbenson2, on 04/17/2008, -8/+1The O-man might need to take some lessons for the people. HIs debating skills are terrible.
Tonight, he seemed surprised by the speed of the questions and all the air was gone from his answers. He had no spark and just melted under the onslaught.
The O-man stumbled very badly when Gibson asked about the capital gains tax (revenues increased when rates were slashed and revenues decreased when rates were raised). Barrack hemmed and hawed - couldn't come up with any sort of answer. A very embarrassing and revealing moment.- Mejari, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3You might need to not copy-paste the same nonsensical reply in multiple topics.
- jbenson2, on 04/17/2008, -1/+1After watching the debate - just one more question:
Who's bitter now, O-man?
- jbenson2, on 04/17/2008, -8/+1The O-man might need to take some lessons for the people. HIs debating skills are terrible.
- JonnyMark, on 04/17/2008, -2/+12Trying to stay away from water?
That picture is proof that Hillary Clinton is clearly the Wicked Witch of the West.- TheThirdLevel, on 04/17/2008, -1/+0The difference is that the Wicked Witch of the West was actually badass in some TV versions.
- JonnyMark, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1And slightly attractive if you use your imagination.
Sadly the imagination just can't fix this one.
- killbert24, on 04/17/2008, -3/+1Yeah. It's all over Hill. Pack your bags.
- AshamedAmerican, on 04/17/2008, -1/+17Inaccurate, Titanic went down head first and hopefully this bitch will too.
- redneckblues, on 04/17/2008, -0/+6Went down, head, and Hillary Clinton should never be uttered in the same sentence.
- thedragon4453, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3Unfortunately, Hillary isnt known for going down, otherwise there wouldnt have been a Lewinski scandal.
- hansk, on 04/17/2008, -1/+1i heard she was a hidden viet kong operative
- fodbirdy, on 04/17/2008, -1/+1She needs to go take a ride down the potomac
- jbenson2, on 04/17/2008, -11/+3Just hours before his disastrous performance in tonight's big Pennsylvania debate, the O-man released his 2007 income tax return. It shows that he and his wife Michelle earned a very "elite and snobbish" amount of $4.2 million big ones.
A very embarrassing and revealing moment.- Mejari, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3a) stop posting the exact same thing so many times.
b) really? You're calling 4.2 million 'elite and snobbish' compared to hillary and bill? You seem to be tying lots of money to snobbery, and even in your own metric hillary fails miserably.- jbenson2, on 04/17/2008, -1/+1Who's bitter now, O-man?
- Mejari, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1you... you're doing it again! The same crap over and over! OMG WHAT CAN I DO!!?!?! Oh, right. *dugg down* aaah, that's better.
- PhilLesh69, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Okay, then, perhaps you could explain it to us right now. No googling, just impress us with your fantastic knowledge of economics and the tax code.
- Mejari, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3a) stop posting the exact same thing so many times.
- stjosh, on 04/17/2008, -5/+4Oh hey, yet another link telling us we should like Obama over Hillary. That's... ninetieth?
Seriously, I hate them both. Hillary is worse. But this throwing hundreds of thousands of Diggs at us to influence us towards an opinion is pretty lame. It's gone overboard. - Vileputrid, on 04/17/2008, -9/+1She is going to win by at least 10%. Thanks to Obama's big mouth.
- nickcozy, on 04/17/2008, -9/+1Obama = Bush. We can't afford another 4 years of someone who is going to learn as they go (and Bush still hasn't learned after 8 years). I've been amazed at the arrogance Bush has and have seen the same arrogance in Obama. What is it exactly that Obama supporters think he is gonna do--some miracle like parting the Red Sea? Messiah Obama or Mohammad Obama. Has a certain ring to it I guess.
Bring it on Obama supporters--what is it that he has done to make you so rabid? And don't say you don't like the other candidates. That doesn't explain why you are so enthralled by him. Is he a uniter (who is he uniting-certainly not the Democratic Party) or that he gives good speeches (I'm supposed to follow blindly someone who makes good speeches--I recall Hitler was a grand orator) or his policies (someone else has very similar positions). What am I missing?
NObama in the Whitehouse.- Sharik, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2Right, and that's why it should be McCain - he got decades of experience and knows what he's doing...
...until the Alzheimer's kicks in.
- Sharik, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2Right, and that's why it should be McCain - he got decades of experience and knows what he's doing...
- qwerter, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2Ouch. Well put together, and absolutely damning.
- forgiste, on 04/17/2008, -0/+6Look, after all this, if she wins the nomination then I'm never voting again. If she gets it then voting clearly is rigged. I don't think even big business would give her the nomination after all this, because then nobody would believe in their "freedom of choice" anymore. They need the public to be fooled.
- jhkilroy, on 04/17/2008, -11/+1LIBERALS SUCK ASS - AND OBAMA SUCKS THE BIGGEST ASS OF ALL ! ***** HIM HE IS A RACIST MOTHER *****.
- DavidGX, on 04/17/2008, -1/+2Obama is such a rockstar, no one else could get away with saying that and stay on top. It only took "voted for the war before I voted against it" to tank Kerry.
I say this as a Barack Obama supporter. - Fritzed, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1I'm almost positive that they put the decimal in the wrong place. Her chances of securing the nomination are closer to 0.124%
- eMuffen, on 04/17/2008, -1/+2Has anyone noticed that there is just something about Hillary's eyes that can't be trusted? I remember seeing that thing on Digg a while back about how to tell if someone is lying, and she falls for the some of the classic symptoms. Here eyes are always averted to the right when she thinks, as if she is making something up. She has the head turning under control though. Whoever wins this election, I think, shall determine the fate of the gal - er, the United States and what direction we head for good. Somehow this just feels more important than when we got Bush into office the first time, or even when we got Bill into office the first time. This seems... exponentially more important. Maybe it's just that I've been watching the news more, but... I can't help the feeling. Thoughts?

I would love to hear from you about all this good stuff that I take the time to write. ;)
You know you love me. - JointVenture, on 04/17/2008, -2/+1Tonight was Obamas Kennedy vs Nixon debate, with him being the Nixon.
Its over , how do I know? By your reactions, you're hemorrhaging out the anus, and I must say its fun to watch. - HotDogBun, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1I'm going to masturbate to Hillary's concession speech, and if she cries, I am going to record it for future masturbatory material.
- kneelB4zod, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1She's still going to win. . . not that I want the evil bitch to win it's just the way of things in your ***** up country.
- YodaJones, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2If this election was the Titanic Hillary would be one of those people pushing children aside so she could get on a lifeboat.
- neverending, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1This deathwatch irritates me. They got their estimation of effect completely wrong on the "bitter flap" and then claimed that it was because of "hackneyed outrage" and a "fast counterpunch" that they overestimated, instead of just admitting that their estimation of the severity of the issue was wrong in the first place. They should push the deathwatch count right back down to where it was before the whole thing started. In national and Pennsylvanian polls, Obama is doing better than ever, despite the media's habit of finding drama and conflict in EVERYTHING.
- 223Sniper, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1im so tired of looking at this bitch, would someone just tell her to stop already and to get back to the kitchenbed.
- bshock, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2It's always amused me how an honest interpretation of the facts can become a scandal these days.
Though I grant you, "bitter" does not begin to cover how I feel about the U.S. government. - Pherdnut, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1I've given up on Slate. I used to love participating in Fray discussions but they've been 100% complicit in this bittergate garbage and I think it's time people started abandoning sites, networks and publications that continue to distract from the issues rather than focus on them.
