Supreme Court Justice Hillary Rodham Clinton
eyesonobama.com — Hillary Clinton's political options at the end of this campaign all have major problems. An appointment to the Supreme Court may be the perfect solution for her.

- Gemfinder, on 05/12/2008, -0/+17I used to think that until I read a news article about her defense of a man accused of statutory rape. While cross-examining the plaintiff, a 12-year-old girl, she brought up the classic "slimeball defense lawyer" warhorse that the little girl enticed her client into having sex with her.

Sorry, that ain't kosher.
I realize that Clinton was 27 at the time and that's still pretty young, hot-headed and maybe full of "do my job" over-zealousness. But she hasn't shown signs that she's any less over-zealous, 34 years later.
I also realize that we desperately need to even out the Supreme Court, but there's plenty of left-leaning justices that don't have things like this in their past.- ncairns, on 05/12/2008, -1/+11I'd like to see Edwards either appointed to the Court or made AG.
- Gemfinder, on 05/12/2008, -1/+6He'd be a good AG, or possibly Secretary of Labor.

- kdawg1012, on 05/12/2008, -0/+19I don't think she's shown the character or judgment needed by an Associate Justice.
- ssn697, on 05/12/2008, -2/+20Nearly as scary a thought as her as President...
- jforjools, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7I think this is much scarier. You're appointed 'for life' to the supreme court.
And it would be a real re-election killer for anyone who appoints her.- ssn697, on 05/13/2008, -2/+5*****! I didn't figure the lifetime appointment part into the equation. You are right. This IS scarier...

- dcmusicfusion, on 05/12/2008, -0/+15HRC on the Supreme Court = WORST decision ever. I don't think she would make it though the confirmation process. With such a close court margin (5-4) she could run roughshod through our legal precedents......
- Gemfinder, on 05/12/2008, -0/+8Isn't that happening now?
- Debmood, on 05/13/2008, -1/+10She would never get a spot on the U.S. Supreme Court. The link provided above that tells of her defending a rapist of a 12 year old will stop her confirmation alone.
- VCubed, on 05/13/2008, -0/+12She's not qualified to be a Justice. She flunked her first law exam in Arkansas, for pity's sake, has no legal specialization or honors, actually got kicked off the Watergate investigation crew, and her legal claim to fame is the Rose Law Firm - for pity's sake, again. Plus she was ok w/the double-standard crack v powder cocaine sentencing, privatization of vital services and products [including military], and no-bid military contracts w/no accountability [until she was running for office, but the Clintons gave Blackwater their first contract!]. She's just sad, really.
- MarkusGarvey, on 05/13/2008, -1/+10I used to have some respect for her before this campaign...but she has lost all her credibility in my eyes...she is a liar and has no place in our government...period...
- jforjools, on 05/13/2008, -1/+5Frankly, I think the 'lying' issue is much more relevant for judges than for politicians.
- chicofaraby, on 05/13/2008, -3/+8Yeah, we need ANOTHER right winger on the USSC. ***** that.
- jforjools, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5Yes, it's important for Hillary to have 'something to do' after the election. But I do believe being a Senator from the big ol' state of New York can actually be enough for her to stay busy AND repair her political career.
And while it's true that Hilary doesn't have to contend with disbarment issues (that hang around her husband's neck) she does seem to have one significant problem. As far as I understand it, Hillary has not been practicing law for many years now. Wouldn't that be kind of a big jump for her to make? [If I'm wrong, please tell me.]
Lastly, if anyone (Obama, I presume--but really, 'anyone') were to appoint her to a lifetime position on the supreme court, they would incite riots within the GOP that could absolutely doom the re-election of said president. (Not only do they loathe anything named Clinton, but Bill's new career as a super-high-paid lobbyist would have to be a big issue for anyone wanting to deny her the position.)
Oops--one more thing. Looks like Harry Reid is kind of nixing the idea of Hillary filling his shoes as Senate Maj. Leader. (huffpost--today) - snotrokit, on 05/13/2008, -0/+9please tell me this was written for the Onion. You know what HRC can have after the election? How bout a big ol honkin Nada Sandwich. THat is what she deserves. She did it to herself, and took Bill with her.
- Ridgeliner7, on 05/13/2008, -0/+8I am certain this would be a profit-maker for the Clinton's! Bill can be the bag man, selling his wife's votes.......a great way for her to recoup the loans to her campaign that she made!
- Berkana, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5A habitual liar and apparently conscience free back-stabber as a supreme court judge? Hell no! She should just fade into obscurity and irrelevance as a sore loser.
- BishkekBuddy, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3I can't get on board with this idea... She's someone who has no ethical boundaries... not what I want on the SC! And the Republicans would shoot her down in a NY minute....
- BaseballGuyCAA, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4I wouldn't trust Hillary as town dogcatcher. Upholder of the Constitution? Not in a million years.
- redcolumbine, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3I sort of see the desire to throw her a bone so that she'll stop undermining the party and the country. But not this one! This is not a job for someone driven by blind ambition.
