Even if it was a good idea, even if most people want it, it's not even possible right now. (Yes, I understand it is not in those exact words, but it's what he is saying none-the-less.)

If Hillary and Bill Clinton had their selfish ways back in 1996, you'd be monitored with an RFI chip and all your personal information would probably have been sold to the highest bidder to some big foreign company for profit. I've recently recieved information that, if true is very disturbing to me. I have been fortunate
enough to travel to more than 20 countries in Europe, the middle east, and Asia. I have been told by a few people I've met in their recent communications to me that a majority of the pressure to prevent comprehensive coverage of Dr. Ron Paul's presidential candidacy is from
foreign financial and political forces that wish to see the U.S.A. continue on its current path of
economic decline. Not all the countries involved are our enemies, if true, but with friends like that,we might prefer enemies instead. I for one would find it very highly objectional if foreign
billionares or governments are interfering with our domestic political affairs and suppressing the
choices we would otherwise have as citizens of our great nation.

i don't know.. a foreign conspiracy doesn't sound too unlikely, considering how 'honest' our policy-holders are these days. i honestly wouldn't be surprised, and it would actually make a lot of sense. @susanFL: although i agree that our system of importing/exporting is being taken for granted by our o-so-great leaders only to be used for the purpose of pure capital gain by whatever means possible, we cannot STOP importing and exporting. you have to realize that although we do need to cut down our foreign dependencies, we can't cut them off completely. other countries have resources that we don't. we would be a completely different country if we were completely self-sustaining. yes, we need to keep jobs here for our own people. yes, it would be nice to buy more products with a sticker saying 'made in the USA.' yes it would be nice to have job security and not worry about being stripped of employment only to be replaced by someone working for cheaper wages. but it's so much more complicated than a simple 'we need to conrol our borders' and 'stop importing/exporting!' I like Ron Paul because he's the only candidate whose projected policies don't scare me to death. i don't agree with absolutely everything he believes, but i agree with him on the things that will save our country. as far as the media goes, they're really missing out on an important slice of political pie when they don't include Ron Paul in their campaign coverage.

I can't imagine how anyone could think it's a good idea to allow the government to keep a database of everyone's health care information. I find it appalling that the government thinks its government business what I say to my own doctor. THIS is what we are heading to with Universal Healthcare... a big brother society where I pay for everyone else's health care in exchange for losing all control over my own private affairs.

I read an article once that Ron Paul is so small government that he really does not do much on congress. Well, this article proves that Paul does a hell of a lot on the hill.

The FDA has begun 2008 by forbidding compounding pharmacists to use estriol in their natural hormone formulations because the agency doesn't have a specified approved use for it. They took this action because Wyeth complained about it. And yet, Wyeth-Pharma sells two types of estriol drugs in Europe, so we know this is not a safety and efficacy issue.

It's shameful of Wyeth to use its clout and money to bully and beat on the competition through the FDA, but by now we expect that behavior from them. Expect more of this kind of corruption under Nationalized health care. You will get less and less say in what you do in directing your own health care.

Wyeth is the giant pharmaceutical company that makes Premarin and PremPro, synthetic hormones found to cause heart disease, strokes and cancer. If we do some rough calculations based on statistics from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI), Wyeth's hormone replacement drugs have killed tens of thousands of women over the past few decades. Sales of these dangerous drugs have plummeted since the WHI results were announced, and women who were injured by them and sued, are winning millions in damages in courtrooms around the U.S.

Estriol, on the other hand, is a mild (natural) estrogen that's primarily used in cream form for vaginal dryness and urinary tract problems in menopausal women. It's been in common use in Europe for 30 years, and its safety and effectiveness are well established. Many doctors in the U.S. who use natural hormones prescribe tri-est and bi-est, estrogen cream formulations made by compounding pharmacies that contain estriol.

In August 2006, drug maker Wyeth settled their legal woes brought on by the diet drug fen-phen, the use of which was linked to cases of heart disease.

Then in October 05, 2006- A Philadelphia jury declared Wyeth's HRT drug caused an Ohio woman's breast cancer and awarded her $1.5 million in damages--after Wyeth's hormone replacement drug Prempro was found to be the cause of the woman's breast cancer.

Wyeth is currently facing roughly 5,000 lawsuits over its hormone replacement therapy (HRT) drugs.

So who are they to be telling the FDA to restrict American Women's right to use safe, natural hormone such as estriol?
Wyeth (and the FDA) is unethical in the extreme, and is only interested in monetary gain, NOT women's health.

FDA BANS HORMONE PRODUCED BY HUMAN BODY AS "UNAPPROVED" DRUG

Countless women currently rely on replacement hormones that are prescribed by their doctors and compounded in local pharmacies. These compounded hormones are biologically identical to the ones produced in the human body. The formulas include bio-identical, naturally occurring estrogen hormones such as estriol.

Nevertheless, on January 9, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ordered pharmacies to stop providing bio-identical estriol. Even though 80% of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy prescriptions use it, and estriol is manufactured by the human body, the FDA makes the outrageous and nonsensical claim that estriol is "a new and unapproved drug" and that "the safety and effectiveness of estriol is unknown."

BIO-IDENTICAL ESTRIOL IS SAFE
In a press conference, the FDA admitted that no adverse event involving compounded bio-identical estriol has ever been reported. Research involving 15,000 women funded by the Department of Defense and conducted at Kaiser-Permanente Oakland found that women who produced the most estriol during their first pregnancy had 58% less breast cancer over the next forty years.

Every woman who has ever had a menstrual cycle or been pregnant knows that natural estriol is both safe and effective. Estriol is a major estrogen throughout a woman's reproductive years, and soars to enormous levels (up to a thousand times) during pregnancy. How can bio-identical estriol, identical to every woman's natural estriol, be unsafe or ineffective? And how can the FDA claim that a substance present in our bodies from the dawn of humanity is a "new and unapproved drug"?
SPEAKING THE TRUTH IS NOT A "FALSE CLAIM"
The FDA is also ordering pharmacies to stop using the terms "bio-identical hormone replacement therapy" and "BHRT" on the grounds that these terms represent "false claims." False claims do exist in any field and should not be allowed. But describing these hormones accurately is not a false claim.
WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
For decades the FDA has called any claim about a natural substance, no matter how accurate, a "false claim" if it is not specifically FDA "approved." But there's a big "Catch-22": It costs up to a billion dollars to achieve FDA approval. As a general rule, companies cannot afford to spend these huge sums unless their drug is patent-protected. And again, as a general rule, natural substances such as bio-identical hormones cannot be patent-protected. As a result, the FDA has "approved" only a very small handful of natural substances, sometimes only after being sued and ordered to do so by a judge.

Bottom line: The FDA says that natural substances must be "approved" to make any claims about them, but knows full well that, under the current FDA system, there is no way to get most natural substances "approved."
WHY IS THE FDA SO HOSTILE TO "NATURAL" MEDICINE?
"Alternative," "natural," and "integrative" medicine is booming today. A growing number of doctors and patients believe that natural substances are often safer and more effective than synthetic, hyperexpensive but "approved" patent medicines (drugs). So why is the FDA so hostile?

A possible explanation: the FDA is worried that natural substances will eat into the sales and profits of its clients, the big drug companies. Fees from the big drug companies pay for a sizeable share of the FDA's budget and staff. There are many other financial ties as well.

In October 2005, Wyeth, a large patent medicine (drug) company, filed a "citizens' petition" demanding that the FDA ban bio-identical hormones that compete with Wyeth's synthetic hormones. Sales of Wyeth's hormones had plummeted as more and more women and their doctors turned to bio-identical hormones. (Recently Wyeth has faced layoffs and facility closings for this and other reasons.) Over 70,000 women, pharmacists, and doctors wrote to the FDA, the overwhelming majority asking the Agency to reject Wyeth's attempt to shut down the competition and preserve access to bio-identical hormones. The FDA sided against the women and with Wyeth.
ARE THE FDA "APPROVED" DRUGS SAFE?
And what do we know about the "approved" patent medicines (drugs) from Wyeth and others that the FDA wants you and your doctor to use for hormone replacement? These once-bestselling drugs come from horses or are imprecise versions of natural human hormones. Why would any woman prefer horse hormones or imprecise-yet-patentable copies of human hormone molecules to ones precisely identical to those found naturally in her body?

Studies have also raised questions about possible heart and cancer risks from these hormones. (See the Journal of the American Medical Association 288 [3], pp. 321-333; [7], pp. 872-884). This is why these drugs currently have Black Box Warnings on them.

dexterdenueve: The first thing you need to understand is our Federal Reserve is not Federal at all. It is made up of private International bankers. They have financed both sides of every war we have fought--yet they print our worthless money backed by nothing and charge our government interest to use it. Congress is the only Constitutional body authorized to coin our money and it has to be backed by Gold and Silver deposits in the treasury. That way our elected representation is never able to spend more than what we have reserves for. There would be no interest on Americas money because it would belong to America. It is only to be used to facilitate trade---after the debt is settled it would be withdrawn from circulation because it had served the purpose it was printed for.
