- truthfightsback, on 09/21/2008, -2/+11Each one of the things Palin keeps repeating over and over, like a mockingbird, turn out to be lies. The scary thing is that they're sussed out right quick, and it still doesn't stop the flow of lies form the podium. If this is how they campaign, we've been fully warned on how they'd preside. You can add "Lies are Truth" to their litany of "War is Peace, Ignorance is Strength, and Freedom is Slavery."

Approximately half of the proposed pipeline would run through Canada; native tribes who live along its route complain they haven't been consulted about it and are threatening to sue unless they are compensated. Representatives of the canadian tribes, known as First Nations, say Palin and other pipeline proponents are treating them with disrespect. The tribes' lawyers warn that the courts are on their side and say the Indians have the power to delay the pipeline for years—or even kill it entirely by filing endless lawsuits.
Kurt Gibson, one of Alaska's top officials overseeing the pipe-line project, says it is "premature" in the process to start consulting with Canadian Indians.
The state hired Canadian lawyers, who produced a lengthy report warning about possible lawsuits and cautioning that First Nations in Canada's Yukon Territory could be among the "most litigious." The report estimated that the Indians could delay the pipeline for up to seven years. But Jeffrey Rath, a lawyer for First Nations, says this timetable is "wildly optimistic." He notes that one of his clients, the 250-member Prophet River First Nation, litigated an unrelated land claim for 11 years before recently settling. Liz Logan, chief of a First Nations umbrella group in British Columbia, told NEWSWEEK that TransCanada, the company Palin's administration selected to pursue the project, has "very much downplayed the extent of the legal difficulties they face in Canada." One of Canada's top pipeline experts, Professor Andre Plourde of the University of Alberta, agrees that the seven-year timetable proposed by Palin's lawyers for sorting out First Nations claims is "optimistic indeed." - sjsuarez, on 09/21/2008, -0/+8"Representatives of the canadian tribes, known as First Nations, say Palin and other pipeline proponents are treating them with disrespect. - oldgal, on 09/21/2008, -0/+5I went out to research the pipeline project and can find nothing on it, which surprises me. I was curious why they would route it through Canada rather than take it down to Valdez Harbor. North Slope oil goes to Valdez Harbor - this decision was made because U.S./Canadian relations were piss poor at the time (acid rain from U.S. going into Canada) and it was realized at the time, that it is best to stay independent of international negotiations where possible. (Information Source: me - I did some of the modeling for the original North Slope feasibility studies)
- Matericia, on 09/21/2008, -1/+7It reminds me of the skating rink she built with taxpayer money on disputed land. It cost 12 million dollars. The deal was not properly closed and the taxpayers had to pay 1 million more.
Lipstick contains lead which could be why she's so aggressive and not very smart. - richirwin, on 09/21/2008, -1/+6Very reminiscent of the letter by Anne Kilkenny stating the following...
The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a new library? No. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was still in litigation 7 yrs later--to the delight of the lawyers involved!
Ready. Fire. Aim.

- ScienceDoc, on 09/21/2008, -0/+3Palin is a fraud just like McSame. Bottom line.
- anonblog2008, on 09/21/2008, -0/+2Palin must be using her expert foreign policy skills because you can see Canada from parts of Alaska.
- WomenObama, on 09/22/2008, -0/+2I very rarely write comments, however, I am so tired of the abusive way Palin makes decisions. It is her way or the highway! She is definitely a pitbull with lipstick. I once saw a pitbull tear into a concrete wall trying to get at a rat, and all that pitbull did was tear up its own face, because that is how stupid pitbulls are! They cut off their noses to spite their own face. That is what she is doing!! OMG McCain is going to go down the drain. Thank God he picked her!!
