- Barbrady, on 04/29/2008, -5/+13Obama throws Wright under the bus! LOL
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/29/2008, -3/+11TWENTY YEARS Obama was in this guy's church!
Only now is he outraged! And Wright's comments yesterday were pretty mild compared to some of the stuff he's said previously that is all over YouTube.- Barbrady, on 04/29/2008, -3/+10He's only outraged now because he realizes how it's damaging his campaign.
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2Just a few months ago at a pastors' conference, Obama said these words:
"And then I’ve got to give a special shout out to my Pastor. The guy who puts up with me, counsels me, listens to my wife complain about me. He’s a friend and a great leader not just in Chicago but all across the country"
Today, Obama said:
"you know, he was never my, quote-unquote, 'spiritual advisor.' He was never my 'spiritual mentor.'"
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/29/2008, -3/+11TWENTY YEARS Obama was in this guy's church!
- NameTry2468, on 04/29/2008, -6/+3Do it! Obama, please rid yourself of this man once and for all.
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/29/2008, -3/+12Rid himself of Wright? I think Obama has only tightened his connection with Wright with this speech.
I've been to a LOT of churches. You know within a few months where a pastor is coming from, without question. There's no way you can say that Obama was in this guy's church for TWENTY YEARS and didn't know who Wright was. Michelle Obama even echoes a lot of the sentiment from their pastor!
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/29/2008, -3/+12Rid himself of Wright? I think Obama has only tightened his connection with Wright with this speech.
- sjl127, on 04/29/2008, -4/+12I don't believe him. His wife loves Wright. Wright married them, and he sat his his church for years. Wright all of the sudden didn't change his beliefs overnight. This is a charade.
- LibertyForever, on 04/29/2008, -3/+10So presumably he's going to disown him? Even tho he said he couldn’t do that without disowning his own grandmother? Or is "outraged" just words words words pronounced for "electability" (as Wright said)?
- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1Remember, Obama said words matter...how can he think people don't see through his political moves...he knew that Wright was controversial...
- boston02115, on 04/29/2008, -3/+8If Obama refuses to acknowledge and break this cult-like hold over his wife by Wright, it will cost him the Presidency.
- pbd1637, on 04/29/2008, -1/+1He has already lost the presidency. The "bitter white" voters make up a larger block than the African Americans. It's over. Hilliary won't get the African vote, or the male vote. Can you spell McCain?
- NYPD, on 04/29/2008, -2/+9Wright was pretty calm yesterday. Obama sat in Church for 20 years. Obama is Lying about so much more.
Super can change there vote anytime they want to. Obama will never win now. He just said "I denounce Rev. Wright now, but I didn't 30 days ago." TOAST OBAMA TOAST!
How can you trust him? If you think and use your brain you can't. You know it's true so digg me down and that will make it all better.- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1I am digging you Up!
- NYPD, on 04/30/2008, -0/+0Thanks, I can't believe how digg works. This story should be on the front. At least for a day. ***** them.
- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1I am digging you Up!
- AustinMandi, on 04/29/2008, -2/+6This seems rather disingenuous of Obama and makes me wonder how well he would hold up under pressure. Just because the msm refuses to let this die, you roll over and denounce your pastor and spiritual adviser of 20 years to save face and a few national percentage electability points? I have many friends and family members who do really stupid (and sometimes criminal) things or have beliefs that I don't agree with, but I don't disown them for it.
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/29/2008, -2/+4Actually, the MSM is doing the best that they can to cover for Obama. There's at least four major TV stations in NC (two in Raleigh, two in Charlotte) that are refusing to run a Republican ad that questions the link between Obama and his pastor.
- NYPD, on 04/29/2008, -4/+5WE DON'T KNOW OBAMA. NONE OF US KNOW THIS MAN. Rev.
Wright sounded pretty damn nice yesterday and not like the Racist he really is.
WE DON'T KNOW OBAMA. NONE OF US KNOW THIS MAN.
Why didn't Obama do this 20 years ago? Why not 60 days ago? Why not 30 days ago.
WE DON'T KNOW OBAMA. NONE OF US KNOW THIS MAN.
They still go to the Church right now.
WE DON'T KNOW OBAMA. NONE OF US KNOW THIS MAN.
Obama read the Tea Leafs along time ago and was waiting for the chance.
WE DON'T KNOW OBAMA. NONE OF US KNOW THIS MAN.
Obama can not make this go away.
WE DON'T KNOW OBAMA. NONE OF US KNOW THIS MAN.
"Michelle Loves Rev. Wright and talks just like him everywhere she goes."
WE DON'T KNOW OBAMA. NONE OF US KNOW THIS MAN. - diggFunction, on 04/29/2008, -3/+12Too little too late. You had your chance and only now when you back is against the wall do you disown him. Hardly the voice of change.
Typical politician...- NYPD, on 04/29/2008, -2/+7You got that right. Maybe worse than most.
- goforbroke, on 04/29/2008, -0/+4Yes because he is trying to learn as he campaigns and needs to find reinforcement in sentiment to choose which way to turn. Hardly a good quality for a supposed leader especially running for President.
- NYPD, on 04/29/2008, -2/+7You got that right. Maybe worse than most.
- MadKennyP, on 04/29/2008, -11/+1"Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.
The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation. When these statements first came to my attention, it was at the beginning of my presidential campaign. I made it clear at the time that I strongly condemned his comments. But because Rev. Wright was on the verge of retirement, and because of my strong links to the Trinity faith community, where I married my wife and where my daughters were baptized, I did not think it appropriate to leave the church.
Let me repeat what I've said earlier. All of the statements that have been the subject of controversy are ones that I vehemently condemn. They in no way reflect my attitudes and directly contradict my profound love for this country."
-- Barack Obama, March 14, 2008.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/barack-obama/on-my-f ...- Charlotte_Web, on 04/29/2008, -1/+9...except that when Michelle Obama speaks, she sounds like she's reading from Rev. Wright's talking points.
Watching videos of him on YouTube, Wright is obviously a guy that loves to say controversial things. You can't tell me that, over 20 years, Obama didn't have a clue.- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2Wouldn't that be a great SNL skit - everytime Obama walks in the room Wright acts like a very calm pastor. When Obama leaves the room Wright becomes a ranting preacher...LOL...
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/29/2008, -1/+9...except that when Michelle Obama speaks, she sounds like she's reading from Rev. Wright's talking points.
- NYPD, on 04/29/2008, -3/+7Obama said ....."I couldn’t disown Rev. Wright anymore than I could disown the Black Community."......
So I guess we are next...... Black people wake up. ......This Guy is not our Messiah.
************************Vote for anyone but Benedict (OBAMA) Arnold.****************************** - oldhick, on 04/29/2008, -2/+8I'd be interested to hear from the Obama/Wright supporters. For weeks on Digg I've read article after article and comment after comment about how "right" Wright is and how anyone who was uncomfortable with his message is an *****.
Does your perspective change now as Obama himself begins to condemn and increase the distance between the two? It seems either Wright is wrong or Obama is wrong... Gimme some feedback peoples! - MadKennyP, on 04/29/2008, -9/+2"Let me repeat what I've said earlier. All of [Wright's] statements that have been the subject of controversy are ones that I vehemently condemn. -- Barack Obama, March 14, 2008.- Troika37, on 04/29/2008, -1/+10"Obama says what he has to say as a politician."
--Jeremiah Wright, April 25, 2008- MadKennyP, on 04/30/2008, -1/+1Wright doesn't speak for Obama.
- goforbroke, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2It may have helped Barack to have started with the truth instead of avoidance and platitudes. Most everything he has said has had no substance but contained some phrase or word that drove emotion. He should have been told that this would not work when the political wheels really start scrutinizing everything past and present.
- Troika37, on 04/29/2008, -1/+10"Obama says what he has to say as a politician."
- wright3279, on 04/29/2008, -1/+7Maybe the Obama nuts who have been saturating digg with pro-Obama and anti-Hillary stuff will slow down a bit? Nah.
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/29/2008, -0/+5This story won't even make the front page.
- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2Yes, Obama supporters do tend to digg down reality.
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/29/2008, -0/+5This story won't even make the front page.
- henrikakselsen, on 04/29/2008, -2/+1I feel bad for Obama. Wright is a loose cannon on deck if there ever was one.
- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3I somewhat see your point but Obama does seem like he is lying...he has not explained this.
