Obama eager to campaign WITH McCain

reuters.com — Barack Obama said on Saturday he would be willing to campaign jointly with Republican John McCain and acknowledged he needed to better introduce himself to Americans.

  • KLBP, on 05/11/2008, -1/+6Apparently John McCain and Bill Bradley did this in 2000 and I agree that it would be a great idea this time around. A series of open town hall meetings featuring both Obama and McCain would be a much better format than the having a MSM moderator control all the questions in a debate (e.g. Clinton vs. Obama on ABC a few weeks ago). I think both McCain and Obama are well suited for a series of open town hall meeting style debates and the voters could stand to learn a lot about both candidates from such a format.

There are very real policy differences between them which gives them a better opportunity to compare and contrast themselves against each other. There weren't enough real policy differences between Hillary and Obama to create much substance in debates.

    Obama would hand McCain a smackdown in townhall debates. McCain is not the greatest speaker or thinker out there; he has difficulty reading in even reading the teleprompter.
