Michelle Obama Defended Partial-Birth Abortions
lifenews.com — Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Michelle Obama, the attorney wife of pro-abortion Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, is coming under fire for a letter she wrote defending partial-birth abortions. The 2004 letter, written to help Obama in his campaign for his U.S. Senate seat, opposes the ban on the abortion procedure.

- prolifemama, on 05/21/2008, -4/+9Sounds like Michelle has sold her soul to the devil. She'll evidently support anything, no matter how heinous, to appear a good liberal and establishment dem.
You wonder if she knows that PBA is not an emergency procedure. No pregnant woman whose life is truly endangered can afford to wait the three days a PBA requires.- wardawg31, on 05/22/2008, -2/+2Maybe one of her staff members wrote it for her?
- prolifemama, on 05/23/2008, -2/+1Doesn't matter - if her signature's on it, she's approved it. She's also ignorant of the facts of PBA, and those include the procedure never being necessary to protect a woman's life or future fertility. In fact, during the 104th, 105th and 107th Congresses, Congress found that
"Partial-birth abortion poses serious risks to the health of a woman undergoing the procedure. Those risks include, among other things: an increase in a woman's risk of suffering from cervical incompetence, a result of cervical dilation making it difficult or impossible for a woman to successfully carry a subsequent pregnancy to term; an increased risk of uterine rupture, abruption, amniotic fluid embolus, and trauma to the uterus as a result of converting the child to a footling breech position, a procedure which, according to a leading obstetrics textbook, "there are very few, if any, indications for …other than for delivery of a second twin"; and a risk of lacerations and secondary hemorrhaging due to the doctor blindly forcing a sharp instrument into the base of the unborn child's skull while he or she is lodged in the birth canal, an act which could result in severe bleeding, brings with it the threat of shock, and could ultimately result in maternal death."

- catholic2u, on 05/21/2008, -5/+8It is beyond my comprehension how anyone can be for abortions. Since her husband also condones not treating a baby born alive after a botched abortion, I assume she approves of that as well. Heaven help us all if these pwople get in the White House.
- Yobotz, on 05/22/2008, -2/+1Help elect Alan Keyes President. Petitions need to be circulated in many States. If all pro-lifers, Christians, conservatives, work together, we CAN make this happen. We DON"T have to vote for an extreme-liberal, or a even a half-liberal who cooperates with liberals. We can put a 100% pro-life Reagan-conservative on the ballot in November. Don't be afraid. www.alankeyes.com - kayala, on 05/27/2008, -1/+1I have no problem with you not wanting to get an abortion yourself, but can't you try real hard to just focus on your own life and not concern yourself with the private matters of others? Don't pull this "abortion is murder" crap on me, because it's simply not.
- Yobotz, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1Give this some logical thought. We're talking about a prenatal baby. So what you're saying, if true, should be true in this circumstance as well:
"I have no problem with you not wanting to kill your sister, but can't you try real hard to just focus on your own life and not concern yourself with the private matters of others [if they want to kill their siblings]?"
Let's not hide it behind euphamism. Abortion is the killing a human being. Don't believe me? www.lifebeginsatconception.com

- TYRONEBR549, on 05/22/2008, -4/+6Speechless. saddened.
- HappyPick, on 05/30/2008, -0/+0Yes, this not only leaves us speechless and saddened, but horrified as well. I am a retired registered nurse and have always refused to work in obstetrics because of abortion! Abortion is murder, pure and simple! Once while working in ICU we had a young female as a patient who had performed an abortion on herself at 3 months term. She was very glad to have that nuisance taken care of with finality! I had to treat her with the same compassion I gave to all others - it was not easy! Someone had placed her aborted child, a perfectly formed baby boy, in preservative in a glass jar, and I wept to see him.
- allisonrose870, on 05/22/2008, -3/+5Just be careful about calling Miss Anti-America&Life Michelle who wants to be our First Lady out to task for her words and views that are on the record. How dare anyone investigative or put her under the microscope! By Obama's account, their supporters and the good ole reliable MSM, that's unfair in politics and a personal attack against her and Obama. Such hypocritical cry-babies. Like that's going to dispel [pro]Americans from calling a spade a spade and making them answer for their philosophies they want to bring into the White House and make policy out of for at least the next four years.

- Barbary, on 05/22/2008, -3/+5A well-matched couple! I used to think Bill and Hillary were the modern Ahab and Jezebel, but B. Hussein and Michelle...whoa!
- kayala, on 05/27/2008, -1/+2Still on the Hussein *****? You really latched on to that moronic idea, didn't you?
- proveritas, on 05/22/2008, -2/+2No one will lay off her - she made the choice of opening her mouth. Laura Bush is pro-choice. What about McCains wife - what is her position? It is open season on candidates wives if they choose to show their support for their husband's position on the culture of death. IF Obama's own daughters happened to get "accidentally" pregnant" which by the way, only happens when a female is willing to spread her legs (forget rape -I am talking willingly spreading your legs) then they will gladly force their daughter/s through emotional blackmail to brutally murder their children, their grandchildren - and they don't think this will scar their daughter/s for life??????? Ask women who have had abortions - the mental anguish and stress is REAL! They have to live with their decision for the rest of their lives. Even after they make peace with God, the pain will always be there. God help us if this couple win the white house and start their own reign of terror on America. Sorry, I am not usually so vocal - but this woman and her husband are enemies of Christian values and I expect to be dugg down.
- anstice85, on 05/22/2008, -1/+2I know women who have had abortions very well and they experienced minimal anguish. It's a very individualized thing.
- kayala, on 05/27/2008, -2/+1He never said he'd force his daughters to have abortions. Pull your head out of your ass.
- kemojr, on 05/22/2008, -2/+3I don't see how anyone with a conscience could countenance the killing of an infant that is in the process of being born. This is an act of cold blooded murder and is damnable by any standard of decency.
- kayala, on 05/27/2008, -1/+1No, not really. Aren't christians supposed to tell the truth instead of enslaving people with lies?
- victorypup, on 05/22/2008, -3/+3One thing glaringly clear is that these people do not revere the teaching of Scripture. They may claim to be something or another but a Christian they are not. Those who support them are no more Christian than they are, America is in big trouble. McAmnesty is going on Ellen Degenerates show, what on earth is he trying to prove?
- spinningplates2, on 05/22/2008, -0/+0He is trying to win the most votes. In order to keep these people, you say you can't stand, out of power.
- nippinawassee, on 05/22/2008, -2/+3Michelle BHMO only opens her mouth to exchange feet.....
- Emmma, on 05/22/2008, -3/+2How? How? How? How on earth can Obama claim to be a "christian" when almost all of his & his wife's words and actions are completely contrary to the Word of God? Unbelieveable!!!!!!!!!
How stupid can the majoriy of the people be? Can they not see that he speaks out the side of his neck?????? Regardless of the religion part of this, these situations that arise are still contrary to common sense, ethics, natural human morality that all of us normally should have in our inner being of what is right or wrong, what is good or bad. animals are not even 1% as savage as some of these dummies!!!!- InRussetShadows, on 05/23/2008, -1/+1See, that's the thing. Most people vote Obama because they too claim be Christian but are not. Christian to them means whatever they want it to mean and they are infuriated with the "dumb" people who say that words mean things. Obama can call himself a Christian all day long, but look at his fruits. I don't see how his positions -- especially abortion -- glorify God in the slightest. Heck, at least Jesse Ventura is honest about not being a Christian. I wish Obama could be as honest. It's too bad that honesty apparently is not something that the "black Jesus" of Wright's church knows anything about.
- spinningplates2, on 05/22/2008, -1/+3Being from Illinois this is sad but not new news. The entire Democratic Party has blood on their hands. I still wonder about the people who go 3rd party and let the Democrats win power live with themselves. They say, "we need this country to suffer, and then people will wake up!" In the years that pass more children die and the democrats can say, "the people elected us, now they will listen to us."
God help us, turn our hearts like a river back to Your Will. - BBCsuck, on 05/22/2008, -4/+0She is a black bitch period.
- CDallas, on 05/27/2008, -1/+1The person Obama defeated in Illinois was Alan Keyes. He is a black conservative who is running for President as an independent. He deserves this rematch.
- m1961, on 08/02/2008, -0/+0THAT explains how Obama got elected in the first place -- Alan Keyes was over the electorate's heads.
- Yobotz, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1Alan Keyes:
"Calling something an issue of personal conscience does not necessarily imply that it is not a moral issue. The acknowledgment and worship of God, for example is a moral issue--perhaps the most critical moral issue of all. But in America we regard it as an issue of personal conscience, which the state has no right to dictate. There are, however, moral issues that are critical to our public life and national identity. These moral issues cannot be regarded as matters of personal conscience because they are matters of civic justice. The denial of human rights is a moral issue, but it is not only an issue of personal conscience. If I am denied the right to a fair trial by a lynch mob, each person who joins in the lynching may make the personal judgment that what he does is right. Nonetheless, the law, and the public authorities sworn to uphold it, are required to take action against such vigilantes and in support of the public morality which guarantees due process to every individual.
"This point is the key to understanding the disagreement between the so-called pro-choice position on abortion and that of the pro-life movement. Many pro-choicers assert that they are personally opposed to abortion and believe it is morally wrong. They also assert, however, that the people in their political capacity have no right to legislate against this evil because it involves a personal moral choice government has no right to limit or determine. The so-called pro-choice position is that abortion is an issue of personal conscience.
"Pro-lifers reject this view. We hold that abortion denies the nascent child's basic and unalienable right to life. It violates the fundamental principles of public morality on which the Constitution and the laws depend for their legitimacy, and on which the people rely as their assurance against tyranny. According to these principles no one, whatever his advantages, has the right to disregard the basic rights of others. Might does not make right. Every human being enjoys an inherent dignity which derives not from human will or human laws, or even human constitutions and bills of rights, but from the prior and superior will of our Creator."

www.alankeyes.com - m1961, on 08/02/2008, -0/+0Great quote, but the fact is that few modern-day voters possess the intellectual capacity or attention span to understand it.
Unfortunately, it is somewhat crude to say that "We prolifers believe that living children are better than dead ones, that the answer to the social problems of society and poverty are not the collective murder and neglect of the poor -- and then having the temeritry and the gall to call the murder of children a "right".
Our challenge in communicating the right to life is the ability to get the message across in a way that is easily and quickly understood. Like, "If you ask a five year old child if abortion is murder, he will tell you it os and that babies need to be saved. How is it that people who say they are "pro-choice" have lost the simple clarity and sense that any child possesses. - RandyCrawford, on 08/30/2008, -0/+0Abortion is murder. Any doubts? Let the "pro-choicers" (actually the no-choicers) try vivisection and dismemberment on themselves. Then, they'll get it. Are they too hypocritical to try their own warped "medicine?" Devious insincere liars usually are.
