- thejimmyo, on 04/23/2008, -5/+8It'd be nice to see these two candidates have a race where they don't sling mud at each other, but it's still worth pointing out that McCain's campaign has put out letters trying to tie Obama to Hamas and saying things like this: "We need change in America, but not the kind of change that wins kind words from Hamas."
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/18/mccain-ha ... - hostingpursual, on 04/23/2008, -2/+16It's going to be a very interesting race between McCain and Obama.
- senorcool, on 04/23/2008, -1/+6Im sure less intense than Obama v. Clinton.
- cashman57, on 04/23/2008, -14/+3Given the fact Obama has been slinging mud since October I doubt seriously he would pull an ad critical of McCain.
The fact is Obama knew what kind of bigoted anti-American jackass Wright was and hired him to be an advisor to his campaign anyway.
Obama continues to pretend he will change things but when he had the opportunity to do so as a Senator he didn't.
The kinds of things he has done in his political career include banning guns and calling for gun bans and voting for gun bans and voting to make you a criminal if you use your gun in self defense, even if you did not fire it and now he has people with guns surrounding him 24/7.
If he didn't think that guns make you more secure he would send his secret service detail back to DC. Since he has not he has shown all of us what kind of elitist hypocrite he is.
He wants to take our guns away with a promise of security of we give them up and still has a security detail armed with guns.
Apparently the man does not understand that in order for there to be security in a free state the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
When that right is infringed we get more crime and mass murders at the mall and NIU.
Criminals love Obama because he will disarm their victims and make their job easier.- gandhii, on 04/23/2008, -3/+7Perhaps you could illuminate us on where you found this information that Wright has been hired by Obama for political advice? I've only been able to find this statement of his denying any political relationship on his site http://www.barackobama.com/2008/03/14/on_my_faith_ ... and the most dirt I've been able to find is this or similar articles that imply the existence of more than just spiritual advice http://hotair.com/archives/2008/03/14/2007-profile ... A small discrepancy .. yes.. but it sounds like Wright was used more as a sounding board than anything else. At any rate, I haven't found where it says that Wright was being paid by Obama. Please clear that up.
As for the right to bear arms.. I am in total agreement. That argument should stand on its own. I'm not seeing how bringing Wright into it can do anything other than harm or distract from that argument.- ssn697, on 04/23/2008, -2/+10You are wasting your time. This is the same guy who said Ron Paul's 2 decades of newsletters written in his name didn't matter. He is just a troll...

I doubt that. When Obama first started attending, people mocked his church for being too "average" for a man like him. Also, when the Clintons were rocked by the Lewinsky scandal, they asked Reverend Wright to come to the White House and counsel them in their time of stress.

- whiteyak41, on 04/23/2008, -7/+4Wow, McCain actually acted like a decent human being. Weird
- jforjools, on 04/23/2008, -5/+3Well, it's tempting to think McCain is just a great guy. But his fundraising letters already tell us that he's not opposed to smearing...
I think it looks like he's taking a cue from Hillary. Remember, Hillary showed dignity and stayed silent on Wright until after it had died down and when the timing was to HER best political advantage (when she was dodging sniperfire in bosnia-gate).
Yep, McCain's just waiting to release the dogs at a later date. - ssn697, on 04/23/2008, -1/+15You can see McCain's strategy forming. Hillary is doing all the negative campaign ads for him.
Come general election time, he can just roll out the Clinton ads, saying "this is what Obama's own party thinks about him". - mr100percent, on 04/23/2008, -3/+1"I'm sending them an e-mail as we speak asking them to take it down. I don't know why they do it. Obviously, I don't control them. But I'm making it very clear that there's no place for that" in his campaign"
Well, did he? Is there confirmation? - suzywang3000, on 04/23/2008, -5/+1the neo-cons stick up for each other.
- Gabberwok, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1God damn it, Ron Paul lost. Go find something else to do. Obama is not a neo-con, and in all honesty, neither is McCain. Hell, even Bush isn't really a neo-con (or Condoleeza Rice for that matter), the term refers mainly to his advisors like Rumsfeld and Perle, and of course Dick Cheney. Bill Kristol too, that sniveling SOB.
- jforjools, on 04/23/2008, -4/+3just playing good cop, bad cop.
Fake dignity and ethics. - turnmeontony, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2"You know what i'm going to do? I'm going to publicly say "withdrawal!", but behind the scenes, I'll be pushing this thing harder than I had to push the ark!"
- zephyear, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2you guys remember 2004, where Bush condemned the Swift Boat ads but they didn't actually stop until when they originally planned them to stop?
that's this, he gets to "condemn" the ads, look like the good guy, the ads don't actually stop until when they originally planned them to, and he gets no negative press because of his "condemnation".
this is why i hate neocons.- zephyear, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1listen, i'd like to believe he's being a good guy too, but just watch they won't get taken down.
- bitfreak, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2I hate to say it, but we won't really know his true intent until after the scheduled broadcast. He can come out and condemn them, and then he gets to take the high road while the people running the add take the low road to his benefit; this is happening in NC 2 weeks before the primary between 2 democrats. Clearly, the GOP would prefer Hillary to Obama. (oh jeez...why would that be??)
I really would like to think McCain is on the up and up.....I'm just too cynical at this point. If he actually gets it stopped from running before Monday, I'll salute him with respect and he gets full credit. Otherwise, it's a /rude. - brandonchicago, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Mud slinging will begin to bore Americans if it's done from the very beginning. Plus, mud slinging doesn't work if you give people enough time to check the facts or give your opponent ample time to respond. Like Hillary, McCain is probably saving the smear campaign for Sept./Oct. However, if he's truly doing it out of good nature then I applaud him for his decency.
- MajorMansteak, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3Hidden intentions or not, it does show that McCain isn't just going to keep quiet while shady happenings go down. Props to him for now and I hope it stays that way. dugg.
- dinot, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Sincere or not, McCain is about a million times more likable than Clinton. *****, Huckabee was more likable than Clinton. It's funny how we've gotten to this point in the primaries where the Republicans are more gracious candidates to Obama than Hillary is.
