Culinary Workers' Union Endorse Barack Obama
firstread.msnbc.msn.com — The union, which boasts a membership of more than 60,000, is seen as a key endorsement in Nevada, a state where there are less than 500,000 registered Democrats in the whole state and certainly not all come out for caucuses.

Obama's activist church enters spotlight
But in an interview with PBS's "Religion & Ethics Newsweekly" recorded just before Obama's February announcement, Wright said he warned the senator that their association could pose political problems, partly because of his history of supporting Palestinian causes.
Wright also told The New York Times in an interview published March 6: "When his (Obama's) enemies find out that in 1984 I went to Tripoli" with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan to visit Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, "a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell."

For example, in 1997, Obama voted "present" on two bills (HB 382 and SB 230) that would have prohibited a procedure often referred to as partial birth abortion. He also voted "present" on SB 71, which lowered the first offense of carrying a concealed weapon from a felony to a misdemeanor and raised the penalty of subsequent offenses.
In 1999, Obama voted "present" on SB 759, a bill that required mandatory adult prosecution for firing a gun on or near school grounds. The bill passed the state Senate 52-1. Also in 1999, Obama voted "present" on HB 854 that protected the privacy of sex-abuse victims by allowing petitions to have the trial records sealed. He was the only member to not support the bill.
In 2001, Obama voted "present" on two parental notification abortion bills (HB 1900 and SB 562), and he voted "present" on a series of bills (SB 1093, 1094, 1095) that sought to protect a child if it survived a failed abortion. In his book, the Audacity of Hope, on page 132, Obama explained his problems with the "born alive" bills, specifically arguing that they would overturn Roe v. Wade. But he failed to mention that he only felt strongly enough to vote "present" on the bills instead of "no."
And finally in 2001, Obama voted "present" on SB 609, a bill prohibiting strip clubs and other adult establishments from being within 1,000 feet of schools, churches, and daycares.- soot, on 01/10/2008, -1/+1You're just a concern troll and nothing more.

You don’t present tough choices directly to the American people for fear that your answers might not be popular, you might make yourself a target for Republicans in the general election."

The internet has not brought about the revolution in politics that the media talks about. The net is still a fickle media filled with buzz words and buzz candidates. How many people even remember the buzz internet candidate in 2004? His name was Howard Dean, and his campaign collapsed in a span of 12 hours when he was stunned in New Hampshire by John Kerry and then he gave perhaps the most embarrassing concession speech ever. The point is he lost New Hampshire despite "winning MySpace". You only get two votes that count for anything, and they come in the primary and on election day. Being too enthusiastic towards a candidate CAN hurt his/her chances of winning. Think about how undecided voters will respond to the way you choose to support your candidate. Will it welcome them in (not likely if you are calling for a "revolution") or will it scare them away? You DO need to care what other people think about you and the way you act, that's a fundamental tenet of politics.
- PistolSO, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2Former Deanaic, voted in every national election since 2000. I'm voting Obama because he is similar in outlook to Dean, and I think he can be convinced to co-opt some libertarian ideas

- shiftclick, on 01/10/2008, -15/+6 So, if you're in a food workers union, you're a registered voter now? Hmm, last time I checked, most of the people working in restaurants in my city aren't even U.S. citizens. Go get them Barrack HUSSEIN Obama!!!
- raoulduke87, on 01/10/2008, -1/+4I'm pretty sure you have to be a citizen or at least a legal resident to be a member of a union, you ***** jackass.
- shiftclick, on 01/10/2008, -4/+2Thanks for that last part. I would have guessed you were a moron. But you proved it all on your own. Great job!
- raoulduke87, on 01/10/2008, -1/+2No, the first part (the information you need to stop sounding like an idiot) was for you. But that last part...that last part was for me. So, no need to thank me. I assure you, it was my pleasure.
- shiftclick, on 01/10/2008, -4/+2Thanks for that last part. I would have guessed you were a moron. But you proved it all on your own. Great job!

- wunderdog, on 01/10/2008, -1/+11Do you want fries with that?
- FURBjr, on 01/10/2008, -10/+5As a restaurant worker myself, I have to tell you, this doesn't matter in the least. In my unscientific poll, about 65 percent of all restaurant workers have strong libertarian leanings.
- Revovisionary, on 01/11/2008, -1/+1Are you a restaurant worker in Nevada? And as a libertarian you should have respect for a man who taught constitutional law.
- PeppermintPig, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1More respect for someone who actually follows it. Constitution isn't everything, but these people are swearing an oath...

- Digg413, on 01/10/2008, -1/+2Well now that he's got the cooks on his side, He CAN'T Lose!!

- Tarnum, on 01/11/2008, -0/+1The illegales can't vote.
- jmpeagle, on 01/10/2008, -3/+2why is it big new that a corporation is supporting Obama because that's what a union is. A corporation. This has as much effect as Exxon saying it will vote for Clinton, they can't force their workers to vote a certain way.
- Revovisionary, on 01/11/2008, -1/+2a Corporation is a business entity that is owned by multiple people. A union is a entity of employees banding together to insure there boss doesn't screw them... Not the same.
- Xanadude, on 01/10/2008, -9/+4Barack Obama is the ultimate style-over-substance politician, basically the Ronald Reagan of the Democrats. He hasn't proposed much in the way of policy (and his vague health care proposals are notoriously disingenuous), he just keeps talking about "change" and "hope." But he has taken an enormous amount of money from the usual suspects, i.e. corporate interests and the like. Obama doesn't represent change, he represents novelty - something that apparently sells better. If Americans really wanted change, they'd vote Edwards or Kucinich.
- catalysis, on 01/10/2008, -1/+3Didn't Reagan end the cold war? I'll take it.
- Xanadude, on 01/10/2008, -1/+1No, actually, he did not. Thanks for writing in.
- lazyfisherman, on 01/10/2008, -0/+0True. But Hillary just pain sucks and Edwards and Kucinich don't seem able to beat her or Obama. Maybe Edwards will turn it around but people just aren't willing to vote for Special K, who is by FAR the best candidate of all the Democrats.
- Revovisionary, on 01/11/2008, -0/+1Not true, here's your substance: http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/ObamaBlueprintForCh ...

also see _his website_ on taxation and you will see he intends to increase taxation. Look at all of the new programs he is saying he would begin or fund and addup the amounts , what was his answer when asked about debt reduction?
He answered that it would be a concern for a later time.
All you have to do is read his website. I did. That's where ALMOST ALL of that information. He just doesn't talk as much about attacking Iran and Pakistan while he says he has an 18 month withdrawal plan.
What military academy did he go to??
What qualifies him in any way to make that type of a plan?
What kind of economic experience does he have? Did he ever make speeches or chair a committee or even serve on an economic committee?
Did you happen to listen to Bernanke today?
Its the economy stupid and Obama is an economic mental midget! - aaroh, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2john kerry just endorsed Barack,,,,,wooohoooo

- NewYorkMantle, on 01/11/2008, -0/+1"we're not just Wonder Bread, here... We’ve got pumpernickel; we got whole wheat; and we got rye."
you don't say! - cyrax04, on 01/11/2008, -1/+2I'm a Paul supporter and I'm dreading Digg the next month and again around election time. Multiple Paul stories on the same thing, anything to do with Obama, anything negative about Clinton, etc. This really is exhausting.
I know this is technically news, however minuet, but can we all just stop the excessive 'spam' please? Pretty?
- A concerned and worn out Digger.- cashman57, on 01/11/2008, -0/+1Since you didn't reply to any post I am at a loss as to what it is you consider "spam.
Elaborate please.- cyrax04, on 01/11/2008, -0/+1Basically what I said in my post. Maybe not spam but just seer abundance of these articles. Looking on the positive though there are still good articles that get dugg up and digg itself is still a great place to learn and communicate.

- bioncinola, on 01/12/2008, -0/+1Obama is really just an inexperienced professor. He's going to be led around by the nose by the beocons. WE HAD BETTER PICK SOMONE WHO BEEN STANDING FIRM AGAINST THE NEOCONS FOR YEARS!! RON PAUL!!!
Digg is coming to a city (and computer) near you! Check out all the details on our
