- diggeradoo, on 04/08/2008, -9/+160"Someone told me a story. I chose to believe it. I didn't fully fact check it. There were easy ways to vet the story and people willing to tell the truth. I chose to tell the story my way anyway to push an issue important to me."
Bush and Iraq? ... or Hillary and Healthcare Horror Story? Does it matter?
Same lack of judgment, same embellishing, same reluctance to take responsbility.- jemka, on 04/08/2008, -3/+30Depends on what the definition of "uninsured pregnant woman who died after being denied medical care" is.
- lordno, on 04/08/2008, -2/+10Agreed. It is one thing to slander other politicians but to start untruthfully attacking individual hospitals is uncalled for. Just because she did not mention the hospital by name, she had to know that someone would research the story and find the hospital and the woman, How sad for her family to have to hear a distorted politician blatantly lie about their daughters death for her own political agenda.
- wphj, on 04/08/2008, -8/+7All right.
I'm a huge Obama supporter, I've had his bumper sticker on the back of my car for over a year now.
But please, this is an old story that came out last week.
I'd love to read something new, but why is this on the front page again?- TheSwashbuckler, on 04/08/2008, -14/+6Because Obama-ites like to spam Digg.
Even the echo chamber on Countdown said this wasn't a big deal...- bluezinc, on 04/08/2008, -0/+6Or maybe diggers enjoy stories about Clinton crashing and burning and Obama succeeding.
- cleverboy, on 04/08/2008, -1/+4I canvassed for Obama here in Mass. That said, Clinton should get a pass on this one. The story just has more details than is worth sticking into a stump speech and catching criticism over. Fair is fair.
"That part, it turns out, is true. But so is Clinton's claim that Bechtel did not get care at another hospital that wanted a $100 pre-payment before seeing her, according to the young woman's aunt, Lisa Casto. "It's a true story," said Casto, 53."
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/04/0 ... - link5280, on 04/08/2008, -1/+1Because the average Digger can relate to repeating lies?
- TheSwashbuckler, on 04/08/2008, -14/+6Because Obama-ites like to spam Digg.
- SlimFastForYou, on 04/08/2008, -4/+5OK, we get it she's a liar, and it's good to call out whoppers when we see them. But the story is believable, and it probably does happen every day. That being said, I will be glad the day Clinton drops out of the race.
- kinerry, on 04/08/2008, -0/+6It's 3am, and I'm believing whatever the ***** you tell me.
- fuzzynyanko, on 04/08/2008, -0/+1I guess she was expecting that the odds would favor any made-up emotional story would be real.
- mannyqui, on 04/09/2008, -0/+1It's 3 A.M. and the phone is ringing, it's the maid, saying that bill is getting a blow job in the oval office......... Hillary ain't buying it!
- Bobombom, on 04/08/2008, -5/+40Sorry if I am being too critical but...
Didn't the article seem to tone down what happened a bit? I think the one of the quotes from before used the words "We implore the Clinton Campaign for ...", but this article seems to tone that down.
Not trying to be nitpicky, but doesn't that seem a bit favorable to Clinton?- cdawzrd, on 04/08/2008, -3/+8It *is* on CNN...
- twrife, on 04/08/2008, -3/+8It's from CNN.....
- brianjlowry, on 04/08/2008, -1/+10It -is- from CNN... (I just wanted to get buried like these two other chumps)
- rpgmaker, on 04/08/2008, -0/+2Yes, the article provides the context (the context that was so vital to the people in digg during the Obama-Wright scandal) of the story and from who it came from. This is why you always have to RTFA on digg, sometimes the submitter's agenda gets in the way when writing the title and story description. I'm not a Hillary supporter but lets be objective please.
- mushtakrakish, on 04/08/2008, -1/+0what do you expect from a site that often has celebrity news in its top 12 headlines? NOT a news source. check out democracynow.org and commondreams.org if you want to get educated.
- Reaktor5, on 04/08/2008, -6/+54These stories are just tedious now. I expect to see one or two of these articles every day.
Can the DNC give the nomination to Obama already?- cjshamrock, on 04/08/2008, -4/+3Yeah its just become boring lately.
- Ajajadude, on 04/08/2008, -1/+2I feel like I'm losing my mind when the same exact story keeps making it to the frontpage. I keep wondering if I just saw it in the Upcoming section or if I already read several times on the Frontpage.
- mturn, on 04/08/2008, -0/+2Agreed; it would be more newsworthy if she told the truth.
- Awsomo6, on 04/08/2008, -0/+0Thankfully our presidential nominees aren't decided by who has the most supportive and least incriminating articles on digg...
Obama will get the nomination when the votes finish coming in, since its inevitable maybe we shouldn't post 4 articles a day on it!
- Greer70, on 04/08/2008, -57/+13Obama Supporters now = Ron Paul Supporters a couple months ago.
This place is becoming an echo chamber of Obama Dittoheads.- Lutremi, on 04/08/2008, -5/+13Not me, Clintard!
- MewTwo, on 04/08/2008, -23/+10Yeah I really hate that. And if you're not part of the mob you're dugg down.

- orangefly, on 04/08/2008, -5/+6bite us...
- thelostemperor, on 04/08/2008, -6/+20The difference is that Obama supporters post comments to stories that are related to the presidential campaign, unlike the Ron Paul idiots who spammed every possible forum regardless of topic. I mean, for Pete's sake, the story could be about a cute picture of a monkey and inevitably someone would post a Ron Paul blurb in the comments. I haven't seen that from Obama's fans.
- bonzodurer3, on 04/08/2008, -2/+4Not always. I've lost count of how many Obama political sponsors vs. Clinton sponsors have hit the front page. Yes, I know Obama has more supporters, and yes, I know this is kind of relevant to the campaign, but when you see "Mayor of Minnesota town supports Obama" you've gone too far.

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/04/0 ...
Check the link you Obama ***** FREAKS- KingPsyz, on 04/08/2008, -2/+8real classy there Joey... the fact remains she did Lie. The woman died from complications of birth which every woman faces. Rich, poor, insured, or uninsured.
Clinton claimed she died because she didn't have insurance and couldn't pay the $100 fee upfront.
Fact remains it was a lie, even with her deciding to not pay her bill to another hospital until she was forced to, if she would have walked in with complications from her pregnancy they're required by law to treat her with nothing out of pocket and worry about billing after the fact,
The person was not denied care, she just didn't go fearing denial of care.
Regardless, as having recently watched my son being born a week early due to preclampsia I can tell you it happens fast and scary but there's also lots of warning signs and had she been more cautious they could have seen her earlier and possibly saved both her and her baby.
Pregnancy is nothing to take for granted, and if you know someone who isn't feeling right and they're close to their due date you rush them to the hospital immediately or call an ambulance or you'll end up like the subject of Clinton's spin. - Kazbaeden, on 04/08/2008, -2/+6Um, did you read that link, or just the headline.
From your source: " the patient, Trina Bechtel, was admitted there and did have insurance. That part, it turns out"
Clinton's story is that the woman died because she went to a hospital with insurance and died. That is not the case. According to your source the woman apparantly racked up some debt at a hospital and they didn't want to treat her until she paid them back. It's also worth noting they told her this well before she ever became sick, and when she did get sick she didn't go to that hospital, she did have insurance, and she did get treated at two separate hospitals.
So please, I know you're tired of hearing about how bad your candidate is losing, and I suppose the author of this piece is as well, to spin a title like that, but before you go calling people "***** Freaks" make sure you're not going to make an ass of youself first.

- amoirae, on 04/08/2008, -5/+3Your sexist rant shows the non-existant value of your judgment.

- birdly, on 04/08/2008, -9/+3I'm not a Hillary supporter, but by this reasoning the bible is full of lies too. We refer to them as parables.
Bury me deep.
GoBama!- Railz, on 04/08/2008, -2/+2Um. She gave an exact hospital. Even the bible isn't that specific.
- inyearstocome, on 04/08/2008, -2/+12Aside from Hillary lying...should someone who could not afford a $100 hospital payment be bringing a child into the world? Do they know how much money is required to raise a child?
- koan, on 04/08/2008, -1/+0"Bringing a child into the world" - you mean giving birth?
Women have plenty of choices both before and after bringing a child into the world. If your suggestion is that women are means tested before being having the right to become pregnant, then I would recommend moving to a country where democracy is either absent or failing, and the rights of people are either systematically being removed or are simply not present.
Consider moving to China or the United States of America.- steelclash84, on 04/08/2008, -0/+2I think he was merely pointing out a sanity check. He didn't say they shouldn't be allowed to, he said that they shouldn't based on the reason that the child will not get the proper care (other than by sucking on the tit of our tax dollars...)

- KingPsyz, on 04/08/2008, -4/+4I wish she would come to my house, I'll tell her about the time Gore tried to kill Manbearpig by destroying Imaginationland and how Deltron3030 makes albums in the future and sends them back in time because of bad healthcare.
- fletcherrr, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3Why don't you list more things that you like? Really, it's interesting.

- uncleboogie, on 04/08/2008, -2/+25No, she got it mixed up. The mother was shot by sniper fire and lost the baby. Hilary was turned away from the hospital for no insurance and lost Sinbad's baby.
- MrTito, on 04/08/2008, -0/+2...off to edit wikipedia.
- nycmac247, on 04/08/2008, -6/+3someone give her a blowjob, please!

- barthook, on 04/08/2008, -3/+5Has there been any pro Hillary or McCain story make the front page? All I see for the most part is Obama is great or Hillary is evil with a small mix of McCain is the anti-christ. Can algorithms be biased?
- sb66, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3Maybe the digg servers have become sentient? I'd say the above conclusions are definitely a sign of emerging intelligence.

- omegaredIX, on 04/08/2008, -6/+1What if I told you the Clintons have had a history of dealing cocaine in Arkansas? That they have an entire little secret history that most do not know about.
US Government cocaine shipments, money-laundering and gun-running, all in and around the Mena airport in western Arkansas. All of this with the help of the CIA and the Clinton family, both Hilary and Bill. They have numerous skeletons in their closet.

http://digg.com/politics/The_Clinton_Chronicles_6- Hetman, on 04/08/2008, -4/+2If that was true. At least we would know that we are having a competent person coming into office. The latter cannot be said about the other two.
- heymsmurder, on 04/08/2008, -1/+1More people need to know about the Clinton's past. I'm very neutral on the election, but some of their history is pretty wrong
- omegaredIX, on 04/08/2008, -0/+1Grrr I wish the people that dugg down would say. Hey asshole this is why I dugg you down and here are my numerous sources proving everything you stated wrong. Kthxbi
- Hetman, on 04/08/2008, -8/+4The problem is they are a making up stories to push their socialist agendas. Both Hillary and Obama.
- tommy68, on 04/08/2008, -10/+51 year ago all the liberals talked about was how great the clintons were. Now all they do is talk about how bad they are. Funny. I bet 90% of obama supporters know nothing about what his plans are except theres gonna be"change" left wing liberals are like sheep nothing but followers.
- paulierocks, on 04/08/2008, -1/+8Not all Conservatives are stupid, but most stupid people are conservative.
- sorrytheusernam, on 04/08/2008, -0/+2I'm fiscally conservative and I approve this message.
- genesis793, on 04/08/2008, -0/+1i do think allot of people are voting for Obama on impulse, but you cant generalize. Im in high scool, and most people who I know who are voting for Obama are also in high school and do know why they are votting for Obama and what he stands for. stop making false assumptions.
- tommy68, on 04/08/2008, -2/+0advice from a high school kid thats funny. ask your parents(you know the ones who pay the bills) how they feel about him doubling taxes to pay for all the social programs he wants. very few high school kids will be 18 in november.
- Delphium226, on 04/09/2008, -0/+1Advice from a racist idiot? The only thing you and your kind are good for is to be canned for dogfood.

- twoweektrial, on 04/08/2008, -5/+12This is just silly you guys, it's a story someone told her, you can't fault her for that. I don't like or support her, but I'm not going to support this kind of stupidity either. "Clinton lies again!" give me a break. The Bosnia sniper thing was a lie, this is not, this is just someone going "Ooo! She was wrong about something! LIES!!!". By posting that title you're vindicating the people who say all Obama supporters are insane cult members, don't sink that low guys.
- BradHAWK, on 04/08/2008, -1/+3"we tried but weren't able to fully vet the story," [Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee] said.
So, if you can't vet the story, go ahead and tell it? That might work for daily life but it's a very bad strategy for a presidential candiate.
It may not technically have been a lie, but it's close. At the least it was careless, maybe reckless, and certainly continuation of a troubling pattern.- twoweektrial, on 04/08/2008, -1/+1I agree with you completely, I was commenting more on the overzealous title of the article "Clinton lies again". Objectivity is necessary if one really wants to get somewhere.
- BradHAWK, on 04/08/2008, -0/+1Actually I'm not so sure that *I* agree with me now. The "we tried but weren't able to fully vet the story" quote may have been a response to finding out (incorrectly) from the media that the story was "false", rather than an admission that they had done a poor job in trying to vet the story.
"Objectivity is necessary if one really wants to get somewhere."
We wish.

- bingobongony, on 04/08/2008, -4/+2Don't sink that low? You think that this is a LOW for Obama SPAMMERs? This is par for the course.
- HellDonut, on 04/08/2008, -1/+1So at best, she has chosen to believe a second hand story told by someone else and never fact-checked it. This may not be a "blatant lie", but it's certainly repetition from untrusted sources.
This is a ***** presidential campaign. She's telling these stories to millions of people. The fact that she hasn't fact-checked (again, at BEST) shows what kind of character you could expect from her presidency. - WallyAnti, on 04/08/2008, -0/+1I know a bunch of guys that say Clinton is a raging fecalphiliac. Hey, it's just what I was told. You can't fault me for repeating a story I was told. Geez. It's called ethics. If the politicians are going to make a career out of lying I expect them to actually be good at it.
- snotrokit, on 04/08/2008, -0/+1The fact that she re-tells a false story in and of itself is not bad. The fact that she repeatedly did it from the podium, while running for the President of The United States, after being caught several times lying from that very podium makes it bad.
The fact that Bill made it with an intern was not THAT bad. Really it wasn't. The fact that he LIED about it under oath, during a Federal Grand Jury, made it an impeachable offense.
- BradHAWK, on 04/08/2008, -1/+3"we tried but weren't able to fully vet the story," [Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee] said.
- jackelopeus, on 04/08/2008, -0/+0Isn't this like two days old by now? Bury it already.
