Clinton Surrogate, Ed Rendell, Praises Farrakhan
huffingtonpost.com — Pennsylvania's governor, who said many whites wouldn't vote for a black man, passively condoning such prejudice rather than condemning it.

- rgodfrey, on 04/22/2008, -2/+11Can we all get over this guilt by association *****? I'm voting for Obama in Pennsylvania tomorrow in part to get over this negative politics-as-usual, and because he's the better candidate. Not because Hillary Clinton and her supporters have more gotcha quotes in their YouTube closets.
- pintomp3, on 04/22/2008, -0/+5i don't think anyone actually think ill of hillary because rendell said good things about farrakhan, it's her hypocrisy:
"It is clear that, as leaders, we have a choice who we associate with and who we apparently give some kind of seal of approval to," said Clinton.
much like when a homophobic republican gets caught getting gay sex, it's the irony and they hypocrisy that upset people the most.- rgodfrey, on 04/22/2008, -1/+1Fine, but I'd like to think we can be better than all that. Pointing out hypocrisy is great, but there's also something to be said for taking the high road once in a while.
- pintomp3, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2kerry tried that when he got swiftboated. we see how well that worked out. i'de like to think we can move beyond such tactics, but the cynic in me doubts most americans will be able to see through it.

- Pherdnut, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2What is it about the words "pant suit" that are just so god-damned funny.
- sqwirl, on 04/22/2008, -1/+1It's because generally, a suit already has pants by default. Also, a suit made entirely out of pants would just be silly. Knowing both of these things makes the inclusion of the word 'pant' in 'pant suit' not only redundant, but endlessly hilarious.
Hope that helps!

- only1tigger, on 04/22/2008, -6/+7Poor Hillary.
She'll never get onboard with all this baggage! - ileftfark, on 04/22/2008, -4/+29This is exactly the kind of distraction Obama spoke about in the PA Debate. This drivel has no reflection on Clinton herself, and only serves as a talking piece to side-swipe a candidate. Both candidates have support from all over the political map. Why are we listening the them, instead of the the candidates themselves?
- pintomp3, on 04/22/2008, -6/+5if hillary loves being in the kitchen so much, why shouldn't she enjoy some of her own heat?
- skippyatuw, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3Exactly. It's so easy to give into this back and forth nonsense, but in the end, America is left no better off. People seem to forget what political candidates really are - job applicants.

I'm an Obama supporter from PA. And I only hope that Barack considers Governor Rendell for VP because the man is just an all around awesome guy. He's done great things for PA and accepts everyone for who they are as a person.
- Phillycat81, on 04/22/2008, -4/+1And most importantly he's an eagle fan!!!

- DEIx15x8, on 04/22/2008, -11/+11Wow, more Huff spam. Now that we have less than 12 hours till voting are we going to see a sudden surge of Huff crap?
- Cattywampus, on 04/22/2008, -3/+4Surge is the perfect word! Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be seeing a reduction of HuffPo crap anytime sooner than we'll be seeing a drawdown of U.S. troops in the Iraq surge.
- Bkaufman, on 04/22/2008, -18/+13Huffington Post, Daily KOS, Raw Story, and Crooks and Liars need to be banned from Digg. I'm sick of their sensationalist articles that are designed to get liberal diggers to digg them up.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=e31md_qPqRo- JointVenture, on 04/22/2008, -2/+1Ohhhhhhhh my nubian princess, with the NAPPY wig.
Didnt a radio guy get fired for saying that?
- JointVenture, on 04/22/2008, -2/+1Ohhhhhhhh my nubian princess, with the NAPPY wig.
- bingobongony, on 04/22/2008, -12/+6Well..that settles it! There is NO WAY that I am voting for Hillary if the Pennsylvania governor says this...CLEARLY this reflects badly on her!
Seriously, pathetic Obama supporters give it the fck up. He is not going to win PA. He knows this. You are getting even more pathetic than RonPaulians. And if you haven't noticed, as much as you want to bury any comment regarding it, the anti-Obama stance on Digg is starting to make it harder and harder to get your stories to the front page nad kept there. Before long, any obama story will get stuck in the upcoming section with 500 Diggs. Enjoythat time. - Cattywampus, on 04/22/2008, -5/+7How come all these stories from 10 or 20 years ago are now showing up on Digg (and the Huff Post, which seems to be about the only source Diggers use for political news)?
Equating the Rendell/Farrakhan and Obama/Wright scenarios isn't exactly accurate. Rendell, who is NOT running for president, praised Farrakhan's work once. Obama is a friend and confidante of Wright, and sat in his church for 20 years.
Farrakhan is a racist, but the Nation of Islam *has* done a lot of good work around the country.- InspectorGadget, on 04/22/2008, -2/+2No they haven't. The NOI is a bunch of bigoted morons and the only good thing they've ever done is shoot Malcolm X - ironically, as he was disavowing his former bigotry. The NOI is directly responsible for at least a small amount of urban poverty because they instill a baseless suspicion of anyone who isn't one of them in the people that absorb their "teachings".
- elipabst, on 04/22/2008, -1/+2The point was that she said was damning Wright for his praise of Farrakhan rather than his rhetoric in church. So when it turns out that people happen to have tape of her favorite little cheerleader Rendell praising Farrakhan then that makes her a bit of a hypocrite, doesn't it?
- jtidmore, on 04/22/2008, -4/+5Oh come on. Obama folks (me being one of them) get annoyed when Clinton points out old, and out of context, quotes from past supporters. Now Obama backers doing the same? ENOUGH, THIS IS NOT A REAL CRITICAL ISSUE PERTINENT TO THIS ELECTION.
This is an old speech from a long time ago. Keep in mind, Rendell was mayor of Philadelphia, which is majority black, so Rendell praising a well known activist for the Black community is a good thing, if you're mayor of Philadelphia. Grow up and understand how politics works.
Let's talk about real issues, like the price of food, war in Iraq, energy policy, global climate concerns, overpopulation, AIDS, poverty. Anything else is a distraction. - p0s3r, on 04/22/2008, -9/+4Didn't you get the memo? The Obamessiah put 'manufactured political distractions' on notice.
Looks to me the New Politics of Hope are just like the old politics.- gsxrjason, on 04/22/2008, -0/+3So you never did tell me why you support McCain. Why?
- speakeasy602, on 04/22/2008, -2/+5"It is clear that, as leaders, we have a choice who we associate with and who we apparently give some kind of seal of approval to," said Clinton. Funny how she say's that. What she should have said was, "It is clear that, as leaders, we have a choice who we associate with and who we give money to." She is such a hypocrite, it makes me sick to my stomach.
- RRJackson, on 04/22/2008, -6/+3So the mayor of a city with a huge black population said something nice about Farrakhan, so that means Clinton is a closet racist? Did Clinton and Rendell spend 20 years sitting in Farrakhan's pews?
- InspectorGadget, on 04/22/2008, -3/+4This is where white guilt gets you. You end up so busy being hypercritical of the slightest perceived vestige of "oppression" or somesuch other ***** that you don't even catch yourself lavishing praise on an organization of rabid anti-Semites or claiming that a large number of white Democrats are so racist they won't vote for Obama, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. This guy needs to start the clock on his 15 minutes for the good of the country.
- dBass, on 04/22/2008, -4/+5The Clinton apologists are rabid tonight! Guess the truth REALLY hurts. You would think Hillary, Inc. wasn't a democrat the way she has been trying to decapitate Sen. Obama in this campaign.
- bokep, on 04/22/2008, -4/+2You guys criticize ABC for running a ***** debate but you involve yourselves in rubbish like this? This is the kind of BS that takes away the attention from the real issues. Who the ***** cares what Clinton's friend said about Farrakhan? The issue in no way takes detracts from Clinton's ability to run the country.
I'm tired of all this bickering about Bosnia, flagpins, Rev. Wright, etc. Let's move on to the real issues shall we? After 8 years of incompetency in the office do you really want these irrelevant issues to decide who the next president is?- marabout40, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Someone has to level the playing field.
- bokep, on 04/22/2008, -4/+0Looks like you Americans like to decide your president based on irrelevant issues like what their friends or pastors think. No wonder you voted an idiot to office for 8 years.
- glibpaxman, on 04/22/2008, -1/+6the only reason this should be MSM news is because Clinton continues to bring up Obama's relationship to Wright. I really wish we could move beyond it to talk about the world food crisis or maybe the $500,000,000,000 war but if we cant we should at least be honest about it.
- JointVenture, on 04/22/2008, -3/+1Hey thanks for proving what we've always known about the Democratic party.
- JointVenture, on 04/22/2008, -6/+1What I love is how HUFFPOST articles have a big box in the upper left of each article that says..
Show your support.
Digg this article.
Its larger, and more direct than ANY news site, other sites might say share and have a little box with multiple sites. The huffpost just has a box that says the above.
You guys are makeing miss Hattington rich, you ***** fools, shes laughing all the way to zeee bank.
- msjentay, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2If Hillary and her camp had any more vetting who knows what we'd find?! And I agree that we need to move this campaign on to more important issues but I have only 3 words for you: Hillary started it... I think we'll be able to move on to a more positive campaign once she steps down.
- Gemfinder, on 04/22/2008, -1/+2Talking with a forked tongue, he be.
- xonahuia, on 04/22/2008, -1/+1Farrakhan and Wright are good men in my book even though I don't believe in organized religion
- akeldama, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1Farrakhan is a good man? Would a good man in your book teach this: "Elijah Muhammad’s main text for the dissemination of his teachings, Message to the Blackman in America, tells the story of the “grafting” of the evil white race. The woeful story begins 6800 years ago, when Yacub, and evil scientist from Mecca, angered the Meccan authorities and was exiled, along with 59,999 of his followers, to an island in the Aegean Sea. While in exile, he plotted his revenge. He would enslave the Tribe of Shabazz by breeding an evil white race that would rule over them for 6,000 years. He created the Brown Race from the Black using the old biblical method of infanticide. …“He ordered the nurses to kill all black babies…by pricking the brains with a sharp needle as soon as the black child’s head is out of its mother. …When there was a birth of a brown baby, the nurse would come and make much ado over it, and would tell the mother that that she had given birth to a holy child and that she would nurse it for the next six weeks, for her child was going to be a great man…” Using the same method, 200 years later, he created the Red Race from the Brown, and 200 years after that the Yellow Race from the Red. Finally, after 600 years, his work was completed; he had created the White Devils."
- mweflen, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1"Surrogate?" Come on. Look in a thesaurus if you are that bad a headline writer, please. Webster.com has one. I can think of several better words without checking one. Supporter. Ally. Colleague. Endorser.
Surrogate makes it sound like he is replacing her, or carrying her baby for her. - Codee, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2Hillary, I've said it before...If you live in a glass house.....
- cheezeme, on 04/22/2008, -0/+0Of course he did. All democrats are nuts. Obama, Clinton it does not really matter -- their almost like from europe or something.
