Clinton Adviser Claims Indiana Slur Video Is Conspiracy
huffingtonpost.com — We don't believe him! "A former aide to President Bill Clinton, and current informal adviser to Sen. Hillary Clinton, expressed outrage and shock on Friday after a videotape from 1992 surfaced apparently showing him describing Indianans as "white n---rs."

- canewediggit, on 05/02/2008, -1/+37sorry for comment jack, but this is important.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_wKOgMNs0U - full scene for the original movie. honestly, it's changed my stance on the whole thing. they were up in indiana 42-40, the scene is about them discussing how they are about to win when earlier on they were thinking bush was going to pull it out.- ssn697, on 05/02/2008, -1/+20Totally different when seen in context. Good find.
- qwerter, on 05/02/2008, -1/+9Agreed. I'm pro-Obama, and I don't want our side to be guilty of taking things out of context just to further our agenda. That's what the other side does. Aren't we better than that?
- joaob, on 05/02/2008, -7/+5Great find...but at the same time how can this be explained?
"Kantor today denied to the Huffington Post that he had called Hoosiers "s---." "I was talking about the polling and not the people," Kantor said."
But yet Politico Reports that the Director D.A. Pennebaker said...
"What he says is he’s surprised Perot’s numbers are holding," said Pennebaker in a brief phone interview. "He says they must be shi**ing in the White House."
-----
Something isn't passing the smell test here- swrostmore, on 05/02/2008, -2/+10Kantor says he never called Hoosiers *****, Pennebaker confirms it. Kantor claims he was talking about the poll numbers, Pennebaker confirms he was talking about the poll numbers. What exactly isn't passing the smell test here?
- consoneo, on 05/02/2008, -4/+4Who cares if he calls them *****? That doesn't matter to me compared to calling them a white *****....
- swrostmore, on 05/02/2008, -2/+3Nobody says "white *****," they say "whigger." Kantor said "how would you like to be in the White House right now" in the sense of "how would you like to be able to see the looks on their faces" when they find out they are only winning solidly red states like Indiana by 2 points. Remember, this is in the context of a winning campaign against an incumbent president (i.e. the campaign office in the White House).
- InetRoadkill, on 05/02/2008, -0/+4I captured the original audio and cranked up the volume and did some filtering. He is clearly calling Hoosiers "*****". The second part about "white *****" is too distorted to tell. It sorta sounds like "white *****", but if you didn't know what you were listening for ahead of time, you'd never pick it out. I can only give that part a rather weak maybe.
- keishax, on 05/02/2008, -2/+1Kantor did say Indiana / Hoosiers are *****.Then turns to the camera and says sorry. Then he comment "white *****" he laughs, and George keeps his head down and avoids eye contact with Kantor after his statement. So yeah he did say it, and they are just trying to CYA.
- qwerter, on 05/02/2008, -2/+7As much as I'd love to see Hillary go down, This is far from the smoking gun. I just listened to it again about a dozen times, without subtitles, and I really can't hear him making any sort of slur. To my ears, he's talking about how well they're doing, about how the people in the White House are ***** their pants (he got about halfway through that sentence before he realized he shouldn't be swearing in front of the camera), and said something like, "How'd you like to be in the White House right now?"
This was 1992... the race between Clinton, Perot, and Bush I. If they're doing well in the polls, of course they'd be talking about what the folks in the White House must be thinking. Personally, I'd love to have been a fly on the wall there.
- swrostmore, on 05/02/2008, -2/+10Kantor says he never called Hoosiers *****, Pennebaker confirms it. Kantor claims he was talking about the poll numbers, Pennebaker confirms he was talking about the poll numbers. What exactly isn't passing the smell test here?
- ssn697, on 05/02/2008, -1/+20Totally different when seen in context. Good find.
- AlextheK, on 05/02/2008, -10/+32Oh, come on now. The reason the media believe it is fake is that it's patently a fraud. The director of the piece it's taken from, one of the most famous documentary filmmakers alive, says it's a fraud. I know that Obama supporters want to believe that everything that stands in their way is Satanic, but, please--get real.
- whiterice0, on 05/02/2008, -4/+5Yessss. The media is evil. You're good and smart. Believe, beeeelieve.
- dafragsta, on 05/02/2008, -0/+6Uuuh.. how can you rationalize that statement when so many people here, including myself, didn't start off with Obama. I'd much rather see Ron Paul in office to remind the government that they are under contract to the people, but Obama is the next best thing. I'm sure lots of Edwards, Kucinich, Gravel, etc. supporters got behind Obama as the options dwindled.
- elamr, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3I agree, daf. If Ron Paul runs independent he's got my vote, but since he's staying with the ***** GOP (and probably won't get the nomination even if McCain passed away), I have to either go for Nader or Obama. I don't like how the Clintons play...
If McCain gets off of Bushes nuts, I might vote for him. - andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2HA! Anyone who supported Ron Paul but now supports Obama has absolutely zero - read: NO UNDERSTANDING of politics. They are almost polar opposites, except that they both use the lofty language of progressive politics to campaign. How on Earth do you justify that radical of a switch? It's like you've got a sticker on your head that says "I just follow the crowd."
- chaosium, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2While I agree, as long as they don't use the same tactics when it comes to promoting him I do welcome them.
There were/are a number of well-meaning Paul supporters, just as I feel embarrassed by my support of Badnarik in the last election. - andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1I welcome their vote, but I don't necessarily welcome their voice, because it makes the rest of us who actually know what we believe look like idiots.
- tjmb9, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Some people just want change, whatever it looks like.
- chaosium, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2While I agree, as long as they don't use the same tactics when it comes to promoting him I do welcome them.

- whiterice0, on 05/02/2008, -17/+10What's particularly obnoxious is how the Obama herd devoured this as fact. It just shows how blind they are to any facts in this election. I'm embarassed for them, particularly when you consider that the director of the documentary even says that the man never said n**gger, and yet the Obama herd continues to argue. WAKE UP, HERD!
- AlextheK, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3My favorite aspect of the herd instinct is reading all the comments on the original piece that talk about how "old" people like Kantor don't understand that they "can't get away with comments like that anymore" because of the (singing angels here) wonderfulness of YouTube and how reliable it is.
Having been on the 'net now for 26 years, I never fail to find the "if it's online it must be true" crowd hilarious in its self-righteousness.- KibibyteBrain, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Sadly the net is no worse than the MSM anymore? Anyone else remember Rudy as a frontrunner? Or Hilary as a clear nominee? Or weapons of mass destruction stockpiles in Iraq being a fact only looneys would question?

- trackerbishop, on 05/02/2008, -3/+8dyalright - he says ***** or *****, its hard to tell but i think its the former not the latter when you put it in context.
if you watch his lips and turn up the volume you can see him make the ING/Y sound
i hate the neocons and i hate the clintons but youre going to ruin all the blog credibility- keishax, on 05/02/2008, -2/+1Kantor did say Hoosiers are "***** or *****".Then turns to the camera and says sorry. If it was all about being in the white house, the George's reaction doesn't make sense.
- triad203, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1He says he was talking about the pollsters who gave them those results. Seems like that makes sense.

- OwdenBowden, on 05/02/2008, -16/+5WOW - the Obamacans are ***** themselves because their Dreamer is now being outed by everyone around. Looks like to me they are looking for anything to tie to Clinton in order to save them from losing these up coming elections. Be you you will see another speech by Obama surrounded with all those symbol's of Oppression.. um I mean American Flags letting the world know that he Doesn't even know who Rev. Wright is - Never Heard of him; and that it is sad to see Clinton playing the race card .
Obama keeps getting caught with his pants down and he doesn't like it. and I am sure we will hear from his wife Michelle about How Disappointed and so Not Proud of America....- trackerbishop, on 05/02/2008, -4/+6shouldnt you be listening to hannity right now, you neocon windbag? you havent an original thought.
ron paull 2008- andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Wait, what? I'm pretty sure the Paul ship has sailed my friend. And then it promptly sunk because the crew died because Ron Paul wouldn't feed them because he "isn't granted the power by the Consitution" to do anything that common sense and the public will compel him to.
- dafragsta, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2Being outed? How has he been outed? The only one who has been outed is his pastor.
- trackerbishop, on 05/02/2008, -4/+6shouldnt you be listening to hannity right now, you neocon windbag? you havent an original thought.
- jabberwolf, on 05/02/2008, -1/+5WHITE *****?
I dont know what to think of something like that,
1- It sounds so racial
2- But sounds so stupid!
First makes no sense, as that's what someone would call white trash, but that does not apply to Native Americans.
Not to mention - they always called them WIGGERS!
Let's see the whole tape please, then after so, we can decide.
Plus a former aid to BILL CLINTON, OVER 15 years ago? That's the best they can do against Hillary?! HAHAHA- andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2Look, THEY doesn't necessarily mean the Obama campaign - in fact, I am resolutely sure that it wasn't them. Whoever did this was a moron. And btw, the word is "racist." Racial means anything at all having to do with race.
- SwedishNinja, on 05/02/2008, -4/+2White ***** - The Best Kind of *****
? - keishax, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2Kantor is currently an advisor to the Hillary Clinton Campaign.
- franklymister, on 05/02/2008, -1/+6Ok, true. I've watched the video in context and without subtitles (thanks to canwediggit), and it's clear that they're talking about how Bill Clinton was up 42-40 in Indiana. The first thing he starts to say is "these people are ***** themselves" but he cuts off when he realizes he's swearing in front of the camera. There's no way the "white n---" slur makes sense next, it makes so much more sense that he said "how would you like to be in the White House right now" - as in, the Bush white house must have been ***** themselves.
- Futile, on 05/02/2008, -4/+1The more they try to deny it the more people will play this video. Did he say it or didn't he? Go on, argue some more and it'll be front page on NYT next week.
- jabberwolf, on 05/02/2008, -5/+5"these people are ***** themselves" but he cuts off when he realizes he's swearing in front of the camera - EXACTLY!
Yeah I saw this as well! WTF? He can't even say ***** outloud ! AHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!
But you Obamatards caught him, he whispered the doo-doo word!! OMFG !!- fluxion, on 05/02/2008, -1/+1uhh, the supposed "those people are *****" in the context of calling them "white *****" was what's been getting all the attention...
i believe at this point it was all either a misunderstanding or blatant and purposeful smear tactic of the likes of which any obama supporter should despise by now.
but let's not go making up some ***** reason to call obama supporters retards, you know very well this was not about someone using the word "*****" in general
- fluxion, on 05/02/2008, -1/+1uhh, the supposed "those people are *****" in the context of calling them "white *****" was what's been getting all the attention...
- JointVenture, on 05/02/2008, -0/+6http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/5/2/125635/ ...
Even the dailykos now says it is a FAKE. - poxonyou, on 05/03/2008, -2/+1Seems like this was intentionally done to stir up Obama supporters, so the Clinton campaign can now say they tried to falsely smear them. "Hey everybody!!! Look at this video clip! I subtitled it!" People just assumed it was accurate because he was mumbling and the subtitles seemed to match. There's a tiny chance he did say that, but odds are, given the fact they were up and clearly being videotaped, that he mumbled something that wasn't racist.
- eliot2000, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1You're probably right. Just to be safe, the media should play this clip subtitled with both versions every five minutes for about 14 days. And they should use negative color.
- canewediggit, on 05/02/2008, -1/+37sorry for comment jack, but this is important.
- AtHomeBoy2000, on 05/02/2008, -19/+95"I never said it" sounds like what Bill said a week or so about about his comments on Obama playing the race card.
I see a trend in this campaign.- p0s3r, on 05/02/2008, -26/+11Frankly, editing and pushing this video is the most disgusting and despicable playing of the race card we've seen yet from the Obama Campaign. Absolutely disgusting.
- AtHomeBoy2000, on 05/02/2008, -4/+18who said it was from them?
- p0s3r, on 05/02/2008, -9/+4It's very obvious. Obama's campaign if flaming out because he and his pastor are racists. So they plant this fake video to try and paint Hillary and Kantor has racists like he is.
- andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -2/+2Motive doesn't prove ANYTHING. Of course the whole thing is *****, he didn't say that, but the Obama campaign wouldn't do this because first of all, it's the guiding principle of his whole campaign not to do this, but secondly - and more convincingly, for you skeptics - it's a ***** attack. If an organized group of communications experts wanted to attack the Clinton campaign, I think that an easily correctable misidentification of a sentence used by some random-ass aide who's no longer relevant would be the last thing they'd try.
- p0s3r, on 05/02/2008, -2/+3If it's the guiding principle of the Obama campaign to stay above board, why did he just announce that he was going to start running a positive campaign? If he has to start running a positive campaign, that means he hasn't been running a positive campaign.
- andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -2/+2Wait Im sorry, I missed that, did you say they're RACISTS? Against who, WHITE PEOPLE? Hahahahahahaha
- p0s3r, on 05/03/2008, -2/+3So you think only white people can be racist?
- sleepwalkers, on 05/03/2008, -1/+2Aside from whoever the hell you or I support, if you really believe that the Obama campaign is "flaming out" and that he is honestly a racist, you're delusional.
- p0s3r, on 05/02/2008, -9/+4It's very obvious. Obama's campaign if flaming out because he and his pastor are racists. So they plant this fake video to try and paint Hillary and Kantor has racists like he is.

Here lets run a small test. Watch the following videos and tell me what you see and we will see if I am right.
If Baracka Obama disagreed with what Rev. Jeremiah Wright was saying then why did Baracka Obama "a typical black person" give $27,500 to the church ($22,500 in 2006 and $5,000 in 2005) to Africanzied Trinty United Church run by a man of the past, the black supremacist, conspiracy theorist and racist who infects the younger generation with racial prejudice and animus and then say he came unto us to transcend racism? Sounds like Baracka Obama got caught in another big lie. Maybe you haven't heard everything that Wright said:

- RepubOperative, on 05/02/2008, -13/+5Hehehe...I didn't get that, and no I don't but you liberals do. All queers are liberals that I know of...I don't know any queers voting Republican for McCain. So we can from that infer that all pole smokers are liberals and are voting for Obama or Clinton.
- atlantocide, on 05/02/2008, -3/+5I wasn't talking about politics. Just observing that you talk about fellating an african-american penis way more than any normal person should.
- elamr, on 05/02/2008, -3/+2There are gay Republican Leaders. There are black ones too. You must have some misconceptions about the GOP. Check your party, dude, its not racist. Check out McCain's voting record he's pretty Liberal on a lot of things. Do you think the GOP is Winning? They aren't even conservative anymore (Rush and Hannity even say that). You have already lost. You have McCain (a Liberal - Republican).
- chaosium, on 05/02/2008, -1/+1"Do you think the GOP is Winning?"
Partially, because no amount of Bush damage could keep the party faithful from voting for gay-hating middleclass destroying scum. - sleepwalkers, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Sure, you can infer all you'd like, but that doesn't mean you're right.

The last time I responded by suggesting you might like to suck black *****, as you keep on going on about it. You seem to have a fixation with this said black male appendage. - Elkinesque, on 05/02/2008, -12/+6No, it sounds like Obama's "I never heard it" --except that Kantor is telling the truth, and Obama was not.
- johnnyboy239, on 05/02/2008, -1/+13You're all being completely ridiculous, it's obviously a fake and there is absolutely no proof that it had anything to do with the Obama campaign. Why don't you all stop concentrating on worthless bs and start looking at things that matter.
- flossdaily, on 05/02/2008, -4/+2I would be more inclined to believe it was the n-word if it was coming from a Republican, but democrats in the 90's? It's possible, sure- but I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.
- andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2Wow, the really sad thing is that this kind of generalization actually sounds reasonable to some people. I'm an Obama supporter, and it's obviously a fake, but honestly, to believe so because he's a Democrat? And to say a Republican would be more likely? That's just ignorant.
- sleepwalkers, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1My thoughts exactly. You'd think a Catholic priest would be the last type of person to go around and molest little boys, but...
- flossdaily, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1You would only think it unlikely if you were a catholic. The other religions thought the whole thing was fishy from the get-go.
- flossdaily, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Actually, Republicans have been appealing to racist voters since the days of the Reagan campaign. Do a little research into something called the "Southern Strategy".
Next consider that Democrats are the LIBERAL party- you know, comprised of the people who were pro-Civil Rights, rather than the republicans (like the late Strom Thurman who ran for president on a Segregationist platform).
You're the ignorant one if you think that the democrats and the republicans are equally likely to be racist.

I'm an Obama supporter, and it's obviously a fake, but honestly, to believe so because he's a Democrat? And to say a Republican would be more likely? That's just ignorant.
- flossdaily, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1I finally found a working copy of the video. It's completely inaudible where the alleged racial slur is supposed to be.
Also, in full context it seems like he could just as likely been speaking about the Clinton staffers in Indiana, not necessarily the people of Indiana. This whole thing seems like a stretch.
Listen, I'm an Obama fan- and I'd like nothing more than to see Hillary drop out now- but can we please stop letting this crap seep into our election?
- p0s3r, on 05/02/2008, -26/+11Frankly, editing and pushing this video is the most disgusting and despicable playing of the race card we've seen yet from the Obama Campaign. Absolutely disgusting.
- AtHomeBoy2000, on 05/02/2008, -20/+177For the sake of argument, let's remove the "worthless white ni**er" part and say it is a voice over.
He still called the people of Indiana "$h!t"!- p0s3r, on 05/02/2008, -27/+20Nope.
"What he says is he’s surprised Perot’s numbers are holding," said Pennebaker in a brief phone interview. "He says they must be shi**ing in the White House."
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/- srhite, on 05/02/2008, -15/+15Check out the video "The War Room pt 9" and listen to Hoosiers being called "*****" and "worthless white ni**ers". Those statements are at 4:48 and 4:55 in the video by Mickey Kantor, Hillary Clinton's advisor. Here's the video: watch?v=4_wKOgMNs0U This video IS the movie. The truth is there and it's very plain with headphones.
- macweirdo42, on 05/02/2008, -10/+10I watched the video - I did not hear him say "worthless white *****."
- andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -0/+6Stop copying and pasting the same lie over and over. He didn't say that. I listened to several different versions several times, very, very loudly. He didn't say it.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3You can't hear anything. If you try to hear "in the whitehouse right now" it's there. If you try to hear "worthless white n*" it's there. Only one of those really makes any sense in the context of a conversation about reports of their widespread wins, however.
- trackerbishop, on 05/02/2008, -6/+9ben smith is a neocon hack. he didnt put the wright video into context and yet he is trying to run damage control for clinton here? clinton = neocon
- andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3Wow. That's one of the stupidest things I've ever read.
- Magee1205, on 05/02/2008, -5/+9I'm going to have to agree w/ p0s3r. I think you people just want clinton out of the race so badly, you're not even trying to see both sides. Oh well, digg is a haven for conspiracy theorists anyways...so I'm sure I'll get dugg down for being a sheep. But at least I'm a happy sheep.
- twiztidsinz, on 05/02/2008, -3/+3Watch the vid with headphones on... you can clearly hear him say:
"It doesn't matter if we win.... those people are *****.. *looks at camera* oh excuse me" -- there was no "ing" at the end
And if your surroundings are quiet enough and you listen carefully you can hear the "How would you like to be those worthless white *****?" He even motions to the camera to move away before he says it.

- Herrold, on 05/02/2008, -6/+8That is a pretty convenient explanation. What you have to take into account is the source. With the perpetual lying by everyone associated with the Clinton administration, why should anyone believe that he was referring to those #'s?
Seems like a convenient answer to yet another quandry, brought to you by the people who retort "it depends on what your definition of is, is" and "Bosnia Sniper fire". - AtHomeBoy2000, on 05/02/2008, -9/+24I stand corrected. I retract my previous statement. He was NOT talking about the people of Indiana.
- andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -1/+8Nor did he say the other part. So, basically, this is not news.
- chrissku, on 05/02/2008, -6/+7Yep.....He did call the people of Indiana *****. When I read his lips it sure looked pretty cut and dry to me.
- Zera, on 05/02/2008, -8/+8"He says they must be shi**ing in the White House."
"How would you like to be in the White House right now?"
I'm not sure WHAT is said, but NEITHER of those are correct, because the last word, the potential "*****" word is CLEARLY beginning with an N and is no doubt a two syllable word.- Chirp08, on 05/02/2008, -1/+9*long pause* Naggers, the answer was Naggers
- goomba323, on 05/02/2008, -3/+17I'm an Obama supporter, and though I wish this had some traction and credibility, I must concede that this is a non-issue, and if this was happening to Obama all of us would be calling it a "distraction"...

- spiltmilkblog, on 05/02/2008, -16/+47I'm having flashbacks to Bill "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" Clinton, and Hillary "I dodged sniper fire" Clinton... They're all crooks and liars, the whole lot of them in the Clinton camp... And on top of it, they're all too stupid to realize we now live in a world where THEIR WORDS ARE ON TAPE and are FREELY SHARED AND ACCESSIBLE. Duh!
- Elkinesque, on 05/02/2008, -15/+11Wow, you'll believe anything foul about the Clintons just to make yourself feel good, won'tcha?
- ConceptualTrap, on 05/02/2008, -4/+9Are you denying the sniper fire and the "depends on what your definition of is is" comments?
- andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -1/+5No, he's not, you moron! How the ***** do you people live with yourselves? Being so stupid? He was saying that this whole "slur" incident is *****, he didn't say it. DailyKos and the Huffington Post - both Obama supporters - have admitted it. Obama would be ashamed of you.
- womanforchange, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1You know, the woman made a mistake, we all tend to exaggerate the stressful situations we've experienced, but she wasn't wrong about the danger of sniper fire in Bosnia, why do you think they made dive-bomb landings in Tuzla, and apparently issued Hillary a flak jacket and put her in the cockpit? Read some other accounts, instead of just drinking the Kool-Aid about how there wasn't actually any bullets zinging off the runway.

- LastVisibleDog, on 05/02/2008, -2/+2You speak the truth - Clinton's lie
(remember: Bill Clinton was impeached and disbarred for lying under oat and Hillary is proving to also be a pathological liar) - SargedeathXmode, on 05/02/2008, -0/+4I really don't care about Bill's sexual relations... Though, by all means, if you didn't vote for Gore cause some old guy's sexual habits interests and disgusts you, more power to you? The dodging sniper fire was kinda serious as a lie though...
- womanforchange, on 05/04/2008, -0/+2http://dallasmorningviewsblog.dallasnews.com/archi ...
- SargedeathXmode, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Ah, thanks for the link. In the midst of the Pro-Obama atmosphere here I tend to rarely hear a coherent reason for why Clinton claimed she was under sniper fire. Still, if this was true, I don't quite understand why Clinton later retracted her claims and said she misspoke. If it really had some truth to it, the she should defend her statements and ads.
- womanforchange, on 05/04/2008, -0/+2http://dallasmorningviewsblog.dallasnews.com/archi ...
- spiltmilkblog, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Even if he didn't say what he is being accused of saying, what I say still stands. The Clinton camp is full of corrupt liars and there are plenty of examples.

- The_Wallbanger, on 05/02/2008, -9/+53I'm not a Clinton supporter by any stretch of the imagination, but if you close your eyes instead of reading the subtitles it does sound an aweful lot like "How'd you like to be in the White House right now." As far as the "*****" comment, it makes more sense to direct that at the Bush Sr administration rather than the voters of the state that you're winning in.

1992 Bush (R) 42.9% Clinton (D) 36.8% - seems to me he was calling them "*****" b/c they were LOSING 42-40- The_Wallbanger, on 05/02/2008, -0/+12Here's the full clip in context. Notice as Stephanopolis reads the results at 4:15 into the video. "Indiana, we're ahead!" Keep in mind the votes were still being calculated. They eventually lost the state as CNN reports. - narcofiche, on 05/02/2008, -1/+14I agree. I don't support Clinton at all and I really hate when people just assume news is always true. There's probably thousands of people employed to look up dirt on the candidates. Now that everybody is making such a big deal about Pastor Wright, they know that they don't even have to find damaging news about the candidate, but the people he associates with, too. This election makes me want to die.

and looking at the context:
1. he just called the indiana voters "*****" without question, lowered his voice when he did so.
2. lowered his voice to a whisper to make the statement in question. if he was saying "white house", why would we whisper? and since his train of thought was already on the "*****" indy voters, why completely switch topics to asking (who would he be asking) about the white house?
3. "house" sounds nothing like "ni-". not even the same syllable count.
either way, there is no question whatsoever he called the people of indiana "*****"- speakerfordead, on 05/02/2008, -11/+18Yeah, the "How would you like to be in the White House right now?" statement is extremely stupid in context and a very weak argument.
- PolishLogic, on 05/02/2008, -1/+9Hmm, saying White House during a presidential election is a weak argument, but saying "worthless white *****" during a presidential election isn't.
Ok, terrific.- speakerfordead, on 05/02/2008, -3/+1No, saying that entire sentence in context of the discussion they were having is stupid.
- womanforchange, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1I'm sure George Stephanopoulos would have been thrilled to be a fly on the wall in the Bush War Room, watching the Bush campaign advisors "*****" themselves because Clinton was WINNING. It makes PERFECT sense, and a far more sense than what Obamabots and MCCainiacs would like to have heard.

I'm guessing you think that David Blane's Street Magic tv shows don't have camera tricks either.
- PolishLogic, on 05/02/2008, -1/+4Yeah, I did. Why the ***** do you think I replied to it?
- plhearn, on 05/02/2008, -4/+15What he said was "Those people are *****". And by "those people" he is referring to the bush campaign, which is why after that he says "How would you like to be in the White House right now?". The doctored clip on youtube edited out the "ing" so it sounds like he just says "Those people are *****". That clip is from the 1992 Clinton election where Bill Clinton had a huge lead in Indiana. Why on earth would he call the people in Indiana ***** after they just voted for his candidate by a landslide? That doesn't even make sense.
- poopdigger, on 05/02/2008, -2/+4apparently, he said "those people are *****... excuse me... in the white house"
I hear that about as clearly as "worthless white n**ger," so who knows - narcofiche, on 05/02/2008, -0/+11Calling Indiana *****? What are the chances that this video comes right when we're IN Indiana for the primaries.
- deepdiggdude, on 05/02/2008, -10/+4This is a prime example of delusion. Obama supporters are just a bad as FOX. They only see what they want to see because they want a particular outcome.
Sad. Always question. Always be suspicious. Outright support for any idea or person is a recipe for abuse.- andburn1, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3Don't generalize. - jmk4422, on 05/02/2008, -13/+44Look, I got excited about this one too, but it's clearly being taken out of context. - PolishLogic, on 05/02/2008, -5/+3I don't think he was referring to Indianans. I'd say he was referring to the other candidates considering they were reading state after state of Clinton leads.
It would make as much sense to say that as it would for Obama to say "the people of Washington are *****".
Much ado about nothing, here.- br0wnstar, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2That just sounds to me like some Polish logic.
- PolishLogic, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2Oh, I've never heard that before. Come on, you're better than that. Try a bit harder next time.
Now as for my comment, why would you call people ***** when they are the people a state in which you're leading? Apparently you seem to think that is what's happening here.
...and you're denouncing MY logic??? Wow.
- PolishLogic, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2Oh, I've never heard that before. Come on, you're better than that. Try a bit harder next time.
- br0wnstar, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2That just sounds to me like some Polish logic.
- swrostmore, on 05/02/2008, -2/+5He said Bush Sr's campaign staff must be "*****" because Clinton was polling well in red states like Indiana.
- bobcrotch, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2lolniggers
- poopdigger, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2apparently, he said "those people are *****... excuse me... in the white house"
I hear that about as clearly as "worthless white n**ger," so who knows
- PolishLogic, on 05/02/2008, -5/+3I don't think he was referring to Indianans. I'd say he was referring to the other candidates considering they were reading state after state of Clinton leads.
- AlextheK, on 05/02/2008, -21/+8Looks like an Obama dirty trick. Oh, wait--I forgot. Obama is pure as the Heaven-Sent Angels, so any dirty tricks MUST be Clinton's. No matter how bogus.
This is yet more proof that Obama fans are not just blind but willfully dishonest.- cheezintern, on 05/02/2008, -1/+7You're an idiot. Lots and lots of people passionately hate the Clintons, that have nothing to do with Obama's campaign.
- johnnyboy239, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3Unfortunately cheez is right, there are quite a few people that severely dislike the clinton's that have no relation with the Obama campaign. That being said, I support Obama and this is just some idiot 12 year old editing a video so he can think he's cool. Anyone who pays attention to this kind of bs is playing right into the hands of the 12 year old.
- DreKor, on 05/02/2008, -2/+4In my defense, I disliked Hillary Clinton before she started her run for the White House.
- cheezintern, on 05/02/2008, -1/+3right on, I have a collection of signs I 'found' when she was running for senate.
- theapplegod, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2Obama is perfect. Perfect in every way..... He'd never do anything wrong...... =)
It's a losing battle on Digg. Obama spanks all jumped from Paul and would be doing just the same if this had played out the other way. - jellygraph, on 05/03/2008, -2/+1Ah, a troll.
- cheezintern, on 05/02/2008, -1/+7You're an idiot. Lots and lots of people passionately hate the Clintons, that have nothing to do with Obama's campaign.
- PolishLogic, on 05/02/2008, -17/+11Why is the whispering part in the original video completely inaudible mumbling yet the other copy that surfaced today clearly said "worthless white *****" even though the words don't match his lips? So strange. It might almost make one wonder if the other video is tainted......
Nah, nobody would ever do something like that. It's also totally reasonable to never question why the other video didn't surface until 16 years later. Nope, nothing fishy at all here.- johnnyboy239, on 05/02/2008, -0/+41 million kudos for you sir, you said exactly what I was about to
- suzywang3000, on 05/02/2008, -10/+5now that the NAACP has buried the N word it is really a moot point. Move on people...

- jlee2081, on 05/02/2008, -2/+10they already got the original video deleted off YouTube...
- IdigObama, on 05/02/2008, -5/+4I didn't do it! I didn't do it! lol
The Clinton's and their campaign are alway's so clean and pure,lol- Elkinesque, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2And you are an example of how dirty and dishonest Obama Robots have become.
I was an Obama supporter until this week. You jackasses have proven to me that he's not just more of the same. He's worse, because his followers are brain dead.
- Elkinesque, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2And you are an example of how dirty and dishonest Obama Robots have become.
- swrostmore, on 05/02/2008, -6/+53Context: Clinton staffers Carville and Stephanopolous are looking at poll returns. They are bragging about Clinton's strong showing in red states against the incumbent president in the White House.
Stephanopolous: Looks pretty good (high fives Kantor).
Kantor: Look at Indiana. 42-40 [Bush is up 2]. It doesn't matter - those people are *****...excuse me -
Kantor: [whispering] It doesn't look very good for the White House. How would you like to be in the White house right now?
Think about the alternative transcription - does it make more sense, or less?
Stephanopolous: Looks pretty good (high fives Kantor).
Kantor: Look at Indiana. 42-40 [Bush is up 2]. It doesn't matter - those people are *****...excuse me -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_wKOgMNs0U- PolishLogic, on 05/02/2008, -5/+3This may be the first thing we've ever agreed on. However, I'm sure that the latter version of what was said will probably seem to make sense to quite a few people anyhow.
Side note: the original "snippet" that started the commotion today is now set to private. Guess that's what happens when you're caught trying to fake a controversy. - AndrewDB, on 05/02/2008, -0/+24:47 into the youtube link that Swr posted.
- centerblack, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Obviously swr edited that version of the video to remove the offensive comments!
- CannedMango, on 05/02/2008, -0/+4In the Huffington Post article, the claim is that he is calling the pollsters in Indiana "*****" for predicting that Bush would win but then having the vote go for Clinton.
- lilsis, on 05/02/2008, -1/+15yeah i just watched the original footage with headphones, and it's clear as day, he definitely says "How would you like to be in the white house right now?" and in context it seems that he is talking about the Bush administration when he says "those people are *****"
plus, think about it, white *****? that's just stupid. it makes no damn sense whatsoever.- CannedMango, on 05/02/2008, -2/+2That's "clear as day" to you? I could barely hear it. It doesn't sound like "white house" to me, but again, it's clear as mud.
- jellygraph, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1Yes, "How would you like to be in the White House now?" also makes _complete_ sense. If he had actually said what he claims to have said, then it would have made more sense, both grammatically and logically, to have said
"How do you think it would feel to be in the White House right now?" or
"I wonder how it feels to be in the White House right now?" or
"We ought to be in the White House right now."
There are plenty of logical things he could have said, but didn't. Instead, he supposedly makes a remark that is asking if those guys would like to be in the White House. What an idiotic question. Of course they do. That's what they are campaigning to do, right?
Personally, I'm unconvinced. I listened to the audio quite a few times and I still can't get the sound "-ger" to sound like "now" from "White House right now"...
- The_Wallbanger, on 05/02/2008, -0/+74:10 - Stephanopolis: "Indiana, we're ahead!" You don't call voters "*****" when you're winning in the polls at that moment.
- bfrank72, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2Well we can all agree on one thing. That high five sucked. Hardly any clap.
- womanforchange, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Exactly, I came to that conclusion after watching the clip several times, he definitely says "*****" and never finishes the sentence because he's embarrassed by his own toilet language. The problem is that most people wouldn't bother to even watch the clip, and the Huffington Post partisans are more than happy to smear the Clinton campaign with an unsubstantiated accusation.
- PolishLogic, on 05/02/2008, -5/+3This may be the first thing we've ever agreed on. However, I'm sure that the latter version of what was said will probably seem to make sense to quite a few people anyhow.
- whiterice0, on 05/02/2008, -18/+10STOP LETTING THE FACTS GET IN THE WAY OF A GREAT SMEAR CAMPAIGN BY THE OBAMA HERD!!! --- Obama, Obama, he's our man, when Ron Paul can't do it, Barack maybe can!
- CannedMango, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1If you're going to slam one side for running a smear campaign, then I can only imagine that you're extremely livid over the entire Jeremiah Wright fiasco and are disgusted by the amount of media coverage that it has received. You must also be disappointed that Clinton hasn't stepped up and spoken out against the media and their smear tactics.
- womanforchange, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Why shoulld Hillary defend Obama against the "media" smear tactics? Has Obama defended Hillary against the media smear tactics?
Nah...I think that Michelle and Barack decided he needed some street cred with the black community if he was ever going to be a successful politician, so he joined a popular black church, and they just never expected that whitey would find out about Rev Wright's radical thoughts on AIDS and Tuskegee and 9/11. I don't believe that neither of them knew what the Rev was saying, and he should have cut hies ties with a him immediately for me to have any faith that he actually believed that Wright's comments were wrong and divisive. He got caught pandering to the descendants of African slaves, in order to "belong". I think that the media and the public have every right to hold him accountable for that, and for cozying up to Rezko and for lying about taking oil money and about his legislative record. He has made too may "bone-headed" moves in his limited political career for my taste. I think he could use some more seasoning.
- womanforchange, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Why shoulld Hillary defend Obama against the "media" smear tactics? Has Obama defended Hillary against the media smear tactics?
- theapplegod, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2I love Jeremiah Wright and the smear it has added to Mr. Perfect's campaign. Finally some negative publicity for him. I guess the media couldn't resist that story.
Horray for skeletons in the closet!- CannedMango, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Your argument makes no sense... he's so perfect, let's bring him down unjustly for the actions of someone he's (extremely) loosely tied to?
The fact of the matter is, it's very hard to criticize Barack Obama himself.- womanforchange, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Ummm...I have no problem criticizing him...he had a cushy real estate deal with a dodgy fund raiser, less than 3 years ago, I believe. He only just paid parking tickets from when he went Harvard. He boldly lied in a campaign ad about taking money from big oil. His did nothing to improve the living conditions of his constituents when an Illinois state legislator. He smokes. He did drugs. ( and don't say everyone has, I grew up in the sixties and seventies and was in college in the hedonistic eighties and I never touched a single illicit substance) He's disrespectful to his white grandmother. He lifted all his good speeches and catch phrases from movies, songs, other politicians and leaders. He has difficulty answering hard policy questions. He has a holier than thou attitude, although I suspect he's a scientologist. His supporters act as though he were the Dalai Lama, but he's not even a good enough role model to keep his supporters from using foul language when commenting about Hillary on blogs and social networks. He doesn't have enough experience and his vaunted "judgment", has been proved flawed on numerous occasions. I would choose any of the other Democratic candidates before I would choose Obama, because I don't think he has the chops.

- NonLeftistDiggr, on 05/02/2008, -8/+3Whether he said it or not, and it seems pretty obvious it's not what he said; it's white people, it never mattered before what is said about white people, so why all of a sudden does it matter now?

?- NonLeftistDiggr, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2No one cares what anyone says about white people any day of the week, but this is supposed to help obama, so now there is manufactured offense.

- popfilter, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3Well, I'd say just call us "Hoosiers"...but don't call a Boilermaker that.
- Jovensdesciple, on 05/02/2008, -17/+5The democrat party IS the party of racists. Robert KKK Bird, 'Kill Whitey" Obama, Bill clintons brother was definitely caught on tape saying ***** many time, rev wrong.
- enclaved, on 05/02/2008, -2/+2Shut up cracker.
- marksism, on 05/02/2008, -5/+5So now we're going to hold every candidate responsible for what any person they've spoken to in the last few years has said during the course of their lives? I dislike Hillary but this is really a stretch.
- StephSchiff, on 05/04/2008, -0/+0Hillary has tons of financial scandals the MSM is ignoring - they can't find anything on Obama yet hold him responsible for Wright and some guy he worked with that happened to be a radical. McCain will bring up Hillary's scandals if she somehow finds a way to make that pesky math (bends reality and gets the voters to buy it) work and gets the nomination. How will she win when black voters leave en mass and people like me (a moderate 30 year old white mother and veteran) who supported this new candidate that inspired us can't bring ourselves to go to the polls for such a Machiavellian Rove-in-training (Hillary). We won't vote for McCain - but you'll find that we either stay home, write-in Obama, or vote Nader. The DNC would be hurting for money and the only way we lose in November is to alienate half of the party by overruling the will of the people. He has the Delegates, the money, and the popular vote - the only reason he is down right now is because he's not pandering to voters with this gas tax thing that no economist agrees with (yet everyone that disagrees with Hillary - including all of these experts) is an "elitist." Obama is the only person in this election not born with a silver spoon in his mouth - how has she managed to equate being smart with elitism? It saddens me that most of the people in my tax bracket (low -to middle middle class) are too ignorant to do the research about the gas tax issue. Obama seems to be the only one who has learned from his experience; he had to vote to repeal a gas tax holiday he voted for after Big Oil just raised prices and the only entities that benefited were the oil companies, not the people. Why not learn a little before you jump on the Clinton band wagon - she can't even pay her own bills or the health care for her employees, yet she keeps spending and ignoring her debts to the small business owners she claims to be the champion of. Is this who we want in charge of our budget?
- kenedamick, on 05/02/2008, -7/+6Alright, obama haters, so is this "HUFF SPAM" too? Come on.
- chrissku, on 05/02/2008, -7/+10He still called the people of Indiana "*****"...........so explain that one away!
- swrostmore, on 05/02/2008, -1/+4They were high-fiving about Clinton polling within 2 points of Bush in the red state of Indiana - so how does it make sense for him to iinsult the people that voted for his candidate in surprisingly large numbers?
- Elkinesque, on 05/02/2008, -6/+1Uh, no, he didn't call "the people of Indiana" *****. Try listening for what is said, rather than what you'd like to hear from the lying Obama dirty tricks squad.
- chrissku, on 05/02/2008, -1/+3Oh shut up. So sick of Hillary supporters throwing stones in a glass house,
- Elkinesque, on 05/02/2008, -1/+0I'm not a Hillary supporter. I used to be an Obama supporter, but exposure to Digg is making me reconsider. I can't believe the level of invective and slime coming from Obama's people. You're typical.

- womanforchange, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1If you heard that, you're clearly on some strong meds...it's virtually inaudible anyway.
If you actually pay very close attention and watch his mouth, it looks like he says, "it doesn't matter if we win it, those people are "*****"..." and then he stops himself because he's just realized he's gone scatological on camera, and never finishes the sentence, with the likely "their pants" because he's referring to the Bush campaign. He continues with," How would you to be in the White House right now?" He was gloating, not about Hoosiers in Indiana, but about the losers in the White House, who were probably, in fact, ***** a brick.

- BryanG412, on 05/02/2008, -8/+2I can't say for sure that he called them worthless white *****, but for ***** sake the man clearly says that the people in Indiana are *****. He doesn't say *****, he's not talking about the white house when he says it, the statement comes immediately after the Indiana polling results are presented to him. Those people are ***** doesn't even make any sense. I could personally care less about whether or not this will negatively effect Hillary, but I can guarantee if something came out like this regarding Obama it would have been on the news already. The Clintons are so good at lying that they can tell a lie about a video that exists and people will believe them. If that video of Hillary in Bosnia never came out she would have continued to say it happened because that's just how they are.

By the way what were they talking about ,i mean if the "director" could release the whole thing it would be "helpful"(Yes i mean it))
OK OK they didn't take all these precautions i'm talking about for snippets of the Rev Wright Sermons - BridgeBurner, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1YouTube removed the embedded video. Now that's courage...
