Bush Lied About Giving Up Golf: Video Proof
huffingtonpost.com — President Bush said with a straight face this week that he gave up golf in honor of the fallen soldiers in Iraq, claiming that he quit after the bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad in August 2003. In fact, Bush went golfing two months after the bombing the UN headquarters, and Keith Olbermann found the video:

Clinton will be remembered as a pervert who's wife got her ass slammed in 2008. Carter will be remembered as just the worst president the US has ever had. Period. History even proves that Nixon accomplishments far outweigh his indiscretions. Libtards, just keep your eyes closed. Life is easier when you just feel good and don't think. Did you hear about Olbermans old girlfriends coming out and saying that he's a complete fake and a racist?
Have you seen the little slut he's doing? He says he likes her for her mind, he met her on the internet. (pics below)
http://www.olbermannwatch.com/archives/2007/05/a_r ...
(no wonder he hates mexicans, look at the guy humping her)
Here is a quote from HER, read this AFTER looking at her pics.
When are the people in charge going to realize that we, the youth, the ones who are in high school and college or who, like me, have just graduated, do not want to be read the news by another cheesy blonde anchor who looks like the girl who does keg stands and dances on coffee tables at frat parties? Respectable journalists don’t wear hot pink and they don’t die their hair blonde if they are Korean like Mia Lee, one of the anchors at KCAL. The women shouldn’t have fake ***** that are pushed up to their neck and the men shouldn’t be orange. Do you respect the guy in your psych class that has frosted tips and highlights? No. Then why would you feel differently toward the guy reading the news?
Olbermann was also censured by the ADL for his "Hitler" salutes and references.
Olbermann refers to "Guaccamole" when discussing a man of Hispanic origin.
He refers to the Saints (all black men on the field) in a huddle saying they are playing craps.
His "Flippino" parents remark about Michelle Milkin.
Imus got fired for that.
The guy is ***** out of his mind. - tama00, on 05/17/2008, -1/+4You guys have to look at what the world sees from this image as well. We see Bush, the man who represents America! Not keeping promises, not caring about the respect for its own citizens and not caring for all the people in Iraq that are hurt, yet still raging war against them.
And remember this guy is representing all of America and that probably includes you if you are a citizen of America. The government doesn't tell you what to do or believe, you tell the government what to do! Everyone outside of America sees that you people do not care about all the hurt people, even the soldiers - because most of you do nothing about it. You are all just like your president. All of the American people would rather play golf than give your respect to the people in the war. So despite what some of you say on this forum, i think Bush represents America accurately and this video only adds to the proof.- mlhams, on 05/17/2008, -1/+0Citizens get the governments they deserve.
Next stop: coup d'etat to finish off what is left of democracy in America. - gwinerreniwg, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Oh yes, and that wonderful PM of yours, John Howard (who I recall pretty much blew George Bush and repeated his lines of crap) represents all Australian's views.
A president (and especially THIS American president), does not represent the policies, feelings and attitudes of an entire population. At his BEST Bush had BARELY 50% of America behind him. Perhaps instead of worrying about America, you should have worried about you own PM who sucked up to this terrible American president and thereby further enabled his war crimes. Buried for nationalistic arrogance and myopia.

The President of the United States says "You know what, I felt so bad about the troops dying in Iraq, on day X I gave up golf."
Then, it turns out he was lying.
You don't think that the President of the United States being caught lying is important? That he was not only lying, but lying about how much he cares about the troops that he puts in harms way? A President who's party doesn't want to increase benefits and education for troops that come home?
Yeah. Color me odd, but I think it's pretty important.- SpudgeBoy, on 05/16/2008, -3/+10It only counts if the president lies about blow jobs. Lying about everything else is fine. Just ask a republican.
- x414353, on 05/16/2008, -4/+11Obama did not lie about wearing a flag pin.

- WWWoody, on 05/16/2008, -6/+9No, no, no. You're missing the point.
You see, he said something along the lines of, "I'm not going to golf anymore to show that I can give things up like the troops in Iraq are" to boost positive views of him.
Also, loltroll.- ssn697, on 05/16/2008, -12/+5No, I get the supposed "point". It is just a relevant as the "Obama doesn't wear flag pins" crap.
It is idiots like you who can't see the forest through the trees.
Tell me, oh knowledgeable one: Were you even aware Bush had claimed to give up golf before yesterday?
That sir, is me definitively pointing out you are a ***** for brains. Thank you very much.- WWWoody, on 05/16/2008, -1/+3Well, yes, I was aware of that. It was on digg just a few days ago. :3
- Mejari, on 05/16/2008, -1/+4Obama never lied about not wearing flag pins (which he doesn't do all the time, probably 50/50). Whereas Bush proclaimed that he was making a ridiculous gesture to 'comfort' the troops and families, and then couldn't even keep his word on that! It's like he promised to give up chocolate to comfort the troops and then was caught sneaking m&m's. If you're going to make an incredibly tiny gesture to compensate for the loss of thousands of live you better damn well at least keep it.
- ssn697, on 05/17/2008, -1/+2WWWody
Thank you for admitting you lose. OMG, a politician wasn't frank and truthful! Call the ***** press!

I accept your apology.
@Mejari
In your lame ass world, does using the word "proclaimed" carry extra weight? He forgot about a round of gold 4 ***** YEARS ago. This is what you use as a proclamation?
I proclaim, Mejari is a douche. Wow, you are quite a douche!
All these politicians are full of *****. Bush just appears to be more full of ***** than most. To make this a big deal shows more about YOU, than him though. YOU need to grow up.
- PolishLogic, on 05/16/2008, -6/+5No, he said something about quitting in August of 2003, and low and behold he's on video in October of 2003. That's huge!!! I'm completely outraged that the leader of our country was two months off about his last golf outing that happened 5 years ago.
That's a national scandal the likes of Iran Contra, Watergate, or the JFK assassination. This story could single-handedly end life as we know it in the US, if not the entire world.
Oh, and since some diggers won't actually notice...this post is just oozing with sarcasm.- SpudgeBoy, on 05/16/2008, -0/+5It isn't the one single lie, it is the thousands of lies.
No sarcasm. - PolishLogic, on 05/17/2008, -2/+4Oh, of course. Forgetting about an afternoon of golf 5 years ago is such a damnation of one's character.

- LukasSmith, on 05/17/2008, -1/+2When you can't find anything of him playing golf later then October, 2 months after he said he quite, that really isn't that impressive. Now if you found something in 2004, 2005, or later, that would be impressive. Perhaps Bush forgot which month he gave up golf. Could happen considering he is the most important person in the USA and has to deal with BS from every corner of the world including digg.com.
- LukasSmith, on 05/17/2008, -2/+2Oh my bad. I mean only 3 weeks after he said he quit he was playing Golf. So ***** what? Seriously how ***** stupid are you hippies? You will pull propaganda from anything. Your like Karl Rove except less interesting.

- PolishLogic, on 05/16/2008, -45/+12Holy *****, stop the presses. He forgot about a golf outing he took in October of 2003. How dare he forget about this. I mean the man clearly hasn't had to worry himself with anything else over the last 5 years.
I don't know about you Perfect Paul's out there, but not too long ago I misspoke on when the last time I had played last. I stated that it was February for a friend's birthday, only to be reminded by another friend during that conversation that he and I played golf in the middle of March.
Somewhere Keith Oblermann is jacking himself off right now for finding one video clip of Bush golfing shortly after the time he cited in an interview 5 after the fact. Then trying to spark outrage, as if it's even worthy of it. Olbermann you were ***** on Sports Center, and you're ***** on MSNBC.
Buried, just because.- ConceptualTrap, on 05/16/2008, -3/+7I don't think anyone cares whatsoever that he played golf after the bombing. The fact is he went ahead and said the statement as if he went into mourning immediately after those events transpired and stopped golfing as some sort of half-assed memorial.
Regardless, the sadder things in this story is that he apparently kept golfing after 9/11 because that wasn't a BIG ENOUGH tragedy to lose your swing on.
Additionally, quitting golf because thousands died is akin to me swearing off books that start with the letter 'Q' because 6 million jews died in the holocaust.- PolishLogic, on 05/16/2008, -2/+2Yet people get upset about stories like the lack of a lapel pin on Obama, then they go out and hold this story up like a sacred cow.
You forget that he didn't just offer up his golf history, he was asked directly about it in an interview.
- PolishLogic, on 05/16/2008, -2/+2Yet people get upset about stories like the lack of a lapel pin on Obama, then they go out and hold this story up like a sacred cow.
- Mejari, on 05/16/2008, -2/+7Did you vow not to golf while our nation is at war to comfort the troops and their families? Are you the leader of the free world? If not then don't be so surprised that we hold him to a higher standard.
Bush gave a specific date and event that prompted this 'sacrifice' and was then caught breaking his promise after that date and event. So obviously, no matter how long ago it was it still shows that Bush is unwilling to absentminded enough to give up on something as ridiculous as golf, or to forget that he told himself was supposed to in the first place, which either means he doesn't want to give up a single thing for anyone else or that he doesn't think about the troops and their sacrifices enough to remember that he wasn't supposed to golf.- PolishLogic, on 05/17/2008, -3/+2People speak of holding somebody who is the "leader of the free world" to a higher standard, yet those same people also then quickly discount others' associations with wackos. Those others I speak of are vying to become said "leader of the free world". Why give them a free pass, why not also hold them to the same high standards? The job might be theirs someday, right?
In my meager opinion, other than the family and loved ones of military personnel and contractors, the personnel and contractors themselves, the president has shown that he's done something that every other American has done over the lasts 5 years. He's made some ***** little token of support, akin to putting a yellow ribbon magnet on your car.
In doing so, he's just being a man of the people, as the country claims they would hope a president is. Take that for what it's worth, good or bad.
I'm sure people are assuming that I'm a huge Bushie, when oddly enough, I'm not. I voted against him in '04, and it was the first time I've voted against my "party line" in the presidential election. What I am doing though, is pointing out how ***** ridiculous it is to hold this story up on some other plateau, when at the same time discounting and claiming unfair treatment of people in stories about their campaign advisors/preachers/associates. Engaging in uproar over misspeaking, forgetting, or even lying about a round of golf (if you find it to be a lie) is as a asinine as engaging in uproar over somebody not putting their hand over there heart for the pledge.
If you're going to show outrage, how about a little consistency when it comes to it. That's all.
- PolishLogic, on 05/17/2008, -3/+2People speak of holding somebody who is the "leader of the free world" to a higher standard, yet those same people also then quickly discount others' associations with wackos. - bicyclethief, on 05/16/2008, -1/+8It's not like Bush misspoke about what he had for breakfast. If you're talking about your token sacrifice to the troops, you'd better get it right don't you think?
- PolishLogic, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1In a world of prepared statements that are carefully crafted, edited and re-edited, I think we've forgotten that these people are still human and when asked a question where the answer must come off the cuff and on the fly, things might not come across correctly and with perfect accuracy.
Then again, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you probably don't are what I think.- bicyclethief, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1No, I do care what people think.
But let's be honest: Bush was a fool to answer this golfing question in the first place. It was a losing proposition to associate the leisure of golf with the tragedy and loss of war. Giving up something like golf trivializes the sacrifice of the troops, no matter which side you're on. - PolishLogic, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1So the correct answer to the question asked would be?
- bicyclethief, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1No, I do care what people think.

- BaudiIROCZ, on 05/16/2008, -1/+8It's not that he "forgot" about this one golf outing. It's the fact that he cited a soldier's death as the date he decided to give up golfing. This video is from 2 months AFTER that soldiers death. Which means he and his story are full of *****. This kind of stuff is pathetic.
- PolishLogic, on 05/17/2008, -3/+2Actually he didn't say he vowed to quit golf that day he said:
"I remember when (Mr) de Mello, who was at the UN, got killed in Baghdad as a result of these murderers taking this good man's life, and I was playing golf, I think I was in central Texas, and they pulled me off the golf course and I said, it's just not worth it anymore to do."
Maybe we should also be discussing equally pointless stories like lapel pins, preachers, and wives' tax returns?
- PolishLogic, on 05/17/2008, -3/+2Actually he didn't say he vowed to quit golf that day he said:
- ConceptualTrap, on 05/16/2008, -3/+7I don't think anyone cares whatsoever that he played golf after the bombing. The fact is he went ahead and said the statement as if he went into mourning immediately after those events transpired and stopped golfing as some sort of half-assed memorial.
- petrodollar, on 05/16/2008, -9/+41Bush gave up golf just like he gave up alcohol.

- arial, on 05/16/2008, -7/+11Is anyone surprised?
- funkymoose, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Yeah, i'm surprised people care. It's frigging golf. Yeah I guess it might have been a good idea at first (not that anyone would give him credit for that), and he didn't live up to it. Most people wouldn't have done anything. Any time people tell me they're quitting something they like I take it with a grain of salt, whether it's my aunt or the president of the United States.
- rabidbadger, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1It's not "friggen golf" it's friggen hypocrisy

- heynow21, on 05/16/2008, -11/+21It's such an idiotic pledge to begin with I really don't care if it's true or not. Did he also give up carrot cake and American Idol to show his solidarity with the troops? Don't forget he and all the other chicken hawk republicans also wear their american flag lapel pins...
- techweenie, on 05/16/2008, -3/+50'...and he continued flying with his National Guard group for the next two years.' And 'Mission Accomplished' was meant for the sailors. And that funny video he did about looking under his desk for WMDs was respectful of the sacrifices of American families. Worst. President. Ever.

- Jexie, on 05/16/2008, -0/+17The same thing his entire tenure will have achieved come Nov. - absolutely nothing.
- Loonacy, on 05/17/2008, -0/+10I'd be a Bush supporter if his tenure had been "absolutely nothing". But it was far worse than that.
- userperson, on 05/17/2008, -0/+3Dude he's made lots of supporters rich, he's achieved a lot: Mission Accomplished!
- tidu, on 05/17/2008, -6/+2What's this story supposed to achieve?
- userperson, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1Like pretty much every political article on digg it's a 2 minutes hate!
http://is.gd/aX3
Name your enemy have fun 'screaming and yelling' at him, congratulate yourself and like minded compatriots for your shared belief.
Know that you've named and 'fought' the greatest evil so you don't have to look for any other or greater evil.

- uziko, on 05/17/2008, -1/+3physically, it achieves absolutely nothing, however mentally, it makes it look like bush is grieving over the dying americans in iraq, which if he is playing golf he crearly can't do, which makes america feel more like our commander and chief is actually doing what he is doing for the right reasons
- Hrodrik, on 05/17/2008, -1/+0"What the ***** is giving up golf supposed to achieve?"
That's what made the whole thing special before. He actually thinks that's a ***** sacrifice. One which he can't even do, apparently.
While the rest...
Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before
Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before
My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars- masteryoda, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1Surprisingly this man was elected twice. Go USA.
- Jexie, on 05/16/2008, -0/+17The same thing his entire tenure will have achieved come Nov. - absolutely nothing.

- bradysdaman, on 05/17/2008, -2/+1quit your whining, you volunteered
- richiestang78, on 05/16/2008, -3/+8Wow bush lying, no say it aint so.
- rufusdog, on 05/16/2008, -4/+14George W. Bush has done nothing but lie to the American people since day one. Well OK, he also enriched his family and his cronies too but that also involved lots of lying! If it comes from his mouth and is intelligible then it must be untrue.
- MaceSoul, on 05/16/2008, -13/+4So he's off by two months. That's a 4% variance on memory. BFD.
- DaDrake, on 05/16/2008, -12/+3I am not even sure if this is a lie, even if Bush remember this 5 years ago. Think about it... Bush was asked why "the media" hasn't seen him on the golf course and if it had anything to do with Iraq. Bush answer was "yes" in response to "if Iraq had anything to do with it". Therefore, Bush wasn't asked if he actually quit golf... just why his presence wasn't observed. The actual word "quit" seems to be something the media added even tho the question nor the response included it. The fact is, only Bush can know why he no longer does some of the daily activities he used to as Governor... and that can't be proven or disproven.
- perkoff, on 05/17/2008, -0/+0Shut the ***** up moron.
- highlyhigh, on 05/16/2008, -2/+6did he really say that with a straight face? because i've never seen that man with a straight face. that monkey grinning malice of a mask seems to be glued to his face permanently.
- uziko, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1uh guys let's get all worked up over this guy above because he called a human being a monkey, remember those shirts those were about mokeys too
i dugg this guy up so that he would get exposure, if it weren't for that i would digg him down because i dislike him

- evo8ftw, on 05/16/2008, -22/+4OMG...........................................Keith Olberman stfu. Can you not find anything better to do? Recent years I don't really consider 5 years ago recent years. If you use your brain that was only 5 months into the deal. God the OP should be banned from digg. Keith Olberman should be sent to Guantanamo and be water boarded all day until he actually stops breathing. Plus anyone who is distraught by this should be shot to the moon to live there forever because there pea sized brains probably thing the moon can substain life.

- Tubilakken, on 05/16/2008, -3/+7does he ever speaks the truth ?
- deweather, on 05/16/2008, -8/+3who cares? he's a lame duck right now. His original comment was stupid and pointless. Why spend anytime trying to find proof of him playing golf? what important thing have we gained from this that we didn't already know? Spend time on important things.
- CoheednCambria, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Lame duck? He can do what, and has done what he wants. Who is going to stop him? Certainly not Pelosi, Reid or anybody else in congress.
- perkoff, on 05/17/2008, -0/+0I like how you're critical of what some tv show host puts on his show.
Yeah that's something really important to obsess over. That's important and the idiot president lying to everyone in this country isn't important at all.
Bend the ***** over and take Bush's ***** up your ass.
- mal1964, on 05/16/2008, -4/+1Something has to be missing,This is very strange.
- snorkybluefog, on 05/16/2008, -12/+6Good God, Keith Olbermann is insufferable. He devoted 1 minute of that segment to the content that counts, and the portion that Rieckhoff was clearly more interested in talking about - the GI bill - and 4 minutes ranting about Bush and golf. I think I remember a time when Olbermann was thoughtful and eloquent, now he's just a yellow journalist prick.
- perkoff, on 05/17/2008, -1/+2Hey dumb *****, the video was about George Bush lying to you. I guess it's ok to lie to a dumbasses face. It's like you're so stupid the ***** ***** will lie to you and you won't give a *****, you'll just bitch about some TV show host.
What a ***** moron you are.- snorkybluefog, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Umm, I think we already established Bush's dubious truthfulness with the WMD debacle. What does a lie about golf add to that? It's like pressing charges for stealing a candy bar on a guy who also robbed a bank. What does it add? Nothing. All it does is pander to the emotions of ignorant sheep like yourself, who can't make a single, logical argument without throwing a hissy fit and cursing every other word.
What should the viewer take away from that video? GWB's potential OPPOSITION to the GI bill. If you wanna get down on your knees and to suck off on Olbermann's non-sequitur golf rant, go right ahead. If I'm a moron for being more interested in the actual issues that matter, then damn, people like you aren't even on the intelligence scale.

- makenshin, on 05/16/2008, -6/+1This article fails because we all already know Bush does not have a good enough memory to recall a general date. Though this article wins for again mentioning how Bush feels about giving up golf. Still can't believe he says he gave up golf because of the war. I honestly don't care if any president plays some golf, but i wouldn't mind Bush giving up golf to bring home our troops and end our interference in the middle east.
- TheGhostMan, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1Well you can't really say he couldn't remember the date because, he said specifically that he was playing golf when he was told about the bombing, and felt that he shouldn't be playing and decided to quit. So you see it's not about the date, he decided to quit, and then played again.
- TheSabre, on 05/17/2008, -2/+2"he decided to quit, and then played again."

- ahawks, on 05/17/2008, -1/+6Dude, pick your battles. And guess what, defending bush isn't one you're going to win.
- HarryWatson00, on 05/17/2008, -3/+1I was not defending him merely saying that this is a twisting of the facts...if you aren't clear sighted enough to see a twisting of the facts when it happens then you too are a moron...
- lamiaconfitor, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2he was stating that he gave up golf because of an incident preceding that. so he slept on it for a few years and then decided, that... after a sports injury... he would quit playing a sport? go figure. I'm absolutely sure he did it out of respect, and not because it is more convenient.
- itsfullofstars, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2Are you really that short sighted??? The golf video WAS from 2003 but the incident he said he quit golf over was BEFORE the video. Did you not do any research and just spew nonsense?? Yes, you did.
Keep voting.... /sarcasm
- eagle200363, on 05/16/2008, -10/+4you put up something from the huffington post on? The Huffington Post has more of a liberal bias than the New York Times. Don't waste my time
