- sdcarter, on 07/18/2008, -3/+6I'm inclined to agree. Bubba slammed Obama after Hillary lost. Obama will be the better man and accept his aid; but you can't flip-flop like Kerry and expect that to fly.
- DooM, on 07/18/2008, -1/+7Bill hurt Hillary more than he helped - I think the real issue is he'd probably hurt Obama even more.
- worldgate, on 07/18/2008, -2/+4As opposed to the flip-flopping that mccain is doing right? McCain is full of gimmicks that he knows will never get passed by congress... gas tax holliday my ass. Oh lets take all the money from the states for roads and highways and give it to the oil companies because they are sure to drop the prices. The price will stay the same and oil companies will makes 40-60 cents more per gallon.

- sleepyjjk, on 07/17/2008, -21/+83I understand that many people on digg do not like the Clintons now after the long primary battle, but the truth is - the Clintons can be a worthy asset and they still have a lot of political power in Washington and have a lot of power with the voters.
I for one welcome all the help and support that Obama can get until the election - I want a democrat in the White House again.- PabloMac, on 07/18/2008, -3/+7Yes, many of us are hoping Bill and Hillary Clinton will help Obama's campaign.
- btschul, on 07/18/2008, -14/+4http://clintonmemoriallibrary.com/clintbodycnt.htm ...
The Clintons are ***** scary. Cross them, and you "commit suicide" with a silenced 9mm to the back of the head. - Testiculese, on 07/18/2008, -9/+8Clintons are whores. They'll only do it to increase their own power. I don't want them anywhere NEAR the white house.
- Lythium, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4Elections are wars, and wars can be unpleasant. If your options are to ally with someone you find personally despicable or to increase your likelihood of losing, well.... It boils down to whether or not your personal feelings are worth more to you than victory.
The issue here isn't that cut-and-dry, however; the Clintons deeply and personally offend so many people that they may be more of a hindrance than an asset to Obama's cause. Or they may be exactly what his campaign needs to get the marginal votes - I simply don't have enough experience to determine, and I won't pretend otherwise.
I would say that accepting or rejecting the Clintons' assistance should be based not on whether or not they're "good people" (they're not, imo) but solely on whether or not they can help Obama to oust the Republicans from the White House (they might). That's realpolitik for you - like it or not, that's just how today's politics work. - Testiculese, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1I definitely don't like it, and that's why I'm not a politician. Frigging disgusting to have to live that way.

- RobotBuddha, on 07/18/2008, -0/+7I love that about elections. - wonderlandpr, on 07/18/2008, -8/+5Is this a nudge so that some of the fundraising in June can help Hillary (and Bill) pay off the campaign debt? Could be, but a necessity, perhaps to get all hands on the Obama deck!

- worldgate, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Obama shouldnt be using his campaign money to pay off his opponents debts. She lent herself 10 million and she should be stuck with the bill.

- adayahead, on 07/18/2008, -7/+13It sure would be interesting to live inside the mind of Bill Clinton. Assuming he campaigns for Obama, is it really to help Obama get elected and restore sanity to the U.S.? Or is it about restoring the reputation of Bill Clinton, which Bill Clinton severely damaged while campaigning for Hillary?
- B1663r, on 07/18/2008, -9/+2LOL, don't worry it is only in your head, ROFL.
- ProUSADigger, on 07/18/2008, -6/+2Did you seriously just say that getting Obama elected will restore
sanity to the U.S. in a non-sarcastic way? - digiwand, on 07/18/2008, -2/+2You don't have to get inside his head to know the answer to that, Bill Clinton only does things for Bill Clinton. ;)

When the majority of the "news" is opinion (and not different opinions, the same one), then there's a problem. If it really is an objective AP article, then the link should be to the AP article, not Huffington Post.

- pnunn, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Right. 1. The Illuminati are a real concern for the 2008 election year and 2. They would be the Dems- Not even touching the idea that the Clintons and not the Bush fam would be high ranking members of said whack job family fairy tale. The idea that the world's problems can boil down to some "invisible hand" guiding all the injustice is nothing more than fiction- wishful thinking even. At best the idea appeals to college students with no real experience of the subject matter- at worst it appeals to simpletons with little political education.
(FYI- wiki-ing me to death to disprove this will not make you look less crazy.)
Oh yes, and the "New World Order" was actually a phrase from Bush Sr.- Hence the Ministry song by the name during his presidency. EDIT 01- With multiple samples of him speaking the phrase no less.

The guy has changed his position on everything since the last primaries (which he lost 2 out of three).
If we had known his current positions on FISA, public financing, etc, etc, back then I doubt Obama would have been selected by Democrats.- stevensj2, on 07/18/2008, -1/+2Agreed.
It would be more commendable to start seeing people _un_campaigning for Obama.
The trend of elections being the selection of the candidate who is "less bad" is getting old. - McHoffa, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1it would be nice to have people vote for a candidate because they really like them, rather than "well at least he's not mccain" or "well at least he's not obama" or "well at least he's not hillary" or "well at least she's not obama"
- patch6, on 07/18/2008, -1/+2He hasn't changed position on all of his promises, just the pseudo-populist ones that wouldn't benefit the corporatocracy.
It doesn't matter though, since the people in general don't care about basic rights or economic stability on more than a superficial level, since understanding the state of affairs, and knowing where improvement is needed, would take more time and effort than they can afford between base distractions.
Hollow, ego-centric affirmations and sound bytes take the place of legitimate political discourse for that majority. Being on the "winning team" politically is believed by supporters to ensure the well-being of that collective (as if popularity alone would cause corporate fascism to work in the general public's favor), when those people are of such a gullible, malleable nature that their entire political paradigms can be dictated to them by such corporate interests, effectively rendering them chattel slaves who can be lured towards supporting all manner of destructive policies, given enough time.
The policies that support total fascism are already in place; all that is needed is a popular administration and a catalyzing event for them to be enforced in full. - xsquirrel378x, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Changed his policy on everything?

- Dalhectar, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1And since he will, the best thing he can do is stay home and start acting presidential. Take some cues from every other past president, and work toward non-partisan issues. Build some cred like your former vice president by taking on big issues, and then you can do what you want. If you want to go back into politics, I'd advise you to first tackle some big issues in a big way. Living examples are Al Gore, Bush Sr., and Jimmy Carter.

This is the *exact* reason why the Clintons shouldn't be trusted, and why it's good that she did not get the nomination.
