- mmccarthy, on 05/13/2008, -16/+39This speech really needed to be said. Congratulations Senator Obama.
- 5urr3al5am, on 05/13/2008, -14/+5Isn't Obama an anti-war, anti-military bleeding heart -- Castro-loving liberal?
- MoofTheStoof, on 05/13/2008, -4/+9Why don't you listen to the speech and see for yourself?
- insanebrain, on 05/13/2008, -6/+9. . President Obama.
- 5urr3al5am, on 05/13/2008, -6/+5please
- hittnrun, on 05/13/2008, -19/+6Yep, words, empty words out of the hole of a democrat. They mean NOTHING without action. That was a Bill Clinton trait too.
- dinot, on 05/13/2008, -3/+11How can he take action when he's not even President yet? Are you a moron? Do you like little boys? Or do you prefer older men?
- 5urr3al5am, on 05/13/2008, -8/+2that's true.. the entire democratic led congress believes this.. why take action.. they're hands are tied .. they can't do a damn thing.. poor little elitists .. got no damn bit of power
- dinot, on 05/13/2008, -3/+11How can he take action when he's not even President yet? Are you a moron? Do you like little boys? Or do you prefer older men?
- Eivo, on 05/13/2008, -2/+11Not only did it need to be said, it was a smart speech to give to us in WV. West Virginia prides itself on our contributions to our nation when the time calls. My great grandfather fought in WW1, my grandfather fought in WW2, and 2 of my brothers fought in the current Iraq war. At times, it shames me that I never joined a branch, but I just can't bring myself to support this war. I voted for Obama today.
- bmind, on 05/13/2008, -1/+11Senator Obama cosponsored a bill that led to a $1.5 billion increase in veterans' medical care. During the debate on the Fiscal Year 2007 budget, Senator Obama cosponsored measures that would have provided additional funding increases for veterans.
In January 2007, Senator Obama reintroduced the Lane Evans Veterans Health and Benefits Improvement Act to improve the VA’s planning process to avoid budget shortfalls in the future. The bill requires the VA and the Department of Defense to work together and share data so that we know precisely how many troops will be returning home and entering the VA system.- Mejari, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5You and your facts. Don't you know that no matter what you say, they'll still think that Obama's a do-nothing racist America-hating muslim? *sigh* I wish people would listen to facts instead of un-important issues and lies. Praise to you for bringing some facts to the discussion.
- RockeN5, on 05/13/2008, -1/+4I see he is wearing a flag-pin.
- jabberwolf, on 05/13/2008, -8/+1Congratulations, to a man that has not ever served a day in his life promising Veterans everything under the sun.
- 5urr3al5am, on 05/13/2008, -14/+5Isn't Obama an anti-war, anti-military bleeding heart -- Castro-loving liberal?
- mmccarthy, on 05/13/2008, -9/+24To get MSM to cover this issue properly it need to be dugg up and get this video in YouTubes top 10
- Hypersapien, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5You really thing that will get their attention?
/dugg anyway- mmccarthy, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2We can only try ... remember "hope" :)

- mmccarthy, on 05/13/2008, -13/+4BTW, if you are having problems viewing this ? YouTube is down for maintenance. Should be back up soon.
- rdoger6424, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1first 3 posts in a front-page digg? your e-penis can stretch from yahtzee croshaw's place to the US!
- JasonHears, on 05/13/2008, -8/+36Now ask yourself, could you see Hillary or McCain giving a speech like this? Would they care to raise any of these issues, and actually make you feel like it's an issue they really cared about (as opposed to just pandering and campaigning)? Obama has the uncanny ability to not only raise issues that nobody really likes talking about, but framing them in ways that we all can understand, and begin to talk and care about fixing and dealing with in the right way. That alone is one of the main reasons I support him. Especially after 8 years of BS lies and a government that speaks to the American people like we're too stupid to understand anything, and need to trust our government to do everything for us.
- makenshin, on 05/13/2008, -2/+11The only candidates in this election I could see myself voting for were Ron Paul and maybe Obama (this was long ago before I knew anything really about Obama). When I watched Obama's 'A More Perfect Union' speech back in March, I was shocked by his brilliance. I'm not saying he is a genius, but for a politician, he is incredible intelligent and knows what he is doing. Not only can he write and give speeches, but he has his own well researched opinions that actually make sense and are not always aimed at just getting votes (like McCain and Hillary's gas tax free summer), but at doing what is best for America. And Obama's views are based on experience (which he has proven he has more of than Hillary). Point being, I always enjoy Obama's speeches, in which he wins me over more and more each time.
- Jpotts12, on 05/13/2008, -8/+0Ron Paul
- zepher5150, on 05/13/2008, -0/+0Relevant: bearing upon or connected with the matter in hand; pertinent.
No offense..but at this juncture ...you man Ron Paul is Relevant.
- zepher5150, on 05/13/2008, -0/+0Relevant: bearing upon or connected with the matter in hand; pertinent.
- bonhoeffer, on 05/13/2008, -2/+0"a government that speaks to the American people like we're too stupid to understand anything, and need to trust our government to do everything for us."
Smell the irony. The number 1 reason people are voting for Obama is they believe he will use the power of government to do everything for them. - mal1964, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2111 2 4/24/08 On the Amendment S.Amdt. 4572 to S. 1315 (Veterans' Benefits Enhancement Act of 2007)

- chromerium, on 05/13/2008, -8/+26Great speech ... and I know he'll follow through with action as he generally does.
But hey! He's wearing a flag pin! Thats new, isn't it? A change of heart?- omnithought, on 05/13/2008, -3/+18I figure, who cares if he wears it? If we're going to base our choice of President over things like a flag pin, then we already have the President we deserve.
- chromerium, on 05/13/2008, -3/+3Oh, definitely. But it was always for a reason that he didn't wear one. It'd be interesting to see why during this particular speech, he wore one. Maybe it was in honor of the troops he spoke about, or some other reason - but either way I think it'd be interesting.
- hittnrun, on 05/13/2008, -18/+3He's a panderer. He finally figured out, nuancing liberals can get away with spitting on the flag, candidates for President cannot. Another example of his bad judgement and lack of wisdom.
- Mejari, on 05/13/2008, -0/+9I think it would be hilarious if he came out on stage for a speech lugging a giant flag lapel-pin as tall as he is, and prop it up on the podium and just say 'See? According to my opponents, this means I'm the most patriotic!'
- rawg, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2I'm surprised that Hillary hasn't already tried that exact thing... LOL
- clarionhaze, on 05/13/2008, -5/+3well considering he's speaking on veterans affairs...
- rawg, on 05/13/2008, -4/+12If he didn't wear a flag pin while delivering this speech, the media would have been all over him about it. Ironically, it probably would have ensured more media coverage of this important speech.
In any case, I think Obama's position has always been that wearing a flag pin isn't a measure of your patriotism, not that it's categorically "bad" to wear one. - mmccarthy, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3I would guess that his particular flag pin is the one given to him by the disabled Vet a few weeks ago at another speech. Like the bracelet he wears given to him by a soldiers mother.
- papipablo, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7He occasionally sports the flag pin. It's so stupid that it is an issue if he wears one or not.
- Tiak, on 05/13/2008, -4/+1I believe that makes him a flip-flopper.
- HappyProgrammer, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1I dont think he was ever against wearing one. Just opposed people making a big deal about it.
- omnithought, on 05/13/2008, -3/+18I figure, who cares if he wears it? If we're going to base our choice of President over things like a flag pin, then we already have the President we deserve.
- kdawg1012, on 05/13/2008, -12/+36Don't worry about the flag pin. Whether he wears it or not is irrelevant. Patriotism is about what you do with your life and how you serve this great nation. Barack Obama truly understands that.
- sockpuppets, on 05/13/2008, -7/+51. Fail on the "reply" button, it's there for a reason.
2. I'm sure he was sarcastic, the flag pin debate is just plain ridiculous. - pianomahnn, on 05/13/2008, -5/+7Yea, except the voting populace doesn't. Remember...Bush was elected twice. The United States is filled with idiots who won't vote for Obama because of the lack of flag pin. They really are that ignorant. :-(
- makenshin, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5It's true that wearing a flag pin is a pointless issue as it does not show patriotism, but apparently stupid people think it is important. The funny thing is, the common person who does take the flag pin issue to heart, normally themselves do not walk around wearing flag pins. Also, many of our countries most important presidents didn't wear flag pins (heck, they didn't have them then). I just hope they don't catch a candidate, who has been running around the country for months with tireless days and nights campaigning, with mismatched socks. I don't even want to know what that would mean.
- Mejari, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3And their boxers better have the American flag on them, or there'll be heck to pay! Heck I tell you!
- Jpotts12, on 05/13/2008, -12/+2As far as i'm concerned, if you don't vote McCain you're not a real American and you should get the ***** outta here. No one should vote for some black ***** liberal who don't supports America. As the song goes... "Proud to be American". I'm gettin' sick and tiret of this anti-american, anti-war sheeit.
- papipablo, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4Troll is troll.
- AyaJulia, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Let's see... no dugg articles, around 200 comments, almost NONE of them with positive ratings, no friends... you couldn't be more obvious if you were green and lived under a bridge, kid.
- sockpuppets, on 05/13/2008, -7/+51. Fail on the "reply" button, it's there for a reason.
- omnithought, on 05/13/2008, -9/+15And here people were trying to smear Obama for flubbing on the number of states we have. Let's see one speech from Bush, Clinton (either of them) or McCain that even approaches this one.
It's time our veterans stopped getting ***** over and it's about time a nominee truly stood up for them.- nblsavage, on 05/13/2008, -2/+10I think harping on ANY candidate for slipping during a speech is freaking childish.
- hittnrun, on 05/13/2008, -16/+8Well, normally, except Osama played the "old age" card when he said McCain "lost his bearings". You libs are fvcking pathetic.
- fmaxwell, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7McCain "lost his bearings" multiple times on the same issue and his advanced age is an issue. Deal with it. If he can't remember who the Sunnis and Shiites are, then we've got a problem. Experts say occasional memory lapses happen to everyone but that they tend to happen more often as people get older. Alzheimer's also occurs more frequently as people age. If elected President, there is, statistically speaking, a significant chance that McCain could die of natural causes before finishing his term. If elected, McCain would be the oldest US president ever inaugurated.
What's pathetic is your moronic name-calling and unwillingness to debate the issues. What's really pathetic is that you don't understand that liberals are what made this country great. They are the ones that got women and blacks the right to vote and run for office. They got civil rights for blacks, preventing right-wing bigots from treating them like sub-humans. They had the vision to put a man on the moon. They are the true backbone of America. - 47f0, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7Speaking of pathetic - right-wing ***** who border on illiterate. Losing ones bearings means that they have gotten off track, usually by ignoring their moral compass. It has nothing to do with age - most of your party lost their bearings years ago.
- hittnrun, on 05/13/2008, -8/+1Are there 57 United States of America or not? Have you EVER mistakenly said there were? What could possibly be your explaination of this mistake? Does Osama know something we don't?
- Tiak, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Maybe the 57 number was referring to the number of election contests held for the Democratic party (most of which are individual states)?... The extras are the District of Columbia, Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Democrats Abroad, and Texas's Caucus.
- Mejari, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6Wow, you'll irrationally associate an American politician with a horrible mass-murderer but you won't spell out '*****'. Shows your moral fortitude, doesn't it?
- hittnrun, on 05/14/2008, -2/+1It's called a porn filter. Spelling "FVCK" that way avoids avoids the porn filter and allows people with it activated to see my very important message. Your post shows your intelligence. lol
Oh, did the great Osama put that nomination away tonight. Haven't checked. Skies haven't opened up , celestial angels aren't singing. Must have got his oreo ass handed to him.
- hittnrun, on 05/14/2008, -2/+1It's called a porn filter. Spelling "FVCK" that way avoids avoids the porn filter and allows people with it activated to see my very important message. Your post shows your intelligence. lol
- papipablo, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5Losing his bearing referred to losing his moral compass you moron.
- hittnrun, on 05/14/2008, -1/+1Why would a democrap care about a morale compass?? Bill Clinton threw that out the window 8 plus years ago. You very same libs even told us it didn't matter. Which is it?
- dagamer34, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5Ah, classic sound-biting. For those that don't watch the ENTIRE CNN interview, he said the line "losing our bearings" in reference to other people and this nation as a whole.
People just WANT to pick fights now. - Tiak, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2Yeah! Making age an issue is ridiculous... It's not like we've ever had age ***** us over... What? We have?... Harrison, the 2nd oldest man to hold the office died 31 days into his term? And Taylor, another one of the oldest died 18 months into his term?... Nonsense!
- hittnrun, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Obama could have that happen to him also. He could have a stroke, anything. That's why you pick your VP carefully. You dims didn't even pick your Presidential candidate carefully.
- Plantagenet, on 05/13/2008, -16/+3Its not Obama's fault he doesn't know how many states the US has.....he went to grade school in Indonesia and missed the required 2nd grade class on US geography.
- ColonelJessup, on 05/13/2008, -4/+0Well put omnithought.
- Barackalypse, on 05/13/2008, -7/+1This country isn't bankrupt for lack of good speeches. It is bankrupt because of foolish spending and so far all I've heard coming from Obama is more promises to spend more money on more things. And based on his voting record, I actually believe that he'll follow through on it.
- nblsavage, on 05/13/2008, -2/+10I think harping on ANY candidate for slipping during a speech is freaking childish.
- oldhick, on 05/13/2008, -16/+9I became acutely aware of all of the Diggers who speak about the illegal war and occupation that the US is responsible for in Iraq. I am reminded of all of the Diggers who speak of the war crimes and the atrocities committed on innocent women and children in Iraq and in Afghanistan.
Maybe all of you who spew so much hate masked in idealism, should take a cue from Obama when he says "some of us may disagree with the decision to start this war, but all of us stand united in support of our troops".
Just remember, accusing our troups of war crimes, atrocities, and an illegal occupation is NOT supporting our troops and that is why Obama does not call the war in Iraq any of those things.
Now lets get our boys home as quick as we can!- rebotfc, on 05/13/2008, -2/+18Except there have been real documented atrocities carried out by the U.S. military and U.S. privateer contractors.
Exposing the truth is not an attack on troops in general.- Wargalas, on 05/13/2008, -7/+3You could have fooled me with the comments I've seen on here disparaging troops together as a whole.
- rdoger6424, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2PROTIP: There are multiple people on digg.
- Wargalas, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Wow, thanks Captain Obvious.
- rdoger6424, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2PROTIP: There are multiple people on digg.
- Wargalas, on 05/13/2008, -7/+3You could have fooled me with the comments I've seen on here disparaging troops together as a whole.
- bhod, on 05/13/2008, -2/+3so should we just ignore it or look the other way just because it is american soldiers or contractors doing it?
gobama! - oldhick, on 05/13/2008, -3/+5I didn't say to ignore any specifics. But there are plenty of diggers that make sweeping generalizations when discussing the war and our troops. Of course we need to ALL be held accountable for our actions.
- bundwallah, on 05/13/2008, -4/+1Troops are the tools/pawns of the governments who wield them. That they get sent somewhere to fight, whether just or unjust, is not within their control. That blame lies with their masters. What those troops do in the course of duty just or unjust is up to each and every individual. I'd imagine that there are conditions in the theater of war that test the better judgment of each individual or exacerbate the behaviour that no one should be proud of.
I can't imagine anything more horrifying than putting people into the carnage of war. What those troops must have to endure, see, do must certainly be scarring. It bothers me that are used and then marginalized. I'm no fan of war, but I'm pragmatic about things. Unfortunately, there is no true diplomacy in this world. Our world is governed by "big sticks" The bigger your stick, the more influence you "wield". Its' how you wield those sticks that reveal the true measure of those in control. I think the US has lost its way. Google, "War is a Racket". You'll be directed to a very interesting piece of writing by an ex US Army General. Its a real eye opener. Oh, and BTW, great speech! OK, time to get off the soapbox. - 47f0, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1I've never locked horns with OldHick, but while I often disagree with him, I note carefully the fact that he knows how to disagree without being disagreeable. Clearly, OldHick is not suggesting we ignore troops that commit atrocities - but that we recognize that the bad apples are far and few between, and not lump our heroes in with those who dishonor themselves.
- rebotfc, on 05/13/2008, -2/+18Except there have been real documented atrocities carried out by the U.S. military and U.S. privateer contractors.
- moolaismyfriend, on 05/13/2008, -14/+14Why has the GOP, and people at blogs like Little Green Footballs abandon our troops after they have fulfilled their duty to this great nation?
Why do these people hate our troops? And why does it take strong compassionate Democrats to correct the wrongs these people have done to our troops?- brizzad2, on 05/13/2008, -6/+7great nation? right now, we're mediocre at best.
- Stevanoski, on 05/13/2008, -6/+6Mooooola, you better get to reading emails if you want to make that extra $50 this month, lol
- moolaismyfriend, on 05/13/2008, -6/+4what are you talking about you white trash anti-troop Republican?
- Stevanoski, on 05/13/2008, -5/+5Your blog, where you share sites where you can make "extra" money, heh heh
- moolaismyfriend, on 05/13/2008, -4/+2Ohh thanks, I didn't know i had a blog.
- Stevanoski, on 05/13/2008, -3/+5You had two, shut them down after I found the one where you tell people how to make an extra $25 a month reading emails. Bet that makes your mom proud.

- bonhoeffer, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1You do understand that Senate Democrats are opposing a new GI bill that will put veterans through college? Sweet words at a political rally in WV cannot cover the blatant disdain Democrats have for the soldiers personally, their needs, and their mission.
- ProLifeWoman, on 05/13/2008, -34/+13Barack Hussein Obama?? Are you all f-ing kidding me?? You people had better wake up and realize that we know NOTHING about this man! OMG if he becomes our next president you all had better hang on tight to your life styles, your morality and your wallets because it is gonna be a very scary and bumpy ride! We will be lucky to come out of that in one piece. very very scary!
- nblsavage, on 05/13/2008, -3/+22Your name says it all. Get lost.
- ironhide, on 05/13/2008, -4/+21If you know nothing about him, it's because you've been willfully ignorant. Some of us know how to read.
- HamSandwich, on 05/13/2008, -6/+26OMG, his middle name is Hussein?? Surely, he must be a terrorist! What, he's black too? He must be the walking incarnation of evil!!
Give me a break. As for your "very scary and bumpy ride", what the hell do you call the last 8 years? A picnic? - fani, on 05/13/2008, -3/+12"moran"
- dugsirkel, on 05/13/2008, -3/+18So why not learn more about him instead of making uninformed, fear-mongering statements?
- headzoo, on 05/13/2008, -2/+15He's been in public office since 1997. If you don't know anything about him, then that's your fault.
- fmaxwell, on 05/13/2008, -0/+8You stupid, right-wing, evangelical Christian, bigot!
Why is it that every time I meet a pro-life zealot, it makes me wish that there has been one more abortion?
- Plantagenet, on 05/13/2008, -10/+17Obama doesn't need a flag pin to be a patriot.
- Jamihabs, on 05/13/2008, -7/+2No, he just needs to develop some respect for this country.
- sublingo, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3Now you're just being silly.
- Jamihabs, on 05/13/2008, -7/+2No, he just needs to develop some respect for this country.
- OffPiste, on 05/13/2008, -36/+14Obama Hussein's coward ass hasn't done a damn thing in this fight. How come he hasn't volunteered to fight? How come his kids aren't in JROTC? Oh yeah, the elites aren't required to make a sacrifice. They get to eat all the arugula and laugh at the TV each time a GI dies.
***** Demorats.- rjwisniewski, on 05/13/2008, -4/+32As a Republican enlisted soldier of the U.S. Army who is voting for Obama I personally think your statement makes you look like an idiot.
- Mejari, on 05/13/2008, -1/+11I honestly and proudly salute you, sir/madam.
- rjwisniewski, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6Thank you.
- Mejari, on 05/13/2008, -1/+11I honestly and proudly salute you, sir/madam.
- RohanXI, on 05/13/2008, -2/+20I may be wrong...but after looking it up...JROTC is for high school students, and Obama's children ages are under 10 both.
Oh and what leader ever fights anymore. How many generals have led a charge? Just because you aren't fighting, doesn't mean you aren't making a difference.- rjwisniewski, on 05/13/2008, -1/+9Thank you kind sir.
- tuholmes, on 05/13/2008, -4/+22I'm sorry, but when did Bush, Cheney, or any of their pals go to fight?
10 Year olds don't need to learn how to fight... They should be enjoying childhood.
Since you're typing on this computer... Where are you stationed? Are you out fighting?
Personally, I'm not, but if someone actually invaded my country I would take up arms to defend it... You can't defend a nation by being half a world away. - wacomwacoff, on 05/13/2008, -1/+15Which branch of the armed forces are you in?
And why do you want to send 10 year old kids to war? - headzoo, on 05/13/2008, -1/+17Oh my god.. His kids are all of 9 years old. Proof that you're just talking out of your ass, and don't know the first thing about a man you supposedly hate.

As I watched his speech yesterday I realized something, or should I say noticed something different about Barack Obama, something that would change the way I feel about him forever. I found out he was...black. But it gets worst, he isn't just black, he is also Muslim. Yes, I know it sounds ridiculous, but Barack Obama is a black Muslim. Why didn't anyone tell us he was a black Muslim? Politics is a deceiving little game.

- fmaxwell, on 05/13/2008, -0/+8Yes, you do come home and find more of your rights stripped.
You can no longer board a plane without showing a photo ID.
You are now subject to search without probable cause. You phone can be tapped without a court order or even judicial review.
You can be locked up in prison without access to an attorney because the government claims, without having to show proof, that you are a terrorist. If you are given access to an attorney, the government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between you and your attorney(s), making it impossible for you to openly discuss your case with your attorney.
Religious or political institutions to which you belong can be monitored by the Feds without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigations.
The government may search and seize your papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation.
If you are given access to an attorney, the government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between you and your attorney(s).
The government may jail you indefinitely without a speedy (or any) trial, without charging you, and without allowing you to confront witnesses against you.
Obama has come out against these Bush executive order atrocities. But you are obviously more concerned about feeling impotent without your gun,
As to firearms and concealed carry: I believe that the weapons used to mow down students at Columbine and Virginia Tech were concealed as they were carried. That worked out real well, didn't it? I'm just glad that we did not have campuses full of untrained, gun-toting kids all trying to be heroes by shooting at anyone shooting a gun. What was a tragic loss of life would have been far worse.

- headzoo, on 05/13/2008, -0/+8I worry about anyone who considers gun laws a make or break it deal for any candidate. With a hundred other _possibly_ more important issues to worry about, they are worried about their guns first and foremost.
And 75% of the Marines I knew were Republican, and they'd vote Republican no matter what.
- Semper- Barackalypse, on 05/13/2008, -3/+1Look at it this way, any candidate who wants to take your Constitutional rights away isn't anyone you should ever be voting for, regardless of their stance on any other issues. Besides that, there is plenty of historical evidence to suggest that anyone wanting to take your guns has far more sinister plans (for example Stalin, Himmler, and Pol Pot all instituted gun control measures followed by brutal campaigns of terror and genocide against their own citizens). Perhaps the armed services, which sometimes finds itself protecting these disarmed people, is more sensitive to the issue and what it really means.
- headzoo, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2I can understand that it's not _just_ about the guns. It's about a right guaranteed by our constitution. That being said, George Bush has been wiping his ass with our constitution for the past 7 years, and we need a candidate that can get us back on track.
We've already been denied many constitutional rights, and I want a candidate who's going to make things right. If that candidate steps on one little right -- right to bear arms -- in the process of reinstating a dozen others, then I'm all for that candidate.
In a nutshell, you have to take the good with the bad. There is no single candidate that is a perfect fit for everyone. But when someone thinks the right to bear -- and conceal -- arms is more important than habeas corpus, the right to privacy (in my home, on my internet, and on my phone), checks and balances, etc, then I worry about where that person's head is at.

I'm very very strongly pro-second amendment, but no candidate is seriously attacking gun rights. Guns, like immigration and gay marriage, are non-issues that are dragged out of the closet every four years to distract everyone from the real issues.

We are the ones who are angered by the way that our injured troops have been deserted by our government.
The flag lapel pin is just another right-wing attempt to draw people away from the real issues. McCain goes to countless events and interviews without a flag pin and no one questions whether he loves America. Obama was in a no-win position, just as your side intended. If he wore the pin, then the right holds that up as a sign that he's insincere, pandering, or that he was wrong to have dared to go out without one before. If he continued to not wear it, your side was ready to portray him as a radical Muslim extremist who hates America. Don't you ever get ashamed at that kind of tactic?

But Hull's campaign was torpedoed by a barrage of well timed media charges that he had abused his former wife. Hull was therefore obliged to drop out of the race. Thus Obama won the nomination."
"After Hull had been eliminated, Obama still had to face his Republican opponent Jack Ryan. Ryan had divorced his wife Jeri (Star Trek Voyager's 7 of 9) in 1999, and the case was sealed at their mutual request. Suddenly the Chicago Tribune and WLS television began undertaking mighty exertions to get these divorce records made public, even though they involved a dispute about child custody. On June 22, 2004, Los Angeles Superior Court judge Robert Schneider released the court documents in question. They revealed an accusation by Jeri Ryan against her husband, now Obama's political competitor, to the effect that Jack Ryan had induced her to frequent sex clubs in a number of locations, and had attempted to coerce her into sexual intercourse in the presence of third parties. Judge Schnider's decision was all the more extraordinary because it was made in the face of the direct opposition by both parties to the divorce, and bore on a Family Court matter that is normally kept vigorously secret. It was as if some totalitarian invisible hand were intervening in favor of the beleaguered Obama candidacy. At this point Jack Ryan was compelled to abandon his candidacy at the urging of Dennis Hastert, then Speaker of the House."3.
And thus Barack Obama won his current US Senate seat.

- oldcyborg, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2He doesn't really care, but it was nice of him to say so. I'm sorry my vote for him in WV would have been wasted, and it is was all I have. I have very hope for most of the vets.... You join,(I did), and you serve, doing whatever they tell you, but you get no credit when things are harder, later in life. Not to mention at the time.
