As of September 29, Bloomberg reports that the grid operator responsible for keeping the lights on in Philadelphia, Chicago and Washington, DC, had declared a record number of energy emergencies in 2026. California and Texas had recorded zero, according to Bloomberg, whose headline notes that the grid didn’t go all-in on batteries.
