Singapore passes bill tightening security and resilience rules for major data centres
The Straits Times reports that about two-thirds of Singapore’s 70 data centres cross the bill’s thresholds.
TLDR
The Straits Times reports that Singapore passed the Digital Infrastructure Bill on October 7, 2026. Data centres using at least 10 megawatts for essential computing equipment will need foundational digital infrastructure licences; those using at least 3 megawatts will need data centre licences, with energy-efficiency requirements still to be set. Cybersecurity Act amendments will also bring most major data centres under cyber-incident reporting rules.
