Two oil tankers reportedly exploded after hitting mines in Strait of Hormuz

Two oil tankers reportedly exploded after striking mines on an unauthorized route through the Strait of Hormuz. The explosions and mine strikes remain allegations. The vessels also allegedly switched off navigation and identification systems and ignored repeated warnings. Iran restricts passage through the strait. A separate warning about a vessel reportedly struck by an unknown projectile does not identify it as either tanker.
