Fired OpenAI researchers warn the company cannot make AI safe on its own

Business Insider reports that fired OpenAI researchers disputed the grounds for their firings and warned that current workers may fear speaking up about safety risks. The former employees worried colleagues would now be “afraid to speak and operate in ways that, until last week, were an integral part of working at OpenAI.” They also warned that OpenAI cannot make AI safe on its own.
