Citi and Bank of America restrict AI agents' access to customer accounts
The Financial Times reports that banks fear AI assistants could move idle deposits into higher-yielding accounts.
TLDR
Citi says it does not permit third-party AI agents to log in to customer accounts or transact directly on its digital banking platforms, the Financial Times reports. The FT says Bank of America has also restricted agents' access to consumer deposits while working out who would be liable for AI-authorized payments. Citi still allows customers to authorize limited, read-only access through certain open-banking providers.
