Proposed Singapore board rules include a five-directorship cap
The Business Times reports that firms with non-independent chairs would have to appoint a lead independent director.
TLDR
The Straits Times and The Business Times report that SGX RegCo and the Corporate Governance Advisory Committee have proposed capping listed-entity directorships at five. Audit, nominating and remuneration committees would each need an independent chair and a majority of independent directors. The Business Times says the cap would also count overseas-listed board seats, and consultation is open until January 27, 2027.
