TLDR

A September 22 post put Brent crude down about 4% to just under $100 and WTI down more than 5% to roughly $95, linking the moves to talk of a possible Iran thaw and a Trump-Xi meeting that week. A separate midday market update said Iran had indicated the Strait of Hormuz could reopen under certain conditions and that Saudi Arabia had restarted its East-West Pipeline.

@ChapoGrimeyNo attacks in the past 72 hours in straight of Hormuz No drones, no mines. $oil reacting positively, a deal seems more reasonable as both sides look stupid here. Traffic increasing as well from tankers, jumped from 3 to 12.
@Tesla_Optimus_KStocks bid, oil dumped, copper is the AI bottleneck Nasdaq was up about 2%, S&P 500 about 1.3%. Energy was the only red sector. WTI crude fell more than 5% to roughly $95, Brent off about 4% to just under $100, on talk of Trump-Xi at the White House later this week and a possible Iran thaw. The kicker is the metal. Robert Friedland is framing copper and rare earths as the US-China resource front line. Morgan Stanley's Amy Gower has copper at record highs on AI infrastructure. Anthropic also rolled an AI-safety tie-up with Accenture — Wall Street is selling the risk overlay on the same boom. Diplomacy is the tape. Copper is the constraint. #copper #AI #TrumpXi $FCX
@AlaouicapitalCrude Oil dumped 3.8% within minutes. A few days ago everyone was pricing in $100+ oil because of the Hormuz situation. Now Iran is talking about reopening the Strait within 7 days and suddenly the same trade looks completely different. The market really does not care how confident you were yesterday. Geopolitical trades are basically musical chairs with billions of dollars involved.

@Puts_Plus📊 MIDDAY MARKET REPORT - SEPTEMBER 22, 2026 | 12:17PM EASTERN At first glance, this looks like a pretty quiet day. It really isn’t. The Dow is down more than 200 points; the S&P 500 is basically flat, and the Nasdaq has pushed to another intraday record. Tech is mixed, financials are weak, and energy is slipping along with oil. A relatively small group of stocks is doing most of the work for the Nasdaq. 🔴 Dow: 51,821.66 | -0.44% 🔴 S&P 500: 7,763.83 | -0.01% 🟢 Nasdaq: 27,191.74 | +0.26% 🔴 PutsPlus™: -0.79% 🔴 Crude Oil: $91.83 | -0.59% 🔴 Gold: $4,323.33 | -0.45% 🔴 Bitcoin: $86,191.59 | -0.45% WHAT'S MOVING THE MARKET - Don't read too much into the green Nasdaq number. This is not a broad tech rally. Alphabet is providing a good chunk of the support, while Cisco and several chip names are moving sharply lower. There are still plenty of buyers around, but they're being selective. Financials are having a rough day. The gap between short and long-term Treasury yields has narrowed, which isn't great for bank lending margins. JPMorgan is among the bigger losers, and weakness across the group is putting additional pressure on the Dow. Oil is lower again. Iran has indicated that the Strait of Hormuz could reopen under certain conditions, while Saudi Arabia has restarted its East-West Pipeline. ECONOMIC NEWS 🔴 Richmond Fed Manufacturing:The September index fell to -2 from +4 in August, putting the regional manufacturing sector back into contraction. New orders and shipments also weakened. 🟡 ADP Weekly Employment: ADP's newer weekly employment series is also out today. The previous reading showed roughly 16,300 jobs added. It's still a relatively new report, so the market isn't treating it with the same importance as monthly payrolls, but it gives us another look at how the labor market is developing between the bigger reports. 🟡 Fed Speakers: Philip Jefferson, John Williams and Thomas Barkin are all on the schedule today. With last week's rate hike still fresh, investors will be listening for anything that changes expectations for the next Fed meeting. BIG MOVERS 🟢 $GRAB +9.1% - This is the most interesting move of the day. CEO Anthony Tan bought 10.35 million shares at $2.89, putting almost $30 million of his own money into the stock. President and COO Alex Hungate bought another 299,571 shares for roughly $867,000. These were open-market purchases, so management put more than $30 million into GRAB with its own money. 🟢 $SNDK +6.5% - Sandisk is having another strong day as the memory and storage trade continues to attract buyers. The stock has already had a huge 2026, but investors are still stepping in on the dips. 🔴 $ALL -5.8% - Allstate is getting hit hard today and adding to the weakness in financials. A nearly 6% decline stands out even more on a day when the S&P 500 itself is barely moving. 🔴 $CSCO -5.7% - Cisco is one of the Nasdaq's biggest losers today. It's also a good example of how narrow the strength in technology has become. 🔴 $DELL -4.2% - Dell is giving back some of its recent gains as enthusiasm around AI infrastructure cools a bit. A drop of more than 4% with the Nasdaq still positive shows just how different the action can be from one tech stock to another. PUTSPLUS™ TAKE - One thing worth paying attention to today is the difference between insider buying and insider selling. Executives sell shares for all kinds of reasons. Taxes, diversification, estate planning or simply wanting the cash. Buying is different. There's really only one reason an executive reaches into his own pocket and buys millions of dollars of stock. He thinks it's worth more than he's paying. That's what makes the $GRAB purchases interesting. Anthony Tan didn't buy $100,000 worth of stock so he could make a symbolic statement. He put almost $30 million into the company. That doesn't mean GRAB is headed higher tomorrow, and it certainly doesn't eliminate the risks. But it's a piece of information worth keeping. For the rest of the day, we’ll watch whether financials can recover, whether the Nasdaq can hold its record levels despite weak breadth, and whether today's Fed speakers say anything that changes the market's thinking about the next rate decision. http://www.putsplus.org/results
@QuantradinOne trade made $10,458. The other 607 made $321. Monday my paper desk closed 608 trades for +$10,779 on the day the Nasdaq set a record. Take the one AMD call out and the rest netted $321, with 324 of them losing. Which do you look at first, the total or the day without its best trade?
