Trump administration unveils voluntary ‘U.S. Caught Seafood’ label and Seafood.gov

The Hill reports Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced the voluntary label at a Florida rally on October 23, when the administration also unveiled Seafood.gov. USDA says the label would complement, not replace, existing country-of-origin labeling for fish and shellfish. The Hill, citing NOAA data, reports an estimated 80 percent of fish consumed in the U.S. in 2023 was imported.
