78% of surveyed ASEAN business leaders see AI benefits outweighing its energy requirements

The Straits Times, covering a survey by The Business Times and Kantar, reports that 78% of 514 regional business leaders polled see AI’s benefits outweighing its energy requirements. But 41% expect a moderate increase in energy demand as AI adoption scales, while another 40% expect a significant increase. Rising electricity or operating costs were cited by 46% as an operational challenge.
