Madagascar scam compound raids expose reported links to Cambodia operations

Following raids in August and September 2026, Madagascar’s Justice Ministry reported 13 Chinese-run scam compounds dismantled and 148 Chinese nationals extradited to China. US authorities believe one group likely moved operations from Cambodia after police action there. Police described Africans recruited for commercial jobs who were later forced to scam. Initial findings suggested some of around 20 African nationals in custody may have been trafficking victims.
