European Commission's Microsoft Teams backup draws criticism from officials

The European Commission introduced Element Pro over the summer as a “sovereign back-up to Teams,” according to an internal memo seen by POLITICO. Teams remains its main communications tool, while the Commission hosts Element Pro on its own infrastructure. POLITICO reports that three officials questioned the backup’s value or performance; Element’s CEO said the Commission was still trialing it and that there would be “teething issues.”
