Anthropic’s Louisiana data center could generate $1.3 billion in monthly revenue

The first phase represents an investment of up to $10 billion, according to Louisiana Economic Development. Entergy Louisiana is providing an initial 330 megawatts of utility capacity to support 245 megawatts of critical IT load, while the broader campus could eventually scale to 1,000 megawatts.

Construction is already underway. Axios said in October that about 1,200 workers were trying to bring the center online in the first quarter of 2027, with completion continuing through the year. The state’s December 2025 announcement gave a slightly wider target, saying operations were expected by the second quarter of 2027.

The revenue case comes with a huge bill

The Information linked its $1.3 billion monthly estimate to Anthropic’s effort to bring $530 billion in leased computing capacity online. Separately, Reuters reported that a confidential Anthropic IPO prospectus described at least $518 billion in planned infrastructure spending with six partners over a decade. The two figures cover differently described obligations and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Reuters said about 80% of Anthropic’s commitments were non-cancelable or payable regardless of use. It also reported that the company is moving beyond a cloud-only model toward dedicated data centers and directly leased chips.

That makes utilization the key test. The Louisiana estimate shows why Anthropic sees so much upside in securing compute, but the long-term payment obligations mean the company also bears substantial risk if demand or pricing falls short.
