China’s top solar firms lose nearly 7 billion yuan in the third quarter
The six manufacturers’ combined losses rose from roughly 5.9 billion yuan a year earlier as overcapacity outweighed cost cuts.
TLDR
China has enough solar-manufacturing capacity to supply nearly twice global demand. Trina Solar reported the largest quarterly loss among the six firms at 1.67 billion yuan. Losses also widened at Tongwei and Longi, while Jinko Solar and TCL Zhonghuan narrowed theirs. Domestic solar installations fell nearly 54% year over year in the first nine months of 2026, according to the National Energy Administration.
