Taiwan accuses China of harassing shipping off Taiwan’s east coast

Taiwan’s Coast Guard accused China of harassing ships by radio and asserting jurisdiction during an east-coast patrol involving two Chinese vessels. Taiwan sent forces to monitor them. Chinese state media showed a patrol ship broadcasting a law-enforcement message offering help, but did not identify its recipient. Taiwanese officials believe the regular patrols could be practice for a potential blockade.
