Cognition reportedly ties engineers’ AI spending limits to efficiency grades

The Information reports that Cognition is taking aim at “tokenmaxxing” with a system that grades engineers on AI efficiency and adjusts their spending limits based on performance. It says other companies are trying to curb AI spending with usage caps, cheaper models and tools that route only the hardest requests to the most expensive models.
