Around half a dozen small hybrids reportedly planned for India

The Economic Times reports that Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Toyota and Renault are preparing about half a dozen small hybrids for India over the 18–24 months following its October 2026 report. The paper points to lower taxes on compact cars and fuel-efficiency rules set to take effect in April 2027. Industry insiders told the outlet Maruti Suzuki’s first model is due in 2027, while Hyundai is targeting mid-2027.
