SIA Engineering’s first-half profit falls 1.7% to S$81.9 million

SIA Engineering attributed its net-profit decline to lower earnings from associated and joint-venture companies, lower interest income, higher finance charges and higher taxes. Operating profit doubled to $25.7 million, helped by healthy maintenance demand and smaller losses at startup subsidiaries. Excluding materials, revenue rose 1.6% year on year.
