Highways Ministry invokes catastrophic-failure clause against two highway developers

The Economic Times carries a PTI report that the Highways Ministry invoked its new catastrophic-failure clause over pavement settlement in Tamil Nadu and a reinforcement cage collapse in Uttar Pradesh. The collapse killed two workers and seriously injured another. Under the provision, highway-owning agencies can bar developers from bidding on new projects for two years and give them negative ratings.
