Reuters reports that U.S. District Judge John Cronan in Manhattan authorized Mariner Atlantic Multi-Strategy LLC to subpoena payment records from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Clearing House Interbank Payments System. The fund filed a criminal complaint in Switzerland against iron ore trader Radiant World.
Cronan said the requests were not unduly intrusive or burdensome because they covered specific accounts and a specific timeframe. He also said Mariner could not otherwise obtain the records and that Swiss courts were receptive to assistance from U.S. authorities. Radiant World did not immediately respond to Reuters outside business hours.
